  • Murmuration refers to the phenomenon that results when hundreds, sometimes thousands, of starlings fly in swooping, intricately coordinated patterns through the sky.

I’m here because a delightful book I just finished reading about a pigeon who received inspiration from the murmuration of starlings. It’s for youth. I’m an adult and was captivated by it. It’s called Pigeonholed by Josie Lynn. Great combination of wit and wisdom.

All nature, true uninterrupted and uninhibited nature is the most precious thing that we have ever seen or heard!!! It needs and has to be protected by us all, before it is gone, never to be found again.

I don't think it will need our protection for long since we do a pretty good job ourselves at killing each other, there is no man without nature. Covid was a great example, just a few months or so without our presence and it immediately started to rejuvenate. The whole of reality is in constant balance with itself except for us, we just need to learn from nature. Not take or produce more than what we need, and then through education and media learn to behave as though we were one family. Not ruthlessly trying to dominate, exploit each other, be the richest, smartest in the room etc. but instead use our talents and unique attributes to help each other. Everything would change from there in a ripple effect

I preferred the other film without the music, as nice as it is, to be able to hear the true sound of the wings of the birds, which is absolutely amazing and beautiful.

What if a murmuration of starlings should fly over you car and all poop on it as one?

Why would you bad mouth starlings in the first place?

I truly agree, the absolute pure beauty of nature, is the most important and beautiful wonder that will never be replaced by any other means, it must be protected now and forever.

These murmurations can be deadly. In 1960 Starling murmurations caused the worst Bird strike in U. S. history. Was at Boston airport. Daniel

But Daniel, not ALL bird strikes into planes are caused by starlings! Much to the contrary. Don't forget the hundreds of other bird strikes which involved geese, eagles, cranes, migratory birds, etc., killing several hundreds of people collectively over the past several decades. The episode you mention killed 60 people, indeed a tragedy. Pilots try to look out for murmurations and other flocks of birds.

Terrible, but not the birds' fault. They could not have known they would be struck and killed, they're not suicidal, and that it would also tragically cause all the plane engines to fail. Bird strike is common, but usually large flocks can be seen and avoided. Starlings would only be a concern for takeoff and landing, but must be given a wide clearance due to their manoeuvrability.
