    Very comprehensive video. One thing I missed was the axel shafts are different lengths and it would matter which way you would put the bolts through the diff. gear set so the bolt heads would be on the gear side of the differential. Just though I'd mention that. It would be frustrating if you got the gear set together and have to take it back apart because the bolts are rubbing on the gear, or the wrong length axel was on the wrong side of the case when you went to put back in the tractor.

    i leave the shift rods in the housing that way u dont haft to fight the balls and spring drive out roll pins in forks i have done it your way but its just easyer drivin pins back in good job on your work

      Hello, sounds like one of the detent balls came out... you may have to pull the fork shaft out, drill out the press plug in the case and reinstall everything like I did... suckie job but may not be avoided, thank you!

    Great video, thanks for all the detailed information. Makes me think I can do mine too and remove that endplay in the axles. Incidentally why didn't you use a gasket in the joint between the two halves of the transmission case ? I'd probably do the same but only because they are harder to find here in the UK.

      Hello, I have always found that with each case half clean and free from oil, gasket sealer works just fine.

    Would you be able to give the part number for the axle seal. I've got a 1055 wheel horse with the 1 inch axle. The seal is just a little sliver of a seal and can not find them. Thanks so much.

    I’ve got a 4speed unidrive 2988185,it’s in bad shape with corrosion.How does the transmission with no hi/lot differ from one that does with the mechanics of where the forks go?My forks are rusted,pitted and stuck.Would you happen to know the part number of the forks for a 4speed?i haven’t got it broke down all the way and don’t know if I can reuse them.Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am as green as a gourd when it comes to this,thanks

    Wonderin how u install oil seals on axles??
    How u get old seals out of case ?
    Especially the small ones on brake shaft ? Thanks

    • @VinsGN
      @VinsGN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, typically I will use a curved pick to pull the seal out, make sure there are no burrs or sharp edges on the shaft or case, coat everything with a little oil and then lightly tap using a hammer and punch to seat the new seal... if you have a socket large and deep enough that works also, 👍

    what if you were to use a piece of brake line with a chamfer on it to push that detent ball in ?

    • @VinsGN
      @VinsGN  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would have to be a small brake line as the channel the ball goes threw is only 1/4" in diameter...

    I have a 313-8 will this transmission and the right axel came out any guess as to what happened? Did the clip break maybe? Was mowing normally I wouldn't think the shaft itself broke.. thanks

    • @VinsGN
      @VinsGN  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, does sound like the axle retainer clip failed or the end of the axle wore out causing the clip to fall off? The wearing out of the axle seems a touch extreme to me though... in either case you will have to field strip the trans... or locate a good used trans and do a swap...
