I don’t understand the concept of a “dead game”. I play games that are decades old with no expansions, and I’m still pretty pleased with them. A good game rarely stops being good.
It's probably a carry-over from multiplayer video games, which can "die" if the player base gets too low. That's not really a thing that happens with physical board games.
Most of the reviewers seem to omit one of the most significant changes that this expansion introduces: free-flowing power tokens. You can bribe other players or prove your loyalty to them. Now you have a PHYSICAL currency for negotiations (not just your words). This drastically changes the politics in the game (for the better).
I think SU&SD really summarized it well.. If you're going to play an epic 4 hour long heavy game, you might as well go full on nutty and make it an even more epic 5 hour game.
@@ryusorata which are both not as satisfying as a meaningful 5 hour game at least for me, i enjoy it way more if my actions have more impact, but if a game only lasts 1 hour then my actions only have consequences for 1 hour, after that the next game starts and my board is wiped clean again. i prefer having to think about my choices and if i mess up i'll have to find a way to somewhat fix it. or if someone else messes up i can try to find a way to get an advantage from that. i hate it when both clever plays and big mistakes are too forgiving or without impact

Andy Mesa I guess what I mean is, a game that’s no longer supported with new content. Not an aspersions against the game lol.
Yeah, it's a misnomer.

Are bribes binding though? If I pay you 10 power tokens to attack another player, do you have to do that?
@@Bradatimrkonja Nothing is ever binding in the world of Westeros. ;)
@@JB-zi3dr hahah, true
I got the Mother of Dragons expansion but haven't played with it yet. Hopefully soon!
For the Iron Bank, if you buy an offer you don't shift the cards over immediately like you did in the vid. that only happens at the start of next turn

Good, substantive review.
