I love that there's a number of indie horror devs who are like "well, we don't have enough time and people to make a traditional scary monster horror game. So, instead, we're going to make the most tense, suspenseful horror game you've ever played. Barely anything will happen but the mere thought of something happening is going to terrify you." That is also what makes jumpscares effective. It's not the jumpscare itself. It's the suspense of anticipating the jumpscare. You know it will come, and the longer it takes, the more unnerving it gets. And every almost jumpscare, every fake jumpscare makes it much more painful. And these suspense based horrors do exactly that, without ever having a jumpscare. They keep building up,but never give you the release.

I appreciate that the little air freshener hang tag is "Red Bag" scent. I work in a hospital path lab, and biohazardous waste (read: bits of people) are disposed of in red bags. They're double-wrapped and thoroughly sealed, so it's not TOO bad, but closing one of them up for disposal? God in heaven, the _stench._ It's not even completely the smell of death, there's the smell of disease and also the smell of formalin all mixed in. Takes a strong stomach (and a truly dark sense of humor) to work in a medical lab.
Honestly I was in the mood for something cozy but with a little creepy and this fit the bill perfectly. I find empty streets with those yellow sodium vapor streetlights very comforting because I used to go out and shoot photos of/during that time.
