I cannot believe how good this is.After years of rubbish from Evanescence,Limp Bizkit,Flyleaf and Hannah Montana covering Nirvana finally something with as much artistic credibility as the band themselves.I love this. His voice is unreal as well.
@86Munster well behind all their distortion its all pop music, which always fits well with reggae. Have you ever heard reggae covers of the beatles, fits well. most people get so turned by the "angsty, grunge" scene, that they totally ignore how poppy nirvana where like 85% of the time.
@willem01 I guess youre from holland, arent you? Well me too. But whatever, let's get back to the point. The point is that he's covering the demo version of Sliver, and in that version Kurt uses the lyric 'My grandpa had a cigarette, it touched my arm on accident' and he changed it for the album version :)
sthephanie santos Sim. Tenho dreads há 11 anos , curto reggae e sou rockeiro desde os 13 anos de idade. Nirvana é uma das minhas bandas preferidas. Essa BATALHA DE SEATTLE é um dos melhores discos q já ouvi.
I've never used itunes, always beatport, juno, ithink, bandcamp etc.. I can't find any FLAC option... :( I don't BUY LOSSY MUSIC I'm sorry. What about oceania vinyl distribution, where is the nearest shop with it..
@TheMistamu ""Cover" is just a synonyme for lazy" you obviously know very little about reggae culture, since it has been based on versioning since rocksteady age pretty much. but yeah, of course you´re entitled to your opinion and criticism. it´s just pretty hard to take it seriously.
@TheMistamu i did enjoy it nonetheless and i´m not trying to stop you from doing exactly the opposite. and if you don´t know the difference between "based on" and "done for a long time" it isn´t very hard to see who is the douche here. context, ever heard of it? yo i didn´t try to undermine your opinion at all, you´re entitled to have your own opinion, but you can´t have your own facts. but please go and enjoy something more suitable for your aesthetics. and have a good one.
Well I doubt he knows Nirvana inside out; but nevertheless he still knows who they are who Kurt is. A lot of reggae artists like who? Backed up with racist quotes they have said? Bob Marley isn't one of them in an interview he says 'all I wish for his for whites, black chinese and whoever to live together'. Afrocentrism didn't have a particularly negative definition...Unless it was explained in a more diplomatic way when I researched.
@TheMistamu now i am acting like a douchè because i`m replying you once more. 1. none. 2.true. but it is customary to have an opinion based on something. personally i like facts and context. 3. historical facts tend to be a factor to the aesthetics of a genre. 4. i did´t. i was suggesting you´d listen to something more pleasing, but if you´re into masochism, do that then. 5. you had no point.
Also yes although Rastafarian can be seen as racist understand why. If the whites did make black people suffer and believed in equality (like them christians should have done - people in the old days were all religious) then Rastafarian wouldn't have been created. It's a religion about being freed from the white people and being taken back to Ethiopia. All they want is their freedom; I don't condone in racism but black people have suffered too much.
this is great - Kurt would love it!
Agree!
Yeah right, as if you'd know him

Incredible. Little Roy communicates the trauma, loss and beauty of Kurt's song Sliver.

We so much liking these pop recordings you play us here.
Maybe we make the sweet music together?
The brass on 'Dive' reminds me of 'Geno' by Dexy's Midnight Runners.
like both but the dive part is better!!
the horns are paying homage to an old reggae rythm called "Real Rock" aka Armagideon Time
