All Mig 29 UPG should get Zhuk AE radar. It will bring it's detection range to 260 km from the current 120 kms. That's an amazing jump. Along with D 29 (5th gen. E/W suite developed by DRDO) and a weapon package consisting of Astra Mk1, RVV AE and further Astra Mk2 and Astra IR (In future), it will have a huge advantage over the entire PAF and PLAAF's J7, J8, J 10, J 11. PAF's best fighter F 16 has a detection range of 120 km and the new JF 17 Block 3 would have a detection range of 170-200 km. So our Mig 29UPG would still be way ahead of the rest. This will allow us to use Mig 29's till atleast 2035. While Su 30 should get Irbis E Radar whose detection range is 350-400 km for the Super Sukhoi Upgrade. The same radar is fitted in Su 35. Again Super Sukhoi with it's Irbis E powerful radar, reduced RCS, DRDO's indigenous 5th gen. E/W suite and a weapons package consisting of Astra Mk1, I Derby ER, RVV AE, Mica and both Astra Mk2, Astra IR (in future), it will make our Su 30 a 4.5 gen. fighter, thus giving us a major advantage over both PAF and PLAAF bringing it at par with Chinese Su 35 and American F 15 EX. Overall:- Super Sukhoi (Irbis E PESA)- 350-400 km Mig 29 UPG (Zhuk AE AESA)- 260 km Rafale (RBE 2 AESA)- 250+ km Tejas Mk1A (Elta 2052 EL/M AESA)- 250+ km Tejas Mk1 (Elta 2032 ER)(An advanced variant of Elta 2032 but it's not an AESA radar)-200-220 km Mirage 2000 (RBY 2 Pulse Dopler Radar)- 120 km Jaguar Darin 3 (Elta 2052 AESA)- 150 km Tejas MWF(Uttam AESA radar)- 250-270 km (expected) With good BVR Package and top E/W systems it will give us a major air superiority advantage over both PLAAF and PAF. On the other hand maximum range of Pakistani Aircraft after the induction of JF 17 Block 3 would be around 200 kms, for F 16 it is 120 kms and it will bring us at par and in some aspects make us better than PLAAF quality wise. Quantity wise China will still hold the edge.

At that time also (During the UPG upgrade of old fighters) we didn't have the option of AESA radars as it might not have been matured then or maybe Russia was thinking that we would go for Mig 35. The new Mig 29 being ordered will also have the same RD 33 Series 3 engines but is getting a much more powerful radar. Hence we should upgrade only the radars of the remaining Mig 29. If you are speaking about Su 30, then we will have to see. Getting an Irbis E or Byelka would help Su 30MKI reach the level of Su 35 which will be huge boost to our capabilities in an Air War. Since we have to use Su 30 for atleast 25 more years, we might as well upgrade it's engines as well so that we have atleast 2 fighters i.e Super Sukhoi and Rafale capable enough of taking Su 35 and J 20 of Chinese PLAAF while the remaining Super Sukhoi and Mig 29 will take care of the entire Pakistani fleet.

@@mr.mastermind4840 I don't think we would get a new engines for just 21 Mig 29 and leave the rest 65 odd with a less powerful engine. Another reason for not doing so would be that if it is done then it would creat logistical problems as well, specially when we are looking to use these Mig 29 for another 15 years, so i doubt if these new Mig 29 would have any new engine to power the radar. Also over here i am talking about Mig 29 UPG and not Mig 35. If the 21 Mig 29UPG that we have ordered, get these new radars then we can install them in the rest of the fleet of 65 fighters as well. This would ease the logistics chain as well and bring more uniformity.
Very good information . Very nice and good analysis , I have seen so far. You have studied Mig 29 and its upgrade very well. It is notable to mention that Mig 29 has many similarities with Su 27 but many major differences. Su 27 used fly by wire whereas Mig 29 had three axis auto pilot control, thereby reducing cost and making less dependent on computer. Thanx for nice video.

