- NEW YORK (March 23, 2016) - A hand built 3.8L twin-turbo V6 lies at the heart of every Nissan GT-R. Each engine in the 2017 GT-R is assembled by one of five master craftsman - we call them Takumi - at Nissan’s plant in Yokohama, Japan. This is story about what it takes to become a Nissan Takumi and their remarkable skill of precision craftsmanship unparalleled by man or machine.

Got to respect this masters and engineers who build this engine. A 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 hand-assembled by craftspeople called Takumi. The engine now makes 565 horsepower and 467 pound-feet of torque, increasing of 20 hp and 4 lb-ft.
Is in it that sweet?,... from a V6 ? That's just one of the things that i love from this car, NOT a hipper car!!...but still can hang out with them and show off what it can do.
My admiration and respect to the builders and of course, my dream car...NISSAN GT-R.
The gtr is overhyped lol, the one you see in video games and the ones in real life are completely different. 💁🏻♂️

Gtr and Nissan lack heritage, they copy what those “expensive badge heritage cars” have been already doing. There’s a reason why the gtr is the cheaper car 💁🏻♂️

Saw a video of how 458 F136F engines being hand-built, the difference is, Ferrari workers are monitored by sensors and computers lol While GT-R workers are on their own but this doesn't affect the quality quite much, it just means GT-R workers are much sophisticated and well trained. For engine spec, I think Nissan GT-R have one of the best VVT system programming which gains flatter torque curve amount most sub 4 liters back in 2007. The engine is strong problem is the GR6 transmission doesn't have the right welding gasket to handle high torque. VR38 is one of the most capable engine to be honest, most power per psi among most engines in similar displacement.
The Ferrari engine is a true masterpiece, they are superior and far better crafted, and the computers are only optional to for quality assurance. The gtr engines are assembled using an exclusive VR blueprint software program to guide the technicians lol and have to go through multiple inspections for quality assurance to make sure the tech didn’t screw anything up lol. I guess there’s a reason why the gtr is the cheaper car in the segment.
LOL.. you can't be off one tooth on the timing chain. yet 2 or 3?? The vibrations should feel the same on every one of these handbuilt engines. Very clean assembly areas. Well built Rockets..!!

Although I can appreciate this engine and these guys assembling it, I would still prefer a straight six like the original - perfect primary and secondary balance and an intoxicating sound. Not saying V6's dont sound good, just that straight 6's sound better! imho ;)

エンジンはいいんだけど、内装がすぐにボロボロになったり、ライトの中に水がたまったり、トランクにも水が、、、もちょっと 乗用車としてマシなものを作ってよ。。。レーシングカートは違うんだからさぁ。。。 だから日産は乗用車メーカーとしては2流なんだよなぁ

And the gtr is German lol. Many engine composted in the gtr are made in Germany lol. The nsx is a more superior car to the gtr and being US built is what helped the nsx have a successful comeback. Also the nsx is sleek and much better looking, almost reminds me of an R8 and McLaren for the back. The gtr is like the fat girl in the club hanging out with all the sexy super models lolol! 😂🤣😭💀

This video is overhyped lol. There is more passing the engine around random bays while they assemble larger components that are 3D printed. Nissan copied this method from AMG their partner MB’s performance division so that they can justify the outrageous price of the gtr. Not quite working out considering that they sell for well below their msrp. That in itself doesn’t make it a bad thing or a bad car but when you factor in the fact that it’s just a Nissan and the fact that there are cars out there for less than $100k that embarrass the gtr you quickly begin to realize that the hundred $100k in your bank looks a lot better than a gtr in the garage

nothing they said in this video is beyond what a well respected mechanic does on a daily basis, evaluating a mechanical problem by sound and feel are basics. and tolerances are normally measured in microns on the most basic of engine builds/rebuilds. basically Nissan was smart and just hired good mechanics instead of robots.
+turbonut20v And how many well respected mechanics are there? Like 0.0000000000000000000000001%. I have yet to see a well respected mechanic who could tell me what's wrong just by tapping into his senses. Hell i can feel what's wrong with the car yet they all go like "what bruh it's fine i can't hear anything wrong" yet my engine is so quietly crackling you can barely notice it and it started recently.
They didn't hire good mechanics. They hired builders. Mechanics fix and rebuild cars. Engine builders build engines from scrap.
