The Suspicious Rise of Baby Keem...

  • Baby Keem is an amazing rapper with a very interesting come up. Before his popular hit singles such as Orange Soda, Gang Activities, Hooligans, and Family Ties, many were under the impression that he was simply this underground artist who was starting create some buzz off of a few albums. The strange thing is that he got recogonzied really fast - gaining early recognition from Drake, Tyler the Creator, Travis Scott and many more. Things began to make sense when people did some digging and found out his cousin was none other than Mr. Kendrick Lamar. A few interviews don't match his later ones. In one interview iwth Pigeons and Planes - he tried to make it seem as if he got connected with TDE by simply sending them some beats to their emai;l. Where as in another interview, he claimed to have the gotten the connection thru Kendrick Lamar taking interest into his music and wanting to, quote, "Show everyone in the studio". Nonethelss, it was a succesful journey, as Baby Keem was much more respected since his foundation was already built by the time people figured it out. Kendrick Lamar is becoming a great leader, and making use of his skillsets to bring other great artists like, Baby Keem, to the spotlight they derserve.
Comment your thoughts on Baby Keem, and what got you into his music.

Kendrick didn't even know he was making music for some years after Keem started making music and generating buzz. Kendrick saw an opportunity to uplift another member of his family who had already did the work for himself and his own buzz going. I'd say this more of a huge assist from Kendrick than Keem just being an "industry plant"

Industry plant is a dumb term because everybody in the industry has connections at different levels. As for the family tie to Kendrick, everybody has family, cousins, siblings, etc... If that's all it took then we'd see a lot more relatives making it big. Those connections only go so far, you better have the connections, money, hard work, talent, AND luck behind you. It's all relative.

Baby Keem is one of the guys that the online underground scene considers a modern day GOAT and I just don’t understand it.
Some people argue that if Keem didn’t have connections, he would have got big either way, but I digress. I constantly listen to underground artists that make music that far outshines Keem and those guys still havent made it
The reality is that talent isn’t going to make someone blow up and for some reason, the underground scene doesn’t accept this. The truth is that connections and marketing will make one become big and that’s why Baby Keem is in the situation he is in

Now that rap has blown up in the past 20 years, people who never cared about Black music are only now riding the wave. We, the culture, know and watch because we grew up in this music. Doubting Black artist's authenticity while far less impressive (and Black) acts crowd the space we made is getting old. If you weren't A1 from day one, just say that.

If you have connections and talent why not capitalize? Keem has the talent that even if he didn't have connections to Kendrick he would probably still make it. He is very unique in his style and delivery. I went to the Mmbs tour and honestly got more out of keems performance than Kendricks
