I once trained with old master from Japan who smoked. He laughed and said I'm not an athlete I'm a fighter.

It's the little nuances in the coordination of the movements that tell you whether someone is a legitimate martial artist or just a show-off. This man seems to be the real deal. He is well-centered, has good footwork and excellent economy of motion.

Very good video sirs. May I question? Was this filmed in Vietnam? Is the school in Vietnam? I'm asking because I saw someone on Reddit asking about Choy Lee Fut schools in
    Vietnam.

This style seems to focus on defending low widely swung punches to the outside of the body

Nah, the idea is that you're coming in from an angle. So, you and turn the dude so that you're hitting him from an angle. Kind of like in Peek A Boo boxing.

what? im just saying your kicks might not get inside the range of choy lee fut especially if your kicks has a resistence delay just cause you make a great impact doesnt mean jack shit when you cant stand in the range of attacks. If you accelerate your momentum, and then torque your torso in the opposite direction as your kick..your going to have this huge delay gap of returning to initial position and thats where you get fucked up for stepping inside the bubble range of choy lee fut...HARD. if you wanna use a taekwondo style against this then i suggest the taekwondo guy dont hope around too much and make sure his kicks are commited straights because if your roundhouse is shit and has that delay i said, the choy lee fut will absorb that delay time and fuck everything up in its path so dont jump in and then out cause you will for sure get fucked up like that in choy lee fut. Just my opinion not saying choy lee fut is better

God only knows how many street fights Bruce Lee won before he left Hong Kong. He was such a notorious street fighter the police were getting ready to arrest him for it.

it is not hard to trap a jab at all i do it all the time and further more most people don't jab they swing wide or throw straight punches without retrieving them.

I'll say it over and over unless you put pads on sparring is useless these guys like the rest of most of these videos are just tapping around there no way to see if you cantake a hit or even give one under real pressure. Oh and by the way i have practiced choy le fut. And other styles and it all the same pad up and stop playing around.
