Needs to be on TV. Imagine Chris with a big budget touring the UK targeting different species and using different techniques. Im 40 but my 12 year old is also a big fan.
His presentation skills are superb, his fish care for the most is top notch and this isn't the 1st time he's talked about rubish and clearing up. I think he should be on TV. Take one of the 1001 toxic shows off TV and give him the budget. Fishing doesn't do well on TV. Monster Carp and Paul n Bob say other wise. I'm 46 and my Dad is 85. We are huge fans too. From 12 to 85, That's not a bad range. lol He's got that John Wilson vibe about him. That is a huge compliment.
2 great guy on you tube Chris aka gingerfisherman For sea John Fish Locker awsome guys should deffo be on main stream TV. Teach alot of good 😊 Just my opinion 😊 Am sure there other great u tubers . 👍🏴😁✌️😊
Thank you for cleaning up someone's mess Chris. Can't get my head around why a person would litter like that. I'm 67 & have been fishing since I was 12 and can honestly say that I have never, EVER left anything behind except my footprints - it's not hard. Congratulations on the lure caught Barbel.
I pack up and after loading the trolley up. I always go back to see if I have left any gear or litter. It's a joke these people call themselves anglers when the truth is, they are yobs who don't care. I have boycotted 2 places due to constant ripped lipped carp and rubish around the pegs. Truth is that my gen (I'm 46) became parents and for the most. Didn't want to be teachers to their kids because it messed with parents social media time. "Go out or go a play in your room, as long as you're out of our way." was the level of parenting the kids got. They are the ones now on our banks . More than a few timesI have had 20 yr olds confronting me or telling me to F off because I've told them to clean up their mess.
I am a fishery officer and there is a guy who chucks his body waste in a drum that isn't even a rubbish bin, also uses tins etc which are banned on the waters. They think it's my job to clear it up but definitely not.....I am most likely going to ban them from the fishery. 3:41
What a legend , he just collect the trash and not insulting that nasty sonofab**** who drop his junk . And thats Why this is by far the best relaxing fishing Channel on TH-cam .
How can we get this guy on TV? His presentation skills are excellent and he is such a great teacher to other anglers and the up and coming new people to fishing. I bet they can take out one of their toxic shows to put a gem like this guy on TV. Fishing shows don't do well on TV ?? Monster Carp and Paul n Bob say otherwise.
You no what Chris I've never left rubbish but neither have I ever picked up someone's rubbish but after this I'm going to take a bag and put some rubbish in and do my bit. Just because of you
That trash situation is very common here in the USA as well. I've seen public fishing areas with trash just 10 feet away from a trash can. It didn't blow out from the wind either. Not bottles! There was one place I fished where, for a time, I carried a trash bag with me. That pond has deteriorated as a fishery so I don't go there to often anymore. Saw a discarded drink cup there a week ago. Congrats on that Barble. That had to be an epic feeling!
I'm a new subscriber and because of your videos I've recently started fishing the 1" nymph and I've had so much fun from catching pan fish to large amd smallmouth bass. Thank you for all the great content I really enjoy it 😎
Great session Chris. 👍 Multi species lure fishing heaven. And I've always read about Barbel having predatory instincts in the UK but that's one of the first I've ever seen caught... And a great fish too. 🙂 Good on you cleaning up someone else's rubbish too. People should learn to take their crap home.
Once again some of your finest angling wow what a unexpected fish to catch on the paddle tail … really showing your true colours being a good person and cleaning up after others we need more people like u Chris keep up the absolute cracking fishing content … PS looking forward to see them baby warrior river carp grow into some cracking specimens
Well done mate. Steward of delicate spaces and a good example for us all. No name calling, we’re all human. Just do your bit and look after the space around you. A reminder to us all to do better and look after the beautiful places we wet our lines. Cheers Chris.