Your videos are the best in defence sector. Please make a video on how much power is needed for different AESA radars. Why cant 2 engines like AL series in sukhoi or RD33 in migs can power a AESA radar mentioned in your video. Also how can a single engine F35 can power all the electronics in this jet.Why cant we use a turbine system used in growlers as attachments for electronics.
Brother this thought has been bugging me since I saw updates on this, I feel its highly unlikely and the reason I say this is because during the development of the AESA generation of zhuk radars which was pretty much introduced by 2005 and they had already planned future versions I believe when IAF looked forward to the upgrades Russia would have naturally pitched an AESA radar which didnt happen and even later in 2012 I remeber the chief designer at MiG remarking that upgs are the most advanced variant, and if such an upgrade was a possiblity and we know that it definitely is since everyone is considering AESA now even in the mirage upgrades but here In mig upgrade plan it was never discussed nor brought up which shows how they never planned on putting an AESA on this aircraft. Plus RD33s are as powerful now or not that might be debatable since these AESAs gallium arsenite based (sorry if I misspelled that). Because of these few reasons and potentially even more I don't think it's very likely

Mig29k is the one which was on Mig35 platform now it's time to upgrade the Mig29k Naval to AESA radar it is using RD33mk engine which has 7% more power then Mig29 Airforce.

Untill we get the MWFs in bulk say about 10 squadrons or around 200 aircraft, we should augment the squadron strength with 6 squadrons of MIG 35s so as to have 272 Su 30 mki, 72 Rafale &120 Tejas MK1A. This would help us make up the 42 squadrons or about 752 aircraft.

A more powerful radar would normally need more power, but not if they're gallium arsenide (GaAs) or gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor based. Both emit higher radio frequency power than previous technologies - resulting in lighter, more powerful electronic circuits. Gallium nitride is more efficient at transferring current, which means less energy is lost to heat. So, the same engine would be able to power a more powerful radar, provided it is GaAs or GaN based.
Soviet planes: low stealth and higher maneuverability and speed; lower reliability. US planes: better stealth, lower maneuverability and speed; higher reliability. Each has its advantages depending on the battle conditions. FInally, the pilot makes a big difference.

In this video you're claiming that mig35 is better and more reliable than mig29 and also justifying how mig29upg is good enough for our needs to counter f16. Russian aircraft are good at Maneuvarablility and performance but are bad at maintenance and avionics, this is as simple as that.. you upgrade the avionics they become good.
Lets just set up an alliance with USA . Get a good loan like .5% and buy 114 f15ex , f18 for navy and another 36 Rafael now then we focus on AMCA , Tejas 2 and ORCA and loop in Taiwan , Vietnam , Phillipines and Turkeys enemies to invest so we supply to all our enemies enemies to boost make in India
first of all, Mig29K is outdated and India SHOULD look to get more advanced naval jets. Moreover India SHOULD look to get jets from US as well. India is putting all its eggs into one basket, which is a MAJOR disadvantage. US jets are also far more better than some Russian made jets. We SHOULD look to have a diverse group of jets so that it gives a tactical advantage over our enemies. china has many jets like Mig29 and Su30 from Russia which india also has. So Chinese will KNOW how to deal with India. But at the same time if India has jets from US, then it ill be a challenge for CHina and Pak to deal with them because they dont have it!!! IAF SHOULD RETIRE Mig21 B and Mig 29K and get more advanced jets to gain more power!!
China doesn't have mig 29. Apart from J7 which is a mig 21 copy. They don't have any copied Mogs in their fleet or any original Mig in their fleet. They have a very limited number of Russian aircrafts. Because most of their fleet consists of Russian copy of Sukhois

To upgrade with radar you need new radars to supply power to radars.
@@Sacrafago90 Engine has already been upgraded. At that time also (During the UPG upgrade of old fighters) we didn't have the option of AESA radars as it might not have been matured then or maybe Russia was thinking that we would go for Mig 35.
The new Mig 29 being ordered will also have the same RD 33 Series 3 engines but is getting a much more powerful radar. Hence we should upgrade only the radars of the remaining Mig 29.
If you are speaking about Su 30, then we will have to see. Getting an Irbis E or Byelka would help Su 30MKI reach the level of Su 35 which will be huge boost to our capabilities in an Air War. Since we have to use Su 30 for atleast 25 more years, we might as well upgrade it's engines as well so that we have atleast 2 fighters i.e Super Sukhoi and Rafale capable enough of taking Su 35 and J 20 of Chinese PLAAF while the remaining Super Sukhoi and Mig 29 will take care of the entire Pakistani fleet.

