Boston, Elton, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac man I was born in 1970 and by the time I could walk and talk I was jumping off our couch onto the pillows on the floor doing front flips to all my Mother's 45's dam wish we could go back and do again then the 80's came a lot of good bands like 'The Car's, Madonna The Cure that's when the Girls started happening ! 👍
He toured with the Scorpions that summer (‘84) as their warmup band. I got to see him when he played in Charlevoix, Michigan. Absolutely ELECTRIC. He almost stole the show. We had close seats too! Back then you could get concert tickets for $12-15. Good times!!!

The 80s were the best and American bandstand was a great show and never missed it. What a treasure and thank you TH-cam and technology. This is with Bon Jovi back in the day! Love you, Dick Clark, and rest in peace and love you, Bon Jovi and the gang still rockin! ❤
I was a senior in 1984 and I can't count how many times I've seen them live! Love that Jon serves his community after all his success! I dated a guy who was a few years older, played guitar in a band and he had Bon Jovi hair, lol! Man those were the days!
Mark Goodman was talking about how funny this is on Sirius today so I had to look it up. Great album. I was in Jr High when this album came out. Saw them twice in 89 with Skid Row.
You were listening to the same show I was I was doing my UPS route when I heard the same thing that’s why I came here to check it out. Nothing really funny that I saw though.
@@John-w2w2q true, I really liked them and still do. I thought this was awesome, other than it being not live, lip syncing at its best, and not a cord plugged in for the guitars or mic, but hey, that was the awesome 80's.
“She Don’t Know me” was actually my first fav song by BJ. Found out later it’s one of if not the only song Jon and the band didn’t write?? I can’t remember if they played it when they opened up for the Scorpions but I know I haven’t heard it played live after that? I’m going out on a limb and saying these two songs on AB were 100% lip synced. I’m so glad they left that behind as that’s when Jon’s voice was incredible! I hope this cutting edge surgery he had on his chords helped him. I know he was pretty upset but Father Time gets even the best singers.”
Until today no party or road trip without BJ ✊🔥✊. My kids and grandchilds grew up with them and if we are in the car it is a MUST to listen to their great music... Bon Jovi was and is a beautiful man with a big heart same as Dorothea 💝💝💝.
Got to admit.. They were pretty tight. Remember when this came on the stage. Fresh, new, big hair, great pants !! 😅 Time goes by fast.. Thank you Maynard James..
1984 I was 15 going on 16 what an awesome time looking at this ugly world that we live in now can I go back to 1980 and it's relive it all over and stay there
Getting signed to a major label, having hit radio songs, going on world tours, videos being shown on MTV & performing on Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand”…Wow!!!
After hearing their hit song Runaway on the radio I went out and bought the cassette tape which I still have to this day. Also while at work back in 83 I was the fourth caller to my local radio station and won two tickets to see them perform live at a night club on US 1 in NJ just as they were starting their career. Forgot the name of the club but it was a great time. Miss the 80's!
Ha this made me smile...sum great memories!! Saw them in concert several times, and they rocked tha house! Wish I could go back...the clothes, the big hair, the bad azz fast cars and the music!🤘
I love how Jon said that his band is opening up for The Scorpions. Who knew that just a few years later Bon Jovi would be the headliner band? I also like how Jon introduced David by his real name, David Rashbaum.
Great footage. I was 12 yrs old at this time and fully in to MTV. I bought this album that same year, but somehow missed this AB appearance. Great to watch!
But he was the one who coined Steve Perry as ‘the Voice’. Jon was humble enough about his talent to be able and willing to praise others. Admirable of him.
This was the first record I ever bought! Love Bon Jovi.❤ I was only 14 when this came out! Wow! Time flies, and I still listen to 80's music all the time.
I only watched AB when they had JBJ and my musicians. Although I can’t knock the show so many people loved it. They are so adorable, this was the year I was hooked. Jon had me, back then they had 3-4 guys sporting the same perms and long hair earrings and more makeup than I wore. It took me a few days to nail down its Jon not the others. Bring back the 80s!!
I remember when She don't know me came out. The 80's felt like 10 years ago. Great times!
Yep..wasn't that around the same time as "sing me away"? And "Hollywood" by shooting Star?
sooo many great Hair bands in 80s - Cinderella, Europe , Ratt, Quiet Riot, Journey, the list is endless
Dont put Journey in the same sentence with these characters. Steve Perry, totally different level of talent.
Totally.
The 80s were the best of everything, music, partys, girls, everybody got along and could chill best times ever !!!!
Dude, that's a lie. I've been told of many, many fights in schools and elsewhere, of discrimination, sexual harassment and more.
Cartoons and then Bandstand- Saturday morning in early 80s
Take me back!!
The BEST times!!
Yes sir . Every Saturday morning. After football. Jr. Pro football lol
Yep!!
This takes me back. In 84, I was 12 years old and fell in love with Bon Jovi, and you know what, I still do.
I was 17
I didn't think he was that good looking until I saw him in person in 2004. He is way more beautiful in person.
I was in High School and if you were wanting to get with a super cutie....go to a bon jovi concert...damn
My 20s were in the 80s . I love that music then and still love it today ❤️ 😍 💕 ❤❤❤❤❤
Me Too
Yep, me too. 🤟
Just 2 years later they penned “Wanted Dead Or Alive” greatest rock ballad on the planet!🤘
I wouldn't consider Wanted Dead or Alive a ballad.
They changed a lot in those 2 years....Jon got much less gawky and clumsy on stage. They definitely got cooler....Style and substance improved a lot.
@@7Earthsky 100%🤘
Nope. Greatest rock ballad is Living in sin
@@mikemeaney4027except? It is😊
This is funny....they are timeless and they had no idea back then the journey ahead and the millions of records they would sell..Love them❤🥰
Oh boy they had no clue...Life was about to take a HUGE turn for them.
I was 13 living outside of Boston, fast forward to 1987 and I was living in Hawaii and went to the very last show of the Slippery When Wet tour.,
Too bad this wasn’t a live performance. It’s a lip sync of the studio recording. Terrible. 👍🏻✌🏻
I knew theyd be a hit first time i heard them Still love them
I have a Boston too. Best damn dog ever!!