Superb Barbel and amazing catch on a lure. You do deserve a tv channel. I was taught from a very early age never leave any rubbish and it stuck with me for life. Once asked a group fishing at Colwick Park in Notts if they would pick up the rubbish they were leaving as they packed up and got lots of verbal and threats....funny thing two of my mates who are very big mean looking bikers pulled up at the same time to see how I was doing......the idiots who had been verbal only seconds before then meekly very quickly picked up their rubbish and left..... to see their expressions as they did was priceless. I loathe tossers who leave rubbish
Great to se someone else takeing care of our nature. Always bring a bag sad you have to clear other people mess but i cant leave it if everyone picked even 1 peice our nature would look so much nicer. Great catch on the Barbel and keep up the nice vids 😊
Nice catch! We directly fish for barbel with small soft baits like keitech easy shiner 2,5 inch. Not regular jigging more like rolling it on the bottom. Fast river sections are usually better.
Great session as always. Your excitement of catching is as epic as the landing . Maybe an idea for the future. Would a section of an elastic band cut at different lengths work as well as a shop bought lure .
Well done Chris, never heard of anyone catching Barble on a lure before. At least it was only bottles, cans and packaging you collect, I've removed drug taking paraphernalia before today and stupid single use barbeque trays.
You caught a Barbel while targeting predators, when Barbel fishing a few years ago I was targeting Barbel and baiting up my swim. I had a bare size 10 hook on, on the fourth retrieval I 'snagged' what I thought was thick weed, till it started moving against the flow! Then I saw a Pike....I thought 'he's gonna be pissed, I've just foul hooked an angry Pike!'......it wasn't, hooked perfectly in the left scissor! Mental!!😂
Nice video once again. Some years ago I was fishing a commercial and the owner had placed a bucket on each peg for their rubbish. I guy across from me had a drink from a can and then threw it into the bushes. It was easier to put it into the bucket! The mentality of some is beyond me.
I have had a few take the flying c and Mepps while I've been spinning for salmon Chris, its a strange fight for the first few seconds.... nice vid as usual mate👍👍👍
I can remember a few articles in various magazines about targeting Barbel with minnows for bait, lots of fish can become predatory at times I've heard of carp taking soft lures and picking up deadbaits intended for pike. What an excellent way to catch a barbel, I've only ever caught them on bait like maggots and meat.
I would love to see Chris tackle the river Medway. The river used to be so active, but it’s proven difficult the last 5 years, but some huge pike/perch in there.
I've been loving paddle tail minnows at the moment. Congratulations on the barbel, cracking on the lure. I've been planning on trying to get my first on the lure soon
I also spend part of my fishing outings cleaning up other people’s mess. You may deal with a farmer that grows crops or has animals grazing the banks (like sheep or cattle). Imagine what would happen if they ate the rubbish or hooks on line … no doubt with any thrash it will always be the anglers to be blamed in my experience … Chris is right: other people do this as well but people are quick to judge. I always inform our local Nature Agencies … good one on you Chris, well done mate!
nice congrats man, awesome catch. Barbel on lures are very rare. But it happens :) The funny thing is, i caught my first barbel on a lure as well a month ago while zander fishing and it was 72cm as well XD
hi I come from France ,thanks for the video! for me also the barbel is very difficult to capture with lures... it is very technical it can only be caught on a lure moving in the current of the river at the bottom...
ive caught some nice fish last week and the week before.. this week its too hot though.. might give surface carping a go.. but its no use going for predators now.. Ive had my pb perch last week aswell.. it was following my lure for over 2 minutes just looking at it.. then i dropped it about 10 meters.. it followed all the way down and then finally it bit.. 47cm! verry happy with that since there isnt many of those size around here. ALso nice of u cleaning up.. a piece of metal can kill a cow.. if its eaten.. thats why farmers get really upset about trash in/around their fields.
Had a nice bream on a small white soft plastic, a big shock, it fought way better than on bait too, was sure if was a pike until i saw it, took it down as well
There are lots of fishing videos on youtube, this being one of the best in my opinion. I think its time though that somebody started making 'Monons who drop litter while fishing' videos.
My first lure-caught fish was actually a barbel and a really pretty one too, 70 cm! I couldn't believe my eyes, it hit a wobbler as it landed on the water surface. Congrats!
Not at all. And that's no disrespect to chris, I watch all his videos and like the guy but you can't call him the best fisherman on TH-cam, he fishes the same stretch and venues weekly. I know my local waters like the back of my hand and where and what I'll catch too. Put him in more adverse conditions and different locations across the country and then decide.
