I think DI could have been a stellar free to play game. It has enjoyable combat with diverse build options, a decent story with gorgeous biomes whilst maintaining a diversity in enemy design. It checks all the boxes for what would be an enjoyable and fulfilling free to play experience, until you get to the gems which is where the game falls on its face and lets down everything else. It’s honestly one of the most ridiculous systems I’ve seen. Not only are legendary crests hard to come by as there’s no reliable way to farm them, but since the drop rates for higher tier gems is so incredibly low it makes it virtually impossible to acquire and upgrade those gems. So not only do you have an abysmal drop rate, but also the sheer number of gem power needed to upgrade these gems is grotesque. Even if you do get your hands on a crest, you can bet you’ll be seeing 1 and 2 star gems. The reason this is so problematic as in addition to the high cost of upgrading you also need a copy of that same gem to further upgrade and since the odds of getting a high tier gem is so low unless you’re spending ungodly amounts of money you better kiss any hope of upgrading those gems goodbye, this is not fair free to play. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the gems didn’t tie into a key system within the game, that being resonance. It would’ve have made sense if these gems were optional and affected little except providing you powerful bonuses through their special effects, which would have in turn made the monetisation more sensible as it wasn’t necessary for players to acquire and upgrade them. What further shows what a bad system this is, is the sheer cost of the legendary crests. A full run of crests will set you back $20 netting you 10. With the extremely low drop rates I mentioned earlier this is essentially a loot box you open yourself through a rift. $5 would’ve been a much more sound price as it would be fairer given the low drop rates. What makes matters worse is you cannot sell any gems you get from legendary crests in the market as the only gems you can sell are the ones from paid crests. I know I’ve rattled on but I really like this game and wish it was more fairer with its monetisation. I’m happy to spend money when I feel the devs have produced a quality product that I want to support. However, everything from the crests to the battle pass, the cosmetics to the boon of plenty and all the ways in which you unlock your prodigy’s path is just downright predatory and it’s more like an illusion. The game from the off presents itself as a quality free to play game, however stick with it long enough and you see just how diabolically greedy they are jamming payment opportunities into practically everything. Before I go, don’t forget to buy your collectors edition seasonal skin! Though you’ve spent the price of a AAA game you can expect the cosmetic effects therein to disappear after 30 days! You pay them for what amounts to the duration of a free app trial. You can’t make this stuff up 🤦🏻
Echo, if you use the gem power from the resonant gems, but then take out the resonant gems, the main one becomes doormant. You need to add resonant gems with gem power equal to the ones you took out. Also, the progressive upgrade is now available for level 4 gems.
Some evil truth in math: Even if you make all your 2/5 star gems to level 4 (total 280reso x 8gems = 2240 , awaken them and put additional gems to boost their resonance to like +40reso for each 2/5*star (total of 320 bonus reso) it STILL gives your character ONLY 2560 resonance in total. After ONE YEAR of constant playing (rolling gems from "free" legendary and eternal legendary crests, farming and selling huge amounts of pets, runes,terror essences each week for platinium) i was able to get 8x 2*star gems at lvl7 with additional 30 bonus resonance for each gem which gave me total of 1920 resonance as dedicated F2P. After this 'wonderful change' you will STILL get ONE SHOTTED from 8k+ reso whales on shadow wars and such. So i don't see how this will help f2p or low spenders 'catch up' to anything. It will only encourage whale guild leaders to force f2p/low spenders to have 5 star gems awakend because its 'way easier now so no excuses!'. In this game there is never catching up to cows that were milked for 100k$ on resonance and we all know this from start... also you cąn do pve content with literally 0 resonance and you will still manage...
I got the emoji on my first draw. I like the new gem system. I was lucky enough to get some 4 out of 5 star legendary gems, echoing shade and zwensons. So I will be grinding those up to level 5. I still want the magic buff level 5 gems give. I think it makes a difference. I like that I can slot in any gems to get more resonance. That was a pleasant surprise. Good things are happening in the game right now. It is so much easier to progress my account than launch. I hope they keep up the good work. I think it would be cool if they had the WOW Paladin Judgment set as a cosmetic. That is something I would buy. Best Teir 2 set of all time.
I'm f2p and my first phantom market prize I got from the first free draw some months ago was prophet progeny portal and I've been using it till this day
hey, if you didnt start the gem progressive upgrade already, instead of the gem becoming dormant, they will just let you remove the whole primary gem and the socket gems will just be put in your bag in case you wanna resocket a gem into another gem instead
@sgoodman72 let's say you have a gem that has not been progressive upgrade yet( any lv under rank 4)2-5/5, you can still remove the whole gem out of your gear without it becoming dormant. If you start the progressive gem process, during the process, if you have gems socket into that gem, you have to keep those gems socket into that gem. If you remove just one of those gems, the 5star gem becomes dormant until you put those gems back into the 5star gem . Hope this helps clarify.
For me the progressive update tab doesnt show up for some reason. I have awaken slot and the requiered gems put in the primary gem upgraded to level 5 but the progressive tab doesnt show up

Your main gem itself has to be i think Rank 5 to begin the progressive upgrade process.
