    Love it how Rener always says his is more "grandmasterish", every time! They're both absolutely awesome IMO.

    I have watched hundreds and hundreds of instructionals from every group and the Gracie combative course and these two instructors is the BEST by far. They have made me believers in Gracie Jujistu.

    I love the ending where Rener says, "...hopefully mine wins" and just rolls away and Reyron says, "That wasn't sick...that wasn't sick." Hahaha. Oh, man, I love you guys. You guys are hilarious.

    They're both good! If I was losing control I'd use Rener's. But If I was confident with my position, I'd do Ryron's technique. They're both sick! Thanks for sharing.

    I've seen other players switch arms before which is really cool,but that's the first time I've seen it slowly explained.very valuable info about the foot position when switching.The brotherly rivality is definitely hilarious and entertaining.I see how they became so good at it.

  • @RomeoBarnes
    @RomeoBarnes 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Petriealright In theory that works. However, when you lift the leg off/over your head you no longer have control of it and as we know in BJJ control is EVERYTHING. Any decent blue belt will simply switch their hips thus eliminate the angle you need come straight in(180 degrees) and therefore giving them the angle to lift their leg around your arm to the back of your neck as you come up. You have to understand the armbar arm is not the arm in the triangle it's the other arm that's in the choke

    You guys are simply awesome. Will be mastering both, Thank you for posting.

  • @RomeoBarnes
    @RomeoBarnes 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Petriealright you'd walk right into a triangle. It's best to get a Rear Naked Choke grip with your arm underneath the back of the knee.(They had it on top in the video that solidifies your grip but as you saw that walks you into the belly down armbar which is REALLY BAD) and just come up. There's really no way to stop the switch armlock (Ryron's technique) if they switch you are going to be tapping.
    hope that helps.

    I like them both! But! I watched this a few years ago and I’ve been using Ryron’s move ever since - and honestly.... forgot about Rener’s move. lol. Need more training partners!

  • @sadikavad1287
    @sadikavad1287 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Both you guy's are super cool, I although ryrons is a little more risky to do but it will still work 9/10. Reners sneaky armbar would doesn't require you to switch positions. So basically reners armbar is making a situation from bad to even worse for the guy while ryrons armbar just readjusting the position.

  • @BrettsterG

  • @FranciscoHernandez-nt8lp

    I am new and Ill take what I can both seem effective, but I fine visually the double arm lock smoother and easier and less complicated but it is necessary to know them all if you want to be the like best.

  • @44apw44
    @44apw44 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I cant believe anyone would critique these guys. Try walking into their academy and tell them its low precentage. I use these techniques in my daily warm up drills and use them often while sparring with great success. Just drill it!!!

  • @77jiujitsu

    @1lostinspace I dont find these low percentage at all tbh teh first move I use constantly have done for years still works great.

  • @antonioconvertino9112
    @antonioconvertino9112 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    in my opinion Rener 's technique is probably more effective in real fight...but of you have good agility Ryron's technique work as well too

    • @austinkeho5937
      @austinkeho5937 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Antonio Convertino I feel they both provide very useful and creative techniques. As well as the ground-breaking principles and philosophies they teach

  • @RomeoBarnes
    @RomeoBarnes 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    I knew there was a belly down variation from there I've just never seen it. Seen the switch many times. I like that both are instant taps. For me Ryron wins though Rener's technique is amazing but since guys at my gym dont defend with the arm on top there's no I'd hit the belly-down(though i can't physically do either of these moves anyway i wouldn't be able to hit the belly down if i could.) So Ryron wins. Awesome video guys.

    @1lostinspace They were kids when I was there too but they seem to have grown up into some damn fine instructors. What do either of these techniques have to do with "going to your back"??? When were you at the academy? Maybe I know you.

  • @Gymrat2006
    @Gymrat2006 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ 1lostinspace Yeah I agree bout the fact there are other ways to retrive the arm. But that dosent make this move low percentage. As for taking the weight off there is a sure fire way to prevent the escape when u make the hip transition its a little something Royler does with this move. Not sure if Im getting the grip break your describing do u have a vid link? sounds good id like to see. Bicep lock it top move shame its illegal in comp : (

    "Mine is more grandmaster ish"-Rener, WORD!lol. I like Rener's because I never seen an armlock transition like that. Ryron's is more common, and looks sick as well. BUt yeah I vote for Rener's!

  • @AndrewOwenWaldo
    @AndrewOwenWaldo 15 ปีที่แล้ว

    On the first technique, if he puts his free hand behind your knee instead of in front of it, is it very likely to work if you try to fight his hand out and then complete the technique?

    it shouldn't really require weightlifting, it should be drilled as much as possible. what the power really comes from is once you glue his wrist to your chest, pinch your knees together and extend your hips. hips/legs vs 1 arm..
