Hahaha Billy you're thinking with a 2020's brain instead of a 1990's brain. Back then, who cared if it made sense? As long as it sounded good that's all that mattered. I was in college when these came out and that was my thinking process. lol
There's a whole verse missing from this "longer" version of the song, in the dance break near the end. It says: "So everybody everywhere, don't be afraid, don't have no fear. Gonna tell the world, make you understand. As long as there'll be music, we'll be coming back again". This one was my favorite verse of the song, actually.... I always thought that the song was a reference to the fact that they were releasing their second studio album, so they were "back". I love this song! I'm still a BSB fan all these years later. Great reaction!! 😊
I know right?! I don't know why many reactors pick this one to react to for this video because it cuts out the bridge and you get a long dance sequence, which doesn't seem necessary for a first time listener of the song. 🤨
Yeah the song was on their 2nd album Backstreets' Back. Their first album was never released in the states. So what we got here was Backstreet Boys which was like half their first album and half of Backstreet's Back originally without And even then there were a couple different release versions.
Correct. So in the States Backstreet Boys (1996) was never released here. In 1997 when they were ready to release Backstreet's Back, they were also ready to debut in the US. As the first album wasn't released here, for their US debut they combined the singles from the first album + what they thought were gonna be singles from Backstreet's Back minus this song. In 98 they decided to release this as a single so they added it to the second pressing of the album. Original has a maroon spine and the second has a teal spine.
Their bus broke down, they stayed in that haunted castle causing them to turn into that creatures aaaaand they made the best of it - Just rocked their bodies with the cool haunted girls. 😁🤷🏻♀️
What's the song about? They basically told you in the lyrics. 1. Backstreet's Back- annocincing that this was their comeback 2. Everybody, Rock Your Body- a dance anthem 3. Am I Original? Am I the Only One? Am I sexual?- they were obviously talking to their fans. This is where we the audience get to participate with our chant. For each of the questions asked. YEAAAAA! We answered along with the lyrics. MV- just another Halloween theme. It was quite entertaining back when it debuted and even today. The 30 second break was a missing verse that wasn't included the MV. It told the fans and haters alike that they will ALWAYS COME BACK ONCE THERE'S MUSIC. I love the bewt and dance break in the beginning.
I see a lot of ppl saying that verse wasn’t in the video but I have a memory of when i was in middle school (im 22 btw) where this MV came out on MTV for Halloween and it had that verse in the MV so am I part of that small group who only saw that now deleted part of the MV or was I dreaming?
This isn't actually true! It was made to look similar, but it's never been confirmed that it's Whipstaff, and if you look more closely, you can see many differences on the set. They are similar, but NOT the same. "From the exterior painted mansion shot that starts the video to it's Antoni Gaudi style interiors - and even the spiral pattern on the floor of the main hall - the aesthetic similarities between "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" and Casper are pretty undeniable. However, though fans have long speculated that they were, at least partially, filmed on the same set, that fact has never been officially confirmed by the band or director. Considering the amount of similarities, however, it feels safe to assume that "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" may have used some props from Casper, or at the very least, was simply inspired by the look of the 1995 movie. Whatever the truth is, the aesthetic definitely worked for the video."
@@ashleydowney1222 in the US they released a mix from their 1st and 2nd album as their "1st". But in the rest of the world we had "Backstreet Boys" and then "Backstreet Back's", so this song totally makes sense 'cause they were coming back 😊
Max Martin wrote a lot of their songs and he didn't fully know English, hence why the songs don't really make sense loool Also in the radio edit, there's lyrics in that 30 seconds of nothing
The video is bookended by scenes framing the context. When the Backstreet Boys' bus breaks down, their bus driver (Antonio Fargas) insisted that they spend a night at a nearby haunted house while he gets help. It then shows Brian Littrell preparing to sleep in one of the bedrooms. While he is in bed, he pulls out a scary animal from under his covers, making him scream in horror. The musical portion of the video plays as a dream sequence in which each band member appears as a different movie monster: Littrell as a werewolf; Howie Dorough as Dracula; Nick Carter as a mummy; AJ McLean as Erik, the Phantom of the Opera; and Kevin Richardson as Two-Face-like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The band, as monsters, mainly appear in their own individual vignettes related to their character, while they collectively appear in the foyer of the house, performing a dance routine with a group of additional dancers. Supermodel Josie Maran appears as Dorough's companion in his vignette. At the end of the video, Litrell wakes up realizing that all was a nightmare. He talks with the members about his dream, while trying to leave the house. However, the driver turns out to be the Frankenstein's monster, making the boys scream in horror. Tl;Dr: Monsters, fun, dancing. That’s it.

