Most men are absent in all aspects. I blame the ulema for this because nobody teaches the youth life skills on how to live and be in a healthy marriage. They have programmes, talks and youth programmes and ijtimas galore but the men remain the same. They listen when they're there and out the ear the minute they leave. But if it is to lecture their wives, they remember everything the Sheikh or Mufti said.
On one side you blame the Ulema for not doing enough and in the very same conversation you blame the men for letting the advice out the other ear! Ulema can deliver but they are not responsible for the men for letting it out the other ear! Ulama in South Africa do more than Ulama of any other country especially in social aspect. Stop blaming the Ulama and take some responsibility yourself.
It is not the responsibility of the ulema to instil these values in our youth. As much as they are there to offer religious advices, these values stem from home and it is a ripple effect. We tend to follow in the footsteps of our parents.