@@advaityachandhoke1406 Mig 35 has the latest variant of Rd 33 engine. The engines may be same in most aspects but there is a noticeable difference between them. Tge newer engine was designed to be more reliable and it also comes with FADEC which the UPG variants engines don't have
@@mr.mastermind4840 I don't think we would get a new engines for just 21 Mig 29 and leave the rest 65 odd with a less powerful engine. Another reason for not doing so would be that if it is done then it would creat logistical problems as well, specially when we are looking to use these Mig 29 for another 15 years, so i doubt if these new Mig 29 would have any new engine to power the radar.
Also over here i am talking about Mig 29 UPG and not Mig 35. If the 21 Mig 29UPG that we have ordered, get these new radars then we can install them in the rest of the fleet of 65 fighters as well. This would ease the logistics chain as well and bring more uniformity.

It is notable to mention that Mig 29 has many similarities with Su 27 but many major differences. Su 27 used fly by wire whereas Mig 29 had three axis auto pilot control, thereby reducing cost and making less dependent on computer. Thanx for nice video.

Why cant 2 engines like AL series in sukhoi or RD33 in migs can power a AESA radar mentioned in your video. Brother this thought has been bugging me since I saw updates on this, I feel its highly unlikely and the reason I say this is because during the development of the AESA generation of zhuk radars which was pretty much introduced by 2005 and they had already planned future versions I believe when IAF looked forward to the upgrades Russia would have naturally pitched an AESA radar which didnt happen and even later in 2012 I remeber the chief designer at MiG remarking that upgs are the most advanced variant, and if such an upgrade was a possiblity and we know that it definitely is since everyone is considering AESA now even in the mirage upgrades but here In mig upgrade plan it was never discussed nor brought up which shows how they never planned on putting an AESA on this aircraft. Plus RD33s are as powerful now or not that might be debatable since these AESAs gallium arsenite based (sorry if I misspelled that).
Because of these few reasons and potentially even more I don't think it's very likely

The air force variant called '𝘉𝘢𝘢𝘻,’, by the IAF, are of 80s vintage. They have now been upgraded to 'UPG' standard. The upgrade didn't include replacing the hydraulic controls and SAU-451 three-axis autopilot with a fly-by-wire control system. Nevertheless, the fighter jets are still are extremely agile.

There's another aspect too. Since around 60% of our combat and transport aircraft are of Russian origin, it's not in our strategic interests to "𝘱𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘨𝘨𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘶𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘵". Especially since Russian supply of spares is erratic. And… since they want to make money on spares, they refuse to develop local suppliers.
(So… buying the MiG-35 or even the Su-75 𝘊𝘩𝘦𝘤𝘬𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 would be out of question.)

A radar needs power and that has to come from the engine. A more powerful radar would normally need more power, but not if they're gallium arsenide (GaAs) or gallium nitride (GaN) semiconductor based. Both emit higher radio frequency power than previous technologies - resulting in lighter, more powerful electronic circuits. Gallium nitride is more efficient at transferring current, which means less energy is lost to heat.
So, the same engine would be able to power a more powerful radar, provided it is GaAs or GaN based.

Soviet planes: low stealth and higher maneuverability and speed; lower reliability. US planes: better stealth, lower maneuverability and speed; higher reliability. Each has its advantages depending on the battle conditions. FInally, the pilot makes a big difference.

2. In this video you're claiming that mig35 is better and more reliable than mig29 and also justifying how mig29upg is good enough for our needs to counter f16. However in your previous video of mig29 and mig35 you trashed both of them saying how their engines are unreliable causing navy so much trouble.
This isn't nice. You need to stick to a narrative. You're confusing people.
Russian aircraft are good at Maneuvarablility and performance but are bad at maintenance and avionics, this is as simple as that.. you upgrade the avionics they become good.

Dog fight is now obsolete and history.
first of all, Mig29K is outdated and India SHOULD look to get more advanced naval jets. Moreover India SHOULD look to get jets from US as well. India is putting all its eggs into one basket, which is a MAJOR disadvantage. US jets are also far more better than some Russian made jets. We SHOULD look to have a diverse group of jets so that it gives a tactical advantage over our enemies. china has many jets like Mig29 and Su30 from Russia which india also has. So Chinese will KNOW how to deal with India. But at the same time if India has jets from US, then it ill be a challenge for CHina and Pak to deal with them because they dont have it!!! IAF SHOULD RETIRE Mig21 B and Mig 29K and get more advanced jets to gain more power!!
China doesn't have mig 29. Apart from J7 which is a mig 21 copy. They don't have any copied Mogs in their fleet or any original Mig in their fleet. They have a very limited number of Russian aircrafts. Because most of their fleet consists of Russian copy of Sukhois
