I picked pile #4 and it just resonated with me SO MUCH and it was so accurate that by the end I had tears in my eyes because I love him so much, but I also just want him to be happy. 🥺 Right now, we're just platonic friends (we were together for a year between 2018 and 2019), but it gets hard sometimes when we talk because he'll tell me he loves me and I know he's just meaning it as someone who really cares a lot about me because of how much I helped him in his situation when we were together, but when I say it to him, he always perceives it as me hoping we'll get back together, and while I do hope for that, I'm not sitting around waiting on him. Wow! I picked pile #4 and it just resonated with me SO MUCH and it was so accurate that by the end I had tears in my eyes because I love him so much, but I also just want him to be happy. 🥺 Right now, we're just platonic friends (we were together for a year between 2018 and 2019), but it gets hard sometimes when we talk because he'll tell me he loves me and I know he's just meaning it as someone who really cares a lot about me because of how much I helped him in his situation when we were together, but when I say it to him, he always perceives it as me hoping we'll get back together, and while I do hope for that, I'm not sitting around waiting on him. I just accept the situation for what it is right now and am just there to be supportive and proud of the progress he's made in the last 2 years. I just don't understand why he perceives it as me holding out hope because when he always has to remind me that we're not together and he's not trying to be, it hurts my feelings and then makes me uncomfortable to express love towards him in a platonic way. Sometimes I just don't know what to do, but I kinda journal in my Notes app and just keep adding to the note, which is written in the form of a letter to him that I don't send. A lot of times when I write my feelings in the note, it seems to manifest a call or text from him either the same day or within a few days afterwards, which I find interesting and oddly coincidental. I give all the space he needs, but I would say that we probably contact each other about the same amount, like 50/50, but yeah, I give him his space until he feels like contacting me again whenever that uncomfortable "I love you" issue comes up. I feel like I'm doing the right thing just being friends and being supportive of him, but sometimes I feel like he's wishy washy with me.
