Finally a channel that actually uses knives in potential real world scenarios instead of just flipping it and cutting pieces of paper. Hopefully you continue this with more knives this is f n great!
Yeah, i mean, there's for example Nick Shabazz, they guy himself says he is an Office drone, and he trashes cheap and cheap looking knives for not doong or not having the features of his 500 dollars Pocket knife when he is testing a 50 dollars one for free
Kinda bothers me, such a well done video with good back and forth commentary, pleasant lighting, good camera cuts, and easy to watch, doesn’t have more subs. Great job guys, please keep going
@@bananaclip8989 mine has really been holding up. I am surprised by the quality. The only down side maybe is that it’s not as corrosion resistant. I would not use mine if I were on a boat in the gulf coast where I live. This is just a everyday take to work knife for me.
Really like the torture test. Usually I can't even find a review that does anything more than a first reaction and simple cutting+opening. Nobody just cuts paper with a knife we use them rough everyday tasks. I wish more people would torture test knives
This has been my work beater for a year, exact same model. I use it every day to break down cardboard and cut thick plastic straps. Has never let me down, bounces back with a quick strop, micarta cleans up with some alcohol or windex. Such a great knife.
I love micarta as a scale material. Basically as durable as g10 and it keeps (if not increases) how grippy it is when wet because of the natural materials in it. The feel on micarta does vary a bit just depending on how it's done. I have some scales that were done with a lower grit finish and you can feel the threads and it gives the knife a much more natural, warmer feel than g10. Btw the couple of civivi's I've bought have all had pretty early lockup. That's going to give the knife more longevity since the liner has more of the blade material to push through, but it's also going to be a bit less of a secure lock until it wears in a little bit, so it's a tradeoff. With a sub 3" knife like this I def. prefer it since I'm not going to be batoning with something this small.
I really appreciate the cutting test. unlike most other youtuber who reviews knives by filming their face from start to finish without even bother cutting anything with it.
Nice video boys ! Just wanted to say civivi makes this knife in a full tang version, and it's a little bit bigger would love to see a stress test on that knife, it is in the 80-90$ dollor price range tho . But love the work first time watching one of your guys videos and you got a sub from me.! Love the content keep up the work !
Hey thank you Ralph we appreciate it! we have not jumped into fixed blades yet. Our thoughts are if we do fixed, the torture has to be more intense. We will get there eventually!
What a great test! You just confirmed that this little guy will get the job done. Now i can't wait even more for mine to arrive. P. S. The content you create is really top notch. The channel definitely deserves more views. Greetings from Poland :)
Now this is how proper knife tests should be done. Do MOST people use their EDC's only for opening cardboard? Probably. But for those who might need it to go the extra mile, tests like this are good to know which knives will work in a pinch. Loved the video Excellent knife from what I saw. Subbed.
Great review guys and nice editing, the multi-camera angles keep things visually interesting. Some constructive criticism, you need to white balance each of your cameras individually after you've set them all up and have all your lighting on. Everything is a bit too "warm". White balancing will give everything a more natural look and keep each camera consistent with respect to color. If you're using the same camera/lighting setup each time you record you'll only need to do it once. Keep up the great work.
@@NewAgeTactical You guys have a real channel, it's not a BS paid-for channel, so I'm happy to help. If you need any help with how to properly white-balance hit me up, but honestly, you can find plenty of tutorials on TH-cam without my help.
the micarta gets tacky when wet. wont lose your grip is wet conditions. will absorb stinky stuff. for cleaning fish use a knife with g10 scales or what you guys call the handle. thanks for showing what the elementum can withstand in extreme circumstances. you guys crack me up.
Great video, haven't got the elementum yet but I am intrigued now. I must say that the Vexer is the best civivi I have seen and I think it would be a great prospect for a video.
Think this is the only TH-cam channel that deals with knife testing. Great chatting between you guys, no BS. But I would recommend for future some slightly more scientific and/or methodic tests, something you can quantify. Anyway, great video, it give me confidence to purchase that knife.
I just received my CIVIVI ELEMENTUM in the Black color today Friday 3/11/22 from Amazon. It has the D2 blade and I love it. I paid $50.15 for it and in my opinion it's worth every penny.
I was really wondering how well this knife would do under your tests and it did as well as I thought. Civivi makes a damn nice knife and agreed, if you need a hardcore camp knife, this isn't it. But you need an all around EDC knife. Hard to beat. Maybe an NAT EDC Stamp? Awesome review!
So which is better between the 2 civivis? Looks great and seems to work pretty well. 53 is a little higher for me but if its worth it then its worth it
@@NewAgeTactical cool man I'm trying to do as much research as I can to determine which locking system is the strongest of course keeping the trilock that cold still has out of the picture since that is hands down the strongest. I'm thinking the frame locks are the strongest out of the liner locks, spring back locks and push button locks but I'm not really sure LOL. I would assume that the liner locks are the weakest.
Nice video very entertaining, but for just $125 you can buy a CIVIVI Savant in Damascus which is an absolute bargain with the blade having a 59-61HRC. Next time you do the sheet paper test, put a blade _against the paper's grain_ If the paper cuts that way, it's totally razor sharp. Btw have you considered reviewing any Victorinox SAKs? Any are worth a look. Best, Wendi
Oh man that is a tough question! The Buck 110 Stands out mainly due to still looking like it came out of the box after all the abuse. Honorable mentions off the top of my head would be ESEE Zancudo, Camillus Horizon and Kershaw Skyline.
@@Visiblyblue hahaha I literally had the RAT II typed out in the original message but I didn't want to put too many. The RAT will always be a favorite. It was the first knife to really shock us and that was when we abused the blades a little too much

Thanks Nicola! its not that we don't like Victorinox, we just want to have proper testing for all of the tools. We've had your recommendation on our list for awhile, we didn't forget about you! and that T4 does looks nice
It's only as low as 50 dollars though! There are more expensive bigger branded options that fail before this so I'd give it a huge pass. I love mine and have bought other models because they are just awesome!
Great review albeit a tad misleading. But yes You're right this is an excellent urban EDC knife for price, build and pocket. Plus it looks sexy. I have been carrying the Olive Micarta for two months now. Before that was a Spydie Sage 3 LW. The Elementum took its place and hasnt given it back yet. The Sage LW is great but harder on the pocket.
@@NewAgeTactical I think the /review makes it look like its more about the knife's torture score. But that's just me. Glad you still like yours. I just ordered my second one:)
@@NewAgeTactical Cool. I just ordered another Elementum.. the G10/Carbon Damascus. They're bloody expensive in Canada, but far cheaper in the States. Unfortunately they're illegal to import to Canada because of the flipper so I have to settle on Canadian retailers.
We have been looking to do a redemption video for Spyderco since we changed the torture test. The Delica 4 would be the perfect choice! Added to the list!
I guess you are paying for the micarta. Sucks that it didn't get the stamp for 53 dollars. But it didn't break either, I would call that a win. Nice Video!
This is funny, wastes 15minutes by talking. Joe X is where its at. That knife is a child's toy, try whacking it on a table with the broad end of the blade. You will find yourself without a finger. I own a conspirator and its a disapointment for the price, a pretty letter opener and a dangerous fidget spinner at best.
I looked up Joe X. I think youre looking for more of his "destruction test." Thats why we went with "torture test." We're not trying to break the knife. We want to be able to compare the limitations afterwards, not force it to break.
