We took this CD to Ibiza in 96 and it was the best holiday of my life. Quality memories! Not just for the CD but the 1st holiday without my parents with my mates and having some top times!!!
It's been years & years since I've heard this, I'm not even sure if I've still got the album but I definitely had my moneys worth, they really was the good old days...
Just saw them in Brum on the farewell tour - oh man, they've still got it. I can't think of many contemporary bands that play that tight, write so poignantly or in Mark's case, sing that well live! Thanks guys - it was a heck of a ride!
um I felt like a outcast listening to this in 1996 in the US while others were still on recycled grunge or crap nu-metal hip hop...feels good to know I was right
I love the fact they would come on stage to Poison by the Prodigy. seen them in Cardiff in a club the size of a phonebox a few years back. We were chanting Blue army Blue army! Their faces were a picture. Great, great band.
The Bluetones are still going strong and tour the UK at least twice a year!!! They are touring at the moment do a search...support them ..they are the best band to see live!
I love them as much now as i did then! was 16 when this was released, going to see them in manchester in december 09, can't bloody wait! Saw them in leicester a couple of years ago and nearly cried it was that good.
i have no idea why these r so under rated they really do hav sum classic tunes. i love em, but for sum reason i didnt properly hear of them til after a the 'britpop' thing. maybe im too young im only 22
Reminds me of Shooting Fish. Love that film... even if it's a tad soppy. Still, it beats all recent romantic comedes - egh. Why wass everything so much better in past?
There it is 2:31. I always wondered why the audio dipped on the album at that point. The sound engineer fucked up there. I was always re-adjusting the volume.
Best album of the 90s this one we didnt know how good we had it with the bands at the time, now we have absolute rubbish (mostly yank rubbish) God I Miss the 90s
When I am sad and weary When all my hope is gone And I can't put my finger On the time things first went wrong I have a little secret I like to tell myself And until now I haven't told anybody else You may not see things my way Like my method or my reasons But you can't tell me that I'm wrong There's no heart you can't melt With a certain little smile (certain little smile) And no challenge should be faced Without a little charm and a lot of style So don't put your faith in time She heals but doesn't change (heals but doesn't change) And only a fool won't take the Chance to stay the same When I am sad and weary When all my hope is gone I walk around my house And think of you with nothing on And I have a list of things I go over in my mind When I can just sit right back And watch the world unwind You may not see things my way I don't care 'cause I'm not asking But you can't tell me that I'm wrong There's no heart you can't melt With a certain little smile (certain little smile) And no challenge should be faced Without a little charm and a lot of style So don't put your faith in time She heals but doesn't change (heals but doesn't change) And only a fool won't take the Chance to stay the same There's no heart you can't melt With a certain little smile (certain little smile) And no challenge should be faced Without a little charm and a lot of style So don't put your faith in time She heals but doesn't change (heals but doesn't change) And only a fool won't take the Chance to stay the same Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! wie klang madlaysia.
@laurenmcintyre - Still are, I think you'll find, they still put on a damn good live set, and Science & Nature is an excellent album (though that's kinda old now too). :D
@JeredtheShy - I do ignore the radio, but I wish I didn't have to. I know LOADS of awesome and talented bands out there at the moment (flipron, 12 stone toddler, kaizer's orchestra, to name a few), and the amount of good (in some respects) that the digital revolution has had. But you can;t deny that there is a vast and overwhelming wave of utter bollocks being pumped out all the time, and that there was a lot less of it (or at least the general public didn't think it was good) in the 90's.
Yep mate colorado beetle along with likes of teenage jesus, castle rock, dont stand me down etc. Those collection of b-sides are better than most of the stuff polluting the charts at the moment. The Bluetones were vastly underated yet so important to British music.
My God, I haven't listened to this in years. Having heard it, I feel the urge to wear an ill fitting Reebok jumper and find some nerds to sit with. And not be liked. Oh, memories ...
So I discovered this band through Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.....and I must say....I fucking love this band and yes......I thank Scott Pilgrim for that. For those who dont know about Scott Pilgrim...I highly recommened reading the comic books and watching the movie cause its FRIGGIN EPIC!!
Most of the singles you'll find here are on "Expecting To Fly" their 1st and best. I really enjoyed their 2nd, "Return to the Last Chance Saloon", though it probably takes a bit more getting into, some heavier/complex stuff there. They did 2 more, neither of them did much for me TBH.
listining to this when it 1st came out in America - in the minority listining to bluetones/oasis/charlatns/pulp/blur/suede - knew I was right then and now
Don't worry mate, I listen to BBC 6, play gigs as well as attend them and use the internet for good music. A comment is just that, a thought. Something a video makes you want to express. Those were my thoughts one year ago, no need for the paragraph of advice, cheers though.
@JeredtheShy - LIES! How can a time when autotune is considered 'cool' be better than a time when tunes like this were top of the charts? A time when I could actually listen to radio 1 without turning the radio off in disgust at horrific atrocities that are current pop 'songs'?! *feels prematurely old, I'm only 23 :( *
We took this CD to Ibiza in 96 and it was the best holiday of my life. Quality memories! Not just for the CD but the 1st holiday without my parents with my mates and having some top times!!!
AAAAAAnnnd I just discovered this band. Apparently I've been living in a cave for the last 20 years.
2020 and still a class song.
GOOD BAND !!! One of the best in the marvellous ninetines !!!
They use to play this every Wednesday night at The Academy nightclub in Southampton. And on the rare occasions they didn't i always requested it!!
It's been years & years since I've heard this, I'm not even sure if I've still got the album but I definitely had my moneys worth, they really was the good old days...

