    The great Woody Allen, learned so much studying Woody. It
    was a film school unto itself. In 100 years Woody'll be considered
    Picasso. That is If he isn't considered Picasso ALREADY. Thanks
    Woodman - help me learn how to write.

    It's weird - not necessarily to see Woody Allen old. But to see this 80 year old befuddled facing a sheer wall of digital phones and cameras. This is a man ,who grew up without television and whose lifelong models are the likes of Groucho Marx, SJ Perelman and Louis Armstrong - men from another world.

    I love Woody Allen at least as much, if not more so, than anyone else. That being said, I'm sure even he has to know on some level that so-called "free will", it not completely an illusion, is far from being so black-and-white. One experiencing significant (or even subtle) cognitive impairment of any kind doesn't have the same "choice" as someone fortunate enough not to suffer in a similar manner. From an existential standpoint, maybe subjective meaning is enough for some people, but I don't know that most people are able to "choose" their life to have meaning. Ultimately, if there's no higher power or objective purpose to existence, it's all just a hollow façade pretending like subjectivism is somehow satisfying.

      Armando Betancourt There is a book, "Illusion vs. Reality," that I think lays it all out. It consists of talks by Shri Ranjit Maharaj.

    • @zeltzamer4010
      @zeltzamer4010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Disagree. If there were one set higher purpose, it may be comforting for a while but it’d get pretty boring soon enough. The fact that no one is born with any inherent purpose is terrifying but it’s the only way for human beings to have any actual freedom in finding their own meaning in life. It’s not equally easy all around, of course, but it also means that someone born less fortunate can still have just as meaningful a life as someone who wasn’t. I guess the solution would be to ‘trick’ yourself, at least at first, into believing the most fulfilling thing for you is the objective goal in life; an artist might see art as the only true way of enduring the world, whereas as a scientist could think their field is the objective point of view. Those are two different choices in life, but lots of people get by on them.

      A fool believes in a book written by unknown authors and unknown dates made from supposed copies of supposed originals that have all been lost, from people that thought the earth was flat and for whom a wheelbarrow would have been a giant leap in technology. A book whose included chapters were decided upon by the votes of men. A book that says one shall put to death, gays, witches, those who work on the sabbath, those who introduce you to other Gods, etc. etc. etc.

    Its great that despite all his PR problems, Woody still had time to attend the small, intimate "welcome home from prison" dinner-party @ Jeffrey Epstein's house after Epstein's release from his first prison sentence. He never let Epstein's conviction for trafficking young girls bother him! What a guy!

    • @teodelfuego
      @teodelfuego 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You smug self-righteous ass. There are hundreds of good, honest people who came into contact with Epstein who was eager to throw his wealth at all kinds of projects, many of them laudable.
