- Due to the difficulties presented by the persons who watched the previous tutorial, finding the hinge ring for the egg, I present a new tutorial with an alternative way to the closure of the little box.
Devido às dificuldades apresentadas pelas pessoas que assistiram ao tutorial anterior, em encontrar o fecho metálico para o ovo, venho apresentar um novo tutorial, com uma forma alternativa para o fecho da caixinha.

this HAS to be my MOST FAVORITE polymer clay channel.........any time I feel down or bored.......watching her videos ALWAYS helps!!!! this channel has helped me SO much in my own creations!!! THANK YOU!!!! : )
Love your work!!! You do a beautiful job!! Thanks for sharing! I'm going to look for a wood egg so I can give it a try!!
Oh, thank you for this alternative to the ringed hinge. I did find them, but they are expensive and had to be ordered with an egg (it's an egg art site). This is so clever and pretty. I learn a lot from your videos. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for showing a different way to do the closure for the egg. My mom wanted to make this so bad, but was unable to find the hing ring and the correct size. Thanks again and love your work :-)

Hi, Sandrartes...I´m for sure, your biggest fan!!! I have not been able to do a box like this one or the flower box you did in one of your other tutorials. I already did my plaster mold, but I just can't get it right. Any tips you have for me? I have been trying for a week now. :(
Thank you for all your videos anyway!!!
Lucia

