What is this myth that Germany can invade France if it goes through Belgium ie the Schliefen Plan. It was a complete failure in World War 1 and wasnt even used in World War 2.

As a german I am very surpriesed how many french write something like we are friends or even brothers in the comments, I always thought you don't like us.

It's british diplomacy which has done the french-german wars... British policy wasn't accepting a new french empire nor a german reich... They wanted the balance of powers on continent and then they pushed Napoleon the 3rd to declare war to Bismarck, which was a true stupidity, france had twice less soldiers than Germans... British were unhappy that the french lost and then it was meaning Germany was getting stronger and stronger... the Great war was wanted by British which wanted to pin down Germany and their dream of a great fleet to match the RN, French wanted revenge of 1870-71 conflict, Germany wanted to erase the menace of a war on 2 fronts then atatcked preventively France to put it out of the war before British would have put their troops on the french ground, but alas, those stupid frogs did better than resisting and the counter attack of the Marne was totally unexpected... especially considering the difference in manpower (France : 35M, Germany : 65M)... This time french have a bigger army, a more experienced one, it's french army which knows the modern warfare and Germany, due to its Histiry in the WWII lost alot. French air force would prevail and destroy german air force easily, then french air force would give great support to land army, and in the plains, the advance will be fast. The superior armement industry, better equipments, better training and far more experienced troops will be decisive here. Butr I would regret a war with germans, they are our trusting allies, I dislike their gov but overall, germans have learnt alot from their History, I have served 4 years there in french forces based in Saarburg and Trier. Good people which has a lot in common with France. and to finish, french are "bad players" as we say here... if we were about to be invaded, no chance it would happen AGAIN, we would use all our nukes, better a draw and all dead than being again occupied, I prefer and most French like me, would prefer a free death than a slave life. french nukes have been built for that purpose, and be convinced than in the actual world, there are no other nuke countries as determinated as France to use their Nukes, excepted maybe Israel... Countries which haven't known occupation can't understand what he means... British easy in their isles have had the chance to only knowing the Blitz, We have known both Blitz, Blitzkrieg, occupation, murders, deportation, dictature, torture, vicious civil war etc... all the things which is going with an occupation by a barbaric nazi power... all other continental countries know what I mean, speak with Czech, Polish, belgians, Dutch, Norvegians, yougoslavians, etc... they would tell you, no more occupation, especially for eastern europe, they have known 2 following harsh occupations in a round : Nazis then Soviets, ask them, if they had nukes as france, they would tell you : NO MORE OCCUPATION ! Indeed, but in a realistic scenario, Germany would just get oblitarated byFrance due to nuclear techs, somehow i don't think Germany would have enough time to wake up.
yes, Germany has better industry and more population... but even if a quick rearm can properly rebuild land and even (to a certain degree) air forces, it can't rebuild Naval forces, which is a long term build only. and there France has the advantage with SSN and CVBG, Therefore it can block Germany from sea supplies and if it manages to keep things even on land an air, the German advantage given by larger population economy and (at that point) land & air forces its ultimately doomed.
But then, when 2 countrys like those enter war, large alliances are formed, in example Russia could play a major role by supplying with oil and food (or not) to the germans, USA could do the same effectively restricting France's hability to block Germanys sea commerce. At the end of the day, only a minor border conflict can be fought without other nations making a major turn in the belligerant's outcome

Those military bases along the border are a heritage of the past. During the cold war they were quite handy because in case of a Warsaw Pact agression they were the closest to the front.
Now it just costs too much to relocate those bases near harbor and airports were they would be the most useful in anticipation of projection to Africa or the Middle East.

Azerbaijan actually had the upper hand for the entirety of the war, I think the only reason they were losing was because of troop skill alone. Azerbaijan initially had a much higher population plus an exponentially larger supply of munitions, yet Armenia was able to fight their way in that far.
It probably has something to do with morale, which is disregarded in these videos, but while Armenians see this as something they live to die for, the Azerbaijanis just see the conflict as a massive, bleeding inconvenience and are unwilling to fight.

The only reason why Azerbaijan can't push in and take over the land is Russia and other foreign powers... If Armenia would have no support and Azerbaijan also would have no support, Azerbaijan probably would conquer big parts of Armenia pretty fast, since they have a relatively strong army.

I don't know how many nukes are stored in germany in total, but I do know that the US has stored a number of brand new missles in germany. 2015 I believe.
In 2009 our foreign minister wanted us nukes out of the country. So there was a bit of a political argument when more us nukes were stationed in germany a couple years later. Tied in with the nuclear powerplant stuff aswell.
Of course no nukes allowed, but still, the french nuclear doctrine states that they would be used in case of an unstoppable invasion like 1940. It's either France wins or Germany wins for 10 minutes and gets nuked.

I don't think people today understand that the Germany of today is completely different from the Germany of 1914 and 1939. Prussianism is dead and buried. Furthermore, the German military is in a horrendously bad state at the moment, and there is no will to fight in Germany - they're planning to recruit foreigners into the German army, because there simply aren't enough Germans willing to join the military. Europeans understand this, only Americans - far away from Europe - fail to understand the reality of Europe. France, Britain and Russia are the only European powers who take their militaries seriously.

The entirety of French military policy since 1944 has been geared toward ensuring no threat from the east ever succeeds again - whether from a numerically superior USSR or a resurgent Germany. During the Cold war the French had well over a quarter million troops on German soil ready to counter anything the Soviets threw. Those defences have moved and reduced, but not far, and not by much. Modern Germany would be steamrolled even worse than this video shows if the war lasts longer than a year, France has a far larger population of military age several million reservists back from when they had conscription and could be quickly refreshed. Merkel would not have the guts for the fight, not that Macron would start anything himself either but if say the entire war started under a false flag op or whatever, he would have no choice, the WW2 scars to the French psyche still linger. I don't need to mention the threat of her massive nuclear arsenal, which Germany has no answer to. France would ragdoll Germany then grab the Rhineland, as well as the whole of Baden Wurttemberg, and never fucking let go.

I understand your point is that defence industry might not be located there, but the overall impact is still relevant, especially considering many of the mineral deposits and materials which would have to be used for those defence industries are still located in the Rhine.

The military port of Toulon (Mediterranean Sea) contains almost only old ships that require repairs or maintenance. But as of today we remain as individual little states locked in a trade union that has politicised itself into an organisation that nobody originally voted for with each Nation within the block still having their own individual interests on an increasingly more hostile and ever growing World stage. Eventually within the next few decades or so maybe even sooner depending on international relations and World events I see the Federalisation of Europe as being a very real assurity.
The E.U as a poltical entity is disliked among many European people's for how our polticians played their way into creating a seudo European Confederation from what was supposed to be a trade only agreement into something that was never discussed with or put to the peoples vote. But with that being said don't let the disdain for current E.U politics among Europeans blind you from the fact that Europe and European people are closer now than we have ever been in Human History and the World will only push us closer together.
