That voice in the head is his downfall, worrying about outcomes will cause anxiety, that will mess up your golf swing. He needs to chill, he's too intense which is also a sign of anxiety, stop worrying about winning and stay in the moment. Pressure is mind made, no such thing in reality, the real greats are able to focus the mind on the now and keep that voice quiet.

Did you really need a psychotherapist to work that out?

is it not easier than that to fathom - unless he's playing in Dubai or Saudi he's just nothing like the player he was and is always my first "lay" in every major.
when excelled when he was young and hungry- he's neither of those now

Psychotherapists is using outdated techniques the last thing you want to do is go deep into the trauma itself

Wind conditions don't help either, Augusta was the same way

Every golfer has to deal with conditions m8, him coming from NI he should be more accustomed to playing in the wind than most!
It's always been his putting inside around 12ft, he just doesn't hole his share of makeable putts from this sort of range & particularly when under the gun!
It's no coincidence that his major wins have been won from comfortable positions where his putting isn't under intense pressure.
Jack Nicklaus always said that "sometimes in golf you just have to get the ball in the hole" especially in majors & Rory for whatever reason has always struggled with this!

@@mcvicarross7 wind plays a big factor in it, and some golfers play better in it than others

@@codystevens9784 very true m8, I was surprised that Rory didn't have a plan B out there when the big stick wasn't working! You'd think he could've tried like a 2iron off the tee, dunno if he carries a 1iron but it was very strange watching a player of his experience just continue struggling

@@mcvicarross7 yep, and ik I'm not a pro, but I do play often. I've played in decent wind and it sucks big time. I mean look at the players under par right now. That one guy I've never even heard of

@@codystevens9784 I've not bn playing for a few yrs myself bro but being from Scotland we were used to the wind & I'm not surprised to see Shane Lowry up there, he's grew up playing in testing conditions, that's why I've always bn surprised that Rory never seems to handle blustery conditions well!

Stop taking the bloody driver off the tee. Quite simple. Get a caddy you will listen to for advice.

      Players shouldn't need a caddy
