- Hello everybody!🖐 The Restorer is with you again.🔥😎
Restoration of an Extremely Rare and Old Lighter in the form of a "grenade" from World War II. In this video I will do a complete restoration of a unique trench gas lighter made from brass, metal and a rifle bullet tip. This is a real historical artifact that is about 100 years old. Presumably, this artifact was made in one instance. I bought this lighter at an antique auction. Its owner said that he found it, during renovations, in the old house of his grandfather, who fought during World War 2. It was probably made in 1920-1940. If you have come across something similar and know more information about this extraordinary find, then write in the comments, I will be very interested to read. I received the lighter in very bad condition, it is all rusty and its surface is very damaged in corrosion and patina. Presumably, the lighter was lying among rusty garbage and scrap metal. After receiving this lighter, I immediately began to restore it. It was very interesting to see the result of the restoration and whether it would work. So, I demonstrated the entire process of restoration of this relic in my video. The work took a lot of time and effort. I suggest you view my work and evaluate the result of the restoration😊. Enjoy watching the video!📺

Wow, where do you find these old lighters? It makes me sad that these beautiful works of art were replaced by cheap, disposable plastic lighters and then smoking was essentially banned. What a collection you must have! Always enjoy these videos. I love restorations of things from times I wished I lived in. Everything was built to last and there were beautiful decorations on the simplest things.
These weren't commercially made, they were made by soldiers during war, typically WWI, hence the name “trench lighter”
the bestest of the bestest restorations.. nice sound too.
9.5 /10 for not drinking tea.. rest awsome.. 👍
Thank you very much. I am glad that you liked the video and the work. And what kind of tea?)

You really do have a great way if bringing everything back to life. Thanks for sharing your video with us. 10/10 😊
Stay safe and healthy.
Greetings from Fairfield California USA 😊😊
It really turned out amazingly well. The leather absorber washer should be reversed, skin side facing the bolt head though. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!👍😉
Nice job! Now it just needs some kind of cap for the wick to prevent lighter fluid for evaporating. Perhaps something like a spent cartridge would fit the theme.
Cool! Thanks for the advice. I'll think of something)

Curious that someone was willing to give up this rare piece of heritage. I imagine it is challenging to restore items like this sensibly and to preserve its originality.
10 out of 10. Beautiful restoration
Thanks!👍 Where are you watching from?🌍😉
Very nice restoration. I have never seen anything mase from a grenade. That was an awesome find. Congratulations.
Thank you very much!) Glad you liked the work

I may not have the time to invest in such a project, but I do have half an hour to watch you do it!😉😎
Por supuesto un 10 , una restauración impresionante
Now that is a cool lighter. Great work. 10
Thank you!👍😉
Looks good to me.
Very nice restoration
Great job❤
Thank you!)
It is possible that this is the period of World War I. The information is useful. Thank you!
Brawo świetna robota👍👍👍

Hello, you doing great job. please can you tell me which camera you had used for this video..? its a mobile phone or camera...? Thank you.
Amazing restoration! Your videos are so satisfying. 10/10 for me.
This guy DOES NOT RESTORE ANYTHING... HE TAKES A CLEAN ITEM AND COOKS SUGAR AND DIRT ONTO IT, HE DOESNT EVEN HAVE TO CLEAN IT BECAUSE HE JUST SHIWS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE. EFOR HE COVERED IT IN FAKE RUST.. ALL HIS ITEMS ARE BRASS.. BRASS DOESNT RUST!
Verdaderamente hermoso travajo😊
¡Muchas gracias!)
Kompliment 👍👍👍
Thank you!😉💚
If the person who originally owned that lighter, l am sure they would be delighted if they could see it now. 9

Thank you for viewing! 😉👍
nice
WOW 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I've been a sub for awhile, you do fantastic work. To answer your question, i do believe that this piece is circa WWII.
10😊😊😊
The lighter is quite nice but not very practical, inconvenient to use and carry, and there is no cap... If I were building such a lighter, I would make a cap out of the projectile, which would work like in modern zippo lighters, for example... The video is great :) Renovation 10/10 :) Greetings from Poland
Thank you very much! I will make a cap in the future. Thank you Poland for supporting Ukraine!
@@TheRestorer Brothers should be helped in need after all :)
It looks like the SS Enterprise. Man, everything was mad3 to last back then.
Maybe. Where are you watching from?🌍😉
@@TheRestorer I’m in California.
Great work. Curious why you didn’t solder them back together?
Thank you!👍😉

Holy handgrande from Worms!!
Be careful💓
Thanks!😉👍
Use some of that steel wool as a desoldering wick next time.
If you want to wipe solder off something, putting a little flux on the rag helps a lot.
Where do you find these gems? Nice job
Thanks😉👍

Thanks for the advice) Coming soon...
Why not use a fiber ring or rubber ring as gasket?
The skin seals better
What kind of skin? Leather? As for as i know leather is not 100% waterproof. But rating the job still a 9. That 1 point is because of the edit. We missed a few shots or I did not pay attention. Did you repair the crack/split. And did you use water the first time. There was no info or was it a secret :)..
That is not a grenade. It is a bullet casing fitted onto a brass door knob.
Honestly I think it would look better if the ammo looked like brass but that's just my opinion.🤷♂️
can i got one of that old lighter ?
Querru saber e tá minha tîopa 🎉.
🤔😉
Great job and great use of steel wool 👍
Thanks!)
Wasn't there a little ring in the wheel?
What ring?
@@TheRestorer To put into the hole...
Why do you use acid on one and coke & baking soda on another. Not questioning just nosy lol
It's trench art WWI
Iron (red) rust on brass... really? It supposed to be green. Next time paint it green, might gonna believe ;)
Brass can oxidize a darker brown, red and green, you're probably thinking of copper
I also have no idea what the point of this comment was supposed to be, telling us it wasn't old? Okay I guess
?
rust spilled from the metal parts. it is obvious.
An object that is about 100 years old looks like this. Metal rusts, non-ferrous metals oxidize and patina. This is normal. It's surprising that someone thinks that it is painted))))
german WW1 bullet (7,92 S)
do 10-15min video its too lenth all are watching 2×speed
why did you use epoxy and not argon copper welding? Why is the bottom padding made of leather and not rubber? the skin will not hold tight. If authenticity is important, then it was necessary to solder with tin, not epoxy glue.
Thanks for the advice
Brilliant. This one did not get as “shiny.” Was that a chance to look more authentic? Or was the metal that pitted? Could you please name the powder you toss in with the acetate? Rate it a 10. Sorry, I put the comment in the wrong spot