You need to watch some horror movies, The Munsters and all that stuff. :) In the 80's they did also make several horror themed videos for the songs. Yazoo did one, Real Life, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson of course, Imagination... Perhaps the point of it is just stream of conciousness, the questions that run into your mind at 4 am in the bed, keeping you wide awake, or just throw in some lyrics to driving beat.

Actually, the song is very deep in its lyrics. It's supposed to signify that listening to their music can cause one to eventually give into their most intimate desires. Since their main audience is adolescent girls, they're singing about allowing the music to take over their mind, soul, and body. It's basically a song for young girls to have some sexual awakening thru their music and then just sing and dance for endless period of time until they tire themselves out. 😆 So yeah... that's what this song means. 👌

"Am I everything you need? You better rock your body now!" summarizes the meaning of the song. It's a party song and they're singing about how they are just what you need. The title also summarizes it!
when max martin and Denniz pop wrote this song the boys were a big hit in Europe they had released their first album the red album which was huge. so when they released backstreet back with this song included it was kinda saying we are on our way home to the us and we are here to stay. are we original? meaning theres no other group like them, are we sexual? meaning are they sexy enough and are we everything you need? to rock your body yeah. kinda get it now.
This song is them announcing they are back...for their second album. Hence (backstreet's back) Oh and this is the extended version that has extra long music sections
This song reaction is exactly how I feel about hip hop today bro lol. Wtf is the subject matter!? So I remember 143 was a beeper code in this age that AJ used to send his gf, Mariesa, in the black dress in this video.... ... yeah... of all things to recall from this time of my life lol.
Ok. So a bit of background. Prior to this song was 95's "I'll Never Break Your Heart" which kind of bookended the 90's pop craze in the US. BSB then went and toured internationally for awhile. It wasn't until late 97 that BSB came back to the US with "Backstreet's Back" and revitalized the pop scene in the US. This is essentially the cornerstone of the song reminding US audiences of BSB's return and the shift from slowjam pop (like "I'll Never Break Your Heart") that BSB did in the early 90's to this hard-beat sexualized dance-inducing iteration of pop. Then, at the start of 98, *NSYNC debuted in the US with "I Want You Back" which essentially began the #BoyBandWars of the new millennium, and thus the golden age of pop was born.
I love this video because the band members are each transformed into classic movie monster ( The Wolfman, Dracula, the Phantom of the Opera, the Mummy and Dr. Jekyll/ Mr. Hyde). Really cool concept for a video.
The video clearly has some Thriller inspiration. The song feels so bare because the "As long as there be music we'll be comin back agaaaiaiaian~~" bridge is cut out in favor of the instrumental for some odd reason, maybe had something to do with the time it came out or they were afraid that lyric might backfire/seem egotistical lol idk. Here is that version: th-cam.com/video/NAAmAg72caQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=ManiacasFM I don't think this song was ever meant to be too serious, it's just a jam/party song that they took in a Halloween direction. Their thought process was "this song is gonna be a MONSTER smash hit, so for the video let's make the boys classic scary monsters". And it's a fun theme. There's kind of a narcissistic pop music flare to this song, it's all performative and is like a back and forth between them and their fans. "Am I sex-u-al?" "Yeaa-ah" "AM I EVERYTHING YOU NEED YOU BETTER ROCK YOUR BODY NOW" It's a very hype/celebratory song.
Looking back... I used to know the entire freaking dance to this video and dances it in my room like, all the time. Now I can't even do the two step due to All the pain.

I want you back came out in 96
I was 14 years old when this song was popular and it was my first concert I ever went to.
People thought they were fake. This is them reaffirming their music
It's basically a dancing and house party song. No need to make sense. It's about having fun!
Because it is awesome move
I think it’s a story of transformation as the result of being in a haunted house. Each of the guys was transformed into a different monster
I love the original video with the bridge, i don't why they cut that out.
Monster
You had to be there to understand it they did this just before releasing their second album... that's what it's about basically.
I have a request O-Town Liquid Dreams or All or Nothing.
You crack me up ...... people get mad when I over analyze... shut up 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Songs about the Backstreet Boys being here to stay
Love your reaction billy
For some reason this beat reminds me of the song "Bobby Brown - My Prerogative"
Looking back... I used to know the entire freaking dance to this video and dances it in my room like, all the time. Now I can't even do the two step due to All the pain.
