The thought to include Wirewood Symbiote is a testament to your deckbuilding prowess, Demo. Really unique, with a great concept and execution. This is why I love watching your videos and will continue to do so. Keep it up!
Seems super cool. I typically avoid playing commander's that are a tutor unless it's for a hidden commander type of thing just cause I find that the deck plays very similar each time. But maybe if it's more being used as a toolbox for answers it could be more fun. Less proactive and more reactive making each game feel unique
Nice was literally working on this commander in this exact way last night. I did not know about Symbiote though, very cool tech will definitely check out the list.
I like the idea of this being a deck that revolves around a non legendary creature. Something you want as a commander within Naya colors, but can’t be your commander typically. Adding a 3 mana tax on top of that seems pretty nice!
ooh! I love the deck. Rocco was the first legend I brewed with in this set (I ended up going with Toluz though). With Rocco, I ended up going with Naya weenies as there is quite a lot of support there and, well, weenies have low mana costs to tutor for. There is a lot of fun stuff there and options to just wipe away the big creatures only (Dusk // Dawn and Austere Command). Also, Cataclysmic Gearhulk would work great in yours as a boardwipe on a creature :)
Oh thats an super interesting Deck tech and i really like the cards you have mentioned and i am probably gonna try to build this one because i have many ideas for cards that could go in the deck :D
Interesting deck idea. Does anyone else feel this deck would suffer from of a lot of "sameness" across different games? Personally, a reason I love EDH as a format is the level of inconsistency and differentiation of gameplay. For me it is what separates formats like Modern from Commander. Anyone else feel the same? Am I missing a key piece of the puzzle?
I feel like if you're tutoring in a combo deck you're going to have that sameness. In a toolbox-y deck where you're always looking for answers I think the variety might still be there
Nope, you're right. There's gonna be like 4 or 5 creatures you'll always want in play and you'll always try to grab them first. And tbh it's gonna have that problem extra if you have good mana. But, bouncing it is a real struggle so I feel like this strategy won't be online early enough
I imagine this commander will get repetitive if played optimally. I plan on making a deck where I randomly select a bunch of creatures out of a pool of cards and shuffle them in and out between games just to spice things up.
That wirewood symbiote pairing seems like such a smart idea , I don't think I would have come up with it on my own and it makes me want to build around that deck idea. Thank you.
Super interesting as usual, I wonder if you could go the white creatures that bounce like kor skyfisher with the cost reducers in a kinda janky storm way finishing in a tutored payoff
Best thing for Rocco is one can try some crazy things like a noncreature/non-Human focus build. Nikya of the Old Ways, Gaddock Teeg, Grumgully, the Generous,
wish there is a commander card like Rocco that fits for Orcus, Prince of Undeath so when the commander comes out it brings out Orcus and orcus effect can bring out another creature from library. so basicly +2 for 1 card
This deck is seriously missing out on Cloudstone curio. Every time Rocco comes into play you can bounce him into your hand again. Really good tech there. Also, what would a wincon for this deck be? seems like the general plan is to just slow the game down a ton without capitalizing off that
are they a cast trigger tho? because it says "when rocco enters the battlefield, if you cast it, search.." correct me if i'm wrong, but i think that means casting is a requirement of the ability to happen, meaning you can't blink rocco, and the enters the battlefield part is the actual trigger. if it were worded as a cast trigger, it would just say "when you cast rocco, search.." a lil confused over here so any clarification would be helpful :D
the trigger is on entering the battlefield. so rocco hits the table before the creature he gets. the etb trigger is conditional though, so when he hits the table the condition is checked. if he wasn't cast nothing happens.
@@mynt4033 well as i explain in the video dromoka is just an enabler to help me do what i want on my turn without interference. i have plenty of tutors in the deck, also don't need painter, urborg works just as good as a wincon.
I actually hate this commander because you have to know that if you put a tutor in the command zone that the deck is just going to be every possible 2 card combo.
a big recommendation is Flamekin Herald, giving your commander cascade would be insane value

@@caden8592 id have to agree. I guess having a toolbox commander, as this one is, isnt necessarily the same as searching for combos

Thinking of making a modular deck with him

Old rhino people coming in. That fits in.
Im thinking about elf tribal but with good removal and utilities
Might end up nya good stuff lol
Defense of the heart could be good to cheat in some more expensive creatures.
Tanuki Transplanter is another Reconfigure creature option and Runic Armasaur would be a searchable draw engine.

How did I miss this video? Been slow brewing this guy lately and was wondering why Demo had nothing on him? Wrong I was, watching vid I shalll
Finally, Realm Razer became legendary

the creature should enter the battlefield with 2 food tokens
i'm actually shocked they didn't use food here. should've entered with X food tokens. and then "sacrifice X foods: search for a creature" etc.
@@edhdeckbuilding yeah

It's not budget at all nowadays, but a Cloudstone Curio would be really nice. You can bounce Rocco when the tutored creature hits the battlefield.
Could i do a equipment deck with rocco
The lack of Yeva, Nature's Herald in this decklist is kinda sus.
what do you do if they kill your Symbiote
e-witness. i also put riftsweeper in there. and temur sabertooth, and sanctum of eternity.

What are you doing with Painter's Servant in Dromoka?

Just play godo helm of host but now in naya!
Don't forget Mirror Entity+Wirewood combo 👀
