For My Daughter, We Will Love Each Other: Harvest Cassava & Process It For Chickens, Pigs
The morning started very peacefully, when my ex-husband enjoyed a cup of hot coffee on the porch, the gentle sunlight shining through the rows of green trees. Not long after, we took our daughter to school together, a warm and loving family moment, like any other ordinary day.
After that, we set off to the mountains to harvest cassava. The mountain road was bumpy, but the consensus between husband and wife always made everything easier. However, a small incident happened when I accidentally slipped and fell. Immediately, my ex-husband ran over, helped me up and took care of me with the same care and concern as before. That moment evoked so many emotions, like an invisible thread connecting us for our daughter and our small family.
After settling down, we continued our work, together transporting full bags of cassava down the mountain. Sweat beaded on our foreheads, but the joy and companionship in every step made all the fatigue disappear. When they got home, they both started processing cassava into feed for pigs and chickens. Everything seemed more meaningful when these jobs were for the farm, for the family, and for their beloved daughter.
