Wow! I've seen that harbor on several other youtubes, but never saw the amazing couple that lives there. What an honor to be able to go along on the hunt, so stinkin' cool!
With Brooke and Gary at the helm, you truly get a sense of "being there", fantastic narrative, authentic experiences that dont feel staged for the camera. number 1 in my books.
Hey Brook n Gary thanks again for another awesome episode, I actually love how you get to embrace the local culture and enjoy the opportunity to live the culture also!! I am absolutely 💯 loving your south pacific adventures so far!!! Enjoy guy's and stay safe out there!!! Cheers 🍻
Hey Danny! Thank you! We were so excited to share this video. Being able to see a part of their culture not typically seen by tourists was just amazing. One of our top experiences while sailing!
@@SailingOneLife yes you guy's certainly are living the dream for all of us! Can not wait to meet you guy's in Australia when you get here!!! Stay safe guy's!!
I just found you guys on You Tube and have binged watched all the episodes from the start of this trip, yes every minute of the sea passages. I'm 64 now and when I was 26yrs old I sailed across the Sth Pacific in my own 38ft sailboat from New Zealand to USA. This has brought back so many wonderful memories of catching mahi mahi, flying fish hitting me in the head, long periods of boredom, sail changes, tiredness, visiting remote islands, gazing at the huge night sky and lots of self reflection. I am about to go full circle and purchase another sail boat after almost 40yrs of not sailing. Whether I will go offshore again I'm not sure however your videos have stirred something that has been buried away for many years. My wife doesn't get it but I think a true sailor understands the call of the sea. Thank you again.
Hi there :) thank you so much for joining us out here! Happy to hear that we have sparked the sailor in you! Wow, that is incredible that you sailed from NZ to the US! That must have been tough! Did you go up to Hawaii?
I sailed with a friend although we made it hard on ourselves, 2 days out our self steering broke so we had to take turns on watch at the helm from that point on. In those days there was no such thing as GPS so we navigated with a sextant. Ist stop Tonga, then Samoa, Fanning Island and stopped in Hawaii for 6 weeks then on to San Diego where I ended up living for a couple of years. I am going to write down my memoirs for my grandchildren and the first book will be about this adventure. Your videos are so clear and well edited. I am now going back to the beginning and watching from when you first purchased your boat. Enjoy your one life @SailingOneLife .
What fantastic personal experiences! The generosity and grace of the Marquesans is amazing. Thanks for sharing this extraordinary adventure. All the best...
February 17th! Excited to get the classes finished. Then deciding when and where to sail next! Maybe the wife and I will rent a boat and sail the bahamas for a week by ourselves. Who knows. The patreon version was indeed awesome. Have fun! @@SailingOneLife
There is no other way to learn that lifestyle/survival than by being allowed and welcomed into their world. You can study that kind of culture in books or even listen to someone from that lifestyle but you can never truly understand how they survive without being there to experience it in real time. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Hi there! Welcome :) Thanks for coming along with us on this journey! The BBQ was certainly a highlight during our time in the Marquesas. We hope you enjoy our channel! 💙
*Wow it was a beautiful thing seeing such genuine generosity and kindness. I'm curious if you left them a parting gift as well?* I’m a first time viewer of your channel and so grateful seeing this video to witness such kind souls and their wonderful way of life. 💙
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by and checking out our channel. The Marquesans are so generous and kind. This experience will always hold a special place in our hearts. We did gift then a few items, such as a waterproof spotlight, charger and per Tepua's request, chocolate!
Great one! I watch the other version but closed my eyes a couple times :-). What a shot that guy took. I know it was close but still, it was very humane. What an ass-kicking hike too. Those ridges get steep at the top. :-O.
Hey Joe! Yeah the other version is a bit intense! The dogs were incredible and Jose's shot was bang on. We aren't hunters but this experience was amazing to be a part of. It was crazy to see him hike up that ridge like a pro in the sandal style shoes he had on. The hike was tough!

Another great chapter in your book of life. What a wonderful adventure showing the amazing kinship of complete strangers. You and Gary are very lucky. Thanks for sharing the experience. That was one of the best sailing episodes I have ever seen! Life-time memories for sure. Thanks for sharing your life with us Brooke and Gary. Can't wait for the next adventure, I feel like you guys are spoiling us. Be well.
Wow what a place and the hospitality of the people of the Islands. The experience in the wild pig hunt the meals you received. I did not see any of this in the other sailing channels. You are actually the first to have shown this. That was really cute when the man patted the big pig of his on the side and the pig lay down to get rubbed. Those dogs were trained very well. And at first when I saw the man showing you the woodwork, he did make those clubs. I thought for sure he was going to try to sale you one or something. I was pleasantly surprised no as that was for his personal use. Overall great educational video thanks
Thank you, Jonathan! It was a very amazing experience. The people in the Marquesas are so kind and will share anything they possibly can. They inspire us to be better people.

Hey there! We left Mexico with six canisters so we didn't need to refill during our time in FP. But we've heard many people use the dry ice method. If your in the Marquesas, chat with Kevin from yacht services. He may be able to hook you up with dry ice.
Those families showed lots of generosity! Amazing!

Where do you get refills for your soda stream. I’ve been in the islands for 2 months and can’t find co2
Hey there! We left Mexico with six canisters so we didn't need to refill during our time in FP. But we've heard many people use the dry ice method. If your in the Marquesas, chat with Kevin from yacht services. He may be able to hook you up with dry ice.