The inspiration for the lyrics to Bluetonic is from a poem by Adrain Mitchell, called Celia Celia. In case anyone's interested.
I remember just how open they were when they came to New York. Very down to Earth and AMAZING when it was time to play.... I FEEL OLD!!!!
um I felt like a outcast listening to this in 1996 in the US while others were still on recycled grunge or crap nu-metal hip hop...feels good to know I was right
Another album that I played on repeat for months back in the day - still top drawer!!!
One of the best. Legends.

Just watched the live stream on Facebook. Excellent stuff Mark Morriss, thanks.
great song.... it catapults me back to the 90ies ♥
I agree with you completely. The first album was a blast indeed. They could have been one of the greatest bands ever!
Ah wow, this takes me back! Must put Bluetones onto my Ipod now!!!
When I am sad and weary
When I think all hope has gone
When I walk along High Holborn
I think of you with nothing on.
やっぱりええ曲ですなぁ❤
Yes, it still sounds fresh all these years later ❤
This is ****** brilliant. Thankyou Radio 6.
I love the fact they would come on stage to Poison by the Prodigy. seen them in Cardiff in a club the size of a phonebox a few years back. We were chanting Blue army Blue army! Their faces were a picture. Great, great band.

i have no idea why these r so under rated they really do hav sum classic tunes. i love em, but for sum reason i didnt properly hear of them til after a the 'britpop' thing. maybe im too young im only 22

Filmed in Hounslow where I was living in student digs at the time. They were out local band!
Still love this so much.
Saw them on Monday (12/9/11) @ Newcastle, simply awesome. Sad end of an era.
Love the mighty mighty tones. Hadn't seen this video before though.
this has to be one of their best
when this album came out i listened to it 24/7 for like 2 weeks.
best song.
Saw these in worthing...so underrated.
Heard them in Scott pilgrim and learned they were a 90s band. No wonder i like them so much!
ha ha, you too, I've seen them quite a few times too. I'll look out for ya next time x
Reminds me of Shooting Fish. Love that film... even if it's a tad soppy.
Still, it beats all recent romantic comedes - egh.
Why wass everything so much better in past?
BMFSTONECOLD2 nice and simple movie.Loved the soundtrack with Space et al
Im going to see these tonight =D can't wait
There it is 2:31. I always wondered why the audio dipped on the album at that point. The sound engineer fucked up there. I was always re-adjusting the volume.
Brand new song out in the UK in September and album out soon!?!?!Touring the UK at the end of this year!
Brilliant brilliant band. 4 eva. Bluuuuuuuuuuuue Army!
Guitar work is epic
this was my tune of the 90s ,
Best album of the 90s this one we didnt know how good we had it with the bands at the time, now we have absolute rubbish (mostly yank rubbish) God I Miss the 90s
favorite bluetones song
great track.
When I am sad and weary
When all my hope is gone
And I can't put my finger
On the time things first went wrong
I have a little secret
I like to tell myself
And until now I haven't told anybody else
You may not see things my way
Like my method or my reasons
But you can't tell me that I'm wrong
There's no heart you can't melt
With a certain little smile (certain little smile)
And no challenge should be faced
Without a little charm and a lot of style
So don't put your faith in time
She heals but doesn't change (heals but doesn't change)
And only a fool won't take the
Chance to stay the same
When I am sad and weary
When all my hope is gone
I walk around my house
And think of you with nothing on
And I have a list of things
I go over in my mind
When I can just sit right back
And watch the world unwind
You may not see things my way
I don't care 'cause I'm not asking
But you can't tell me that I'm wrong
There's no heart you can't melt
With a certain little smile (certain little smile)
And no challenge should be faced
Without a little charm and a lot of style
So don't put your faith in time
She heals but doesn't change (heals but doesn't change)
And only a fool won't take the
Chance to stay the same
There's no heart you can't melt
With a certain little smile (certain little smile)
And no challenge should be faced
Without a little charm and a lot of style
So don't put your faith in time
She heals but doesn't change (heals but doesn't change)
And only a fool won't take the
Chance to stay the same
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
wie klang madlaysia.
Just a great tune!
@laurenmcintyre - Still are, I think you'll find, they still put on a damn good live set, and Science & Nature is an excellent album (though that's kinda old now too). :D
Their early stuff was great and this is a top tune.
i was a great time to be growing up, if i had a time machine i would go straight back to 1996

@JeredtheShy - I do ignore the radio, but I wish I didn't have to. Im still living in britpop world.
Anyone heard colorado beetle (b-side)? What a song - the kind of song that you wish you had written yourself!
hia, I'm new at this. Did you know the adrian mitchell thing or that I wasn't being clever?
Bluetones R.I.P.
Same reason I'm here too!