Thank you montree top! :))
Amazing !
"That looks easy!" *tries* *fails* *cries for life*
Wonderfull! What varnish are you use?
I have seen that you use Fimo clay. I'm fairly new to this medium and have been using Sculpey Clay. Do you know if that will work that same is Fimo? I am also having a very challenging time finding even the basic hinges and clasps. Where did you get yours from?
wow AWESOME
So Cute !!! Love all ur work :)
AWESOME!
Muito criativo.Gostei.
:) Obrigada
Thank you so much for this! I was having so much trouble trying to figure out an easy and affordable way to hinge my egg boxes - you're wonderful! Subbed!!!
Are you using Fimo soft or classic? I do sugar art figures but I'm starting to think about working with polymer clay so I'm trying to learn about the different types of clay. Thanks for sharing your art, you're very talented.
Hi gmaureen! Thank you for watching!:)
I use fimo soft.
Polymer clay figurines are great for cake decorations! :)
Wow
Me encanto!!
Gracias mgb629! :D
definitivamente hermosooooooooooooooooooooooooo
OOOHHH!!! Gracias Sandra nich! :))
This is so cute!!! I really love it.
Question: I tried to make a practice one and had ruined it trying to get it off the wood. I know you use talc, then cut and bake. But could you share more steps/tips? Please
Rae Mckenzie Hi Rae Mckenzie! :D
I don't know what brand of polymer clay you have used, but it could make difference.
I use fimo soft in my projects.
The first layer of clay can't be very thin and is important that the piece is cool when you remove her from the egg.
The talc is also very important... you can abuse on it ;)
sandrartes Thanks! I think I'll give it a second try now!
If you don't have Fimo to make this project I can, also, suggest you to use a natural egg. Duck eggs have a good size. That way, and if it doesn't come off, you can break the egg and not the piece
That is very cute but how functional was it over time? If it was handled a lot (opened and closed) would it crack or otherwise break?
- Heidi
BlackCat2 Hi Heidi! :D
Polymer clay is a very resistant material. It will no break by handle it...
Is like the porcelain eggs... they only break if we are not careful! :)
Really nice egg box! I must try one for myself. Just 2 questions: what are the metal parts called? & what are those two liquids you mix to use as glue?
Hi kitsuneFireheart! :)
For this tutorial i used regular pieces to close wood boxes. On the previous one i used a hinge ring (usualy used on eggery art)
The glue I use is a 2 component glue (epoxy glue)
Tahnk you for watching! :))
sandrartes Thanks a lot for the response, I appreciate it! I think making clay boxes is fun (just haven't made one with a clasp like this yet) xD
I will be sure to check more of your videos as well. n.n
Your welcome! :))
And thank you, for watching! :D
Che idea stupenda, grazie per averla condivisa :-)
posutolo2009 Grazie mile posutolo2009!! :D
Where do you live ? I like you. (Est ce que vous allez vendre vos creations(French)
Amei!!!!
What a lovely easter project. Would UHU glue work for the metal parts? I would love to try this some day. I will try and find a wooden egg! Thanks :)
Hello again! :)
I'm not sure about UHU glue!... I prefer epoxi glue (2 components) or E6000
And thank you for your nice words! :D
Haha yes I went on a sandrarts marathon! You have some lovely ideas :) Thanks for the advice. I can't wait to try a version of this next easter.
Thank you! :)) I'm very happy! :))
I only tried this project with Fimo. if you are going to try it with another brand of clay make a test before. Place a sample of polymer clay on the egg and bake it. Then you can see if you can remove the clay from the egg ;))
Yay, that's ok, I use fimo :) But that's a good point so thanks. I was thinking of giving premo a try so I will just use fimo for this kind of project. :)
You can try with premo. You just need to test it first;)
LUV IT
puedes hacer una de esas mismas pero como con un efecto de fuego gracias
comme toujours. ... ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
so cute
Hi! What is the glue you're using?? And do you think E6000 glue would suffice?
Hi Rebecca Jenkins!
I use mostly epoxi glue, but also E6000. Is ok if you use it ;)
Are there other things to use to make the egg shape instead of the actual wooden egg
GabbyZilla Arts
Metal and glass are great as support, but is not very easy to find the shapes we want...
sandrartes
paper can be a solution too ;)
GabbyZilla Arts You can use an actual egg, you just have to empty it and clean it first.
Amei
Sandra Pimentel Muito obrigada Sandra pelas simpáticas mensagens!!! :D
Beijocas!!!
Please help I have tried this several times either I have air bubbles in clay and then the bottom of egg sticks to base and when I put grass on it pulls away from base then I figured i would pre bake just the egg part first well then it became a giant air bubble which I could not fix please help me
Hi Kimberly!
I don't know what brand of clay you are using, but someone wrote me with some issues on removing the egg, because was using a different brand of clay.
After she tried Fimo and she could make a lot of easter eggs :)
You need to use and abuse on baby powder...
When you cutt the piece in half, it should allow the air to come out...
After baking you need to let the clay cool down.
veri nice i have already copied :)
I tried what you suggested I bought fimo clay and use a lot of powder , and after baking it would not come off of the egg and it had major cracks everywhere is their anything else that you can suggest
Hi Kimberly! :)Maby is the wood quality of the egg that is iterfering with the clay...
I can suggest you to apply wax paper on the critical areas: Use litle circles on the bottom and topp. You can use a strip of wax paper for the midle.
Attach the paper with double-side adhesive tape to the egg, and keep using baby powder.
I belive it will help you.
Let me know if this works! :)
The powder and wood can draw the oils out of the clay and make it brittle and prone to crack. So if you left it on the egg for a long time it's possible that's what's happened.
There are different types of woods, more or less porous. and may or may not be subjected to treatments for porosity, making them more or less impermeable.
The powder should act as a barrier and prevent the two elements joined together
Maybe you should consider replacing the wooden egg by another element with identical shape but made of another material (for example metal)
It may also involve the egg timber with aluminum foil or waxed paper, but in this case will not have a uniform surface on the inside. But it can also make the work interesting! :)
et encore ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Where can I get a wooden egg like that
Autumn Nieto Hi Autumn! :)
You can find them at craft stores that have wood pieces to decorate.
+sandrartes I like it's cute
Donde consigo el huevo de madera
rosalina rodriguez Hola Rosalina! :D
puede encontrar los huevos de madera en las tiandas para manualidades que tengan maderas para decorar
How OCD is this? For about half the video, all I could think of is how the front and back metal pieces weren't symmetrical FML >.
Hello please answer