By a long way, uk fisherman do it best ! I like carls channel he has more followers but ginger is straight to point and more common spoken and it’s easier to stay engaged and respect a man more who keeps it “reel”
I saw you using fishing snaps in your videos. Not sure if you have looked into it but there is a product called a TA clip. It looks more like a paper clip and once you get used to them I find them to be a bit simpler to use. Not sure if they make them below 25lb but look into it. I am a big fan of these over the old fashioned clips. They are a bit more solidly built and just makes me a bit more confident when fighting a larger fish on any tackle.
Where I'm from in France, the barbels are everywhere. Makes it fairly hard to fish wild fario trouts outside of very strong currents as both the smaller Mediterranean barbel and its bigger cousin occupy most of the more quiet areas (from the french eastern Pyrenees to the Tarn canyons).
A well fished soft plastic will surprise anyone who doesn't use them often. If you're new, two tips. One, watch some videos on how to tie your leader to have it swim properly. Two. Pause on your retrieves. Use the rod tip and bump the lure up off the bottom and pause to let it sink. Be ready to set that hook though. Bonus tip, match the hatch. If you know what species of fry and baitfish are in the creek or river, use a soft plastic that mimics them like fly fishermen do.
Hy man. Love the content. I like fishing for chub on rivers with surface lures. The lures that im going to use are : duo realis shinmushi 4 cm 5.6 grams, salmo lil'bug 3 cm - 4.3gr and and also i am going to use poppers ranging from 3 to a maximum of 5 cm. I have a shimano nasci c2000s reel. Could recommend 3-5 rods for this kind of fishing for the price of up to 100 euros. Thanks.
I've never caught a barbel on a lure, but I did catch one on a livebait minnow once. Fishing the river lea for perch in a place where pike are pretty rare and float fishing mid water I got a bite, struck into it and it rocketed off. I thought it was a pike and was worried it was going to bite through my line. After about a ten minutes fight, it ended up being a 6lb barbel. I was gob smacked. My mate also had the same thing happen to him, same place, but it was a mirror carp. I guess fish aren't really as picky as we think they are.
He's really good I like his videos. There's one But. He only fishes his local river which is really clean and quite shallow that's why he can see the fish. Also the canal he fishes also seems to be gin clear again that seems why he can see the fish. I would love to see him fish other venues that are not so clear and see how he gets on. But yes the videos are great. Wish I had rivers and a canal near me that are so clear
Excellent channel been watching for a long while now .. good ol John Wilson vibes thanks for sharing these adventures I did a few carp vids. king carp diaries.. have u tried your hand at carving swim baits ? I have made a few very theroputic .. vid idea u should carve a swim bait from a scratch lump of wood and go catch a pike. 👌 good vibes dude love the vids 👍🏻
When we went to Ireland some years ago, a French guy was also there and told us how he caught lots of barbel on tiny Rapala crankbaits jigged along the bottom.
It’s very rare anglers leave rubbish, unless they are pot heads who fish out of season, and usually hikers and dog walkers who throw dog sh1t bags into bushes and so on.
I caught 6 bream with a 3g spinner on ultralight gear, catching perch flat out on texas rig with a 1.5g weight & 3 inch floating crayfish. Wading amongst billions of fry, awesome sport this time of year! Fish almost every cast, that "one last cast" can lead to an extra hour!

The only stuff I've ever left behind, is if I break off in a snag, and can't recover what I've lost safely.
yep same here in my 15 years of fishing iv never left anything behind i dont get it, ruins how pretty a place is to fish!
I pack up and after loading the trolley up. I always go back to see if I have left any gear or litter.

Love the Chubb catch. Barbel was good too.

Lovely barbel. I live in the Mediterranean. We catch loads of barbel on lures here.
When we were kids back on the river kennet we used to use minnows as bait we caught plenty of barbel.
Hah, I never caught a barbel with anything BUT lures 😁 It’s great catch, congrats!!🥳
While fishing a local lake my mate caught a common of about 10lbs on 5 inch segmented rubber lure of a roach.
A well fished soft plastic will surprise anyone who doesn't use them often. If you're new, two tips.
One, watch some videos on how to tie your leader to have it swim properly.
