    Love that you're starting to embrace your curls. Your texture is gorgeous. I know it's been a struggle. It was for me with my curly hair, too. Gosh, what the media of the early 2000s brainwashed us into believing beautiful hair was. Or rather the "only kind of hair that was beautiful." I am happy to say today, that I wholeheartedly love my curls and I wish the same for you!

    I know some people get irritated when a celebrity uses some skincare products that might be a bit expensive but the thing about is it that they’re not trying to sell us the products. Vogue Beauty secrets is literally just showing us what some of our favorite celebrities use for their skin, like they’re not telling us “you have to buy this product” or “you need to buy these products.” Even the ones that are sometimes ads where the celebrity is using products mainly by one brand….that’s not their fault, they’re being paid to use them and that’s how they make some of their money. At the end of the day, it really shouldn’t make a difference as to if some of these products are expensive or not….unless we’re truly thinking about buying some of them, Madelyn and any other celebrity using 1-2 expensive skincare products doesn’t impact any of us at all directly, like it’s their skincare meant for them and their faces individually….as long as it works for them, that’s all that should matter.

    That Skinceuticals Phyto A+ is not a retinoid. It contains Azaleic Acid and Alpha Arbutin; so the A stands for those ingredients and not Vitamin A. ☺️

    I love your videos, ur so real and since I’ve started following you I’ve done my darnest to change my skincare routine, i had horrible acne in my teens with painful cystic acne, my husbands was worse and was put on accutain , so I know my kids are probably in for a rough time when they hit puberty, now I’m 35 with textured skin and still have acne and on occasion cystic acne.. I’ve found a lot of the products u have recommended and I use now .. I’m more confident being natural faced than with makeup and I used to be that person who wouldn’t leave the house without makeup on and would buy the makeup that was “skin clearing” and wear ALL the time thinking it was helping .. but then would look 20 years older due to the makeup looking awful on my skin because of how textured it is along with having oily and dry skin and it settling and shifting ( it was so gross) .. so because of you I’m more confident in my skin and I’ll continue to watch your videos and when my kids hit the rough teenage years I’ll reference these videos and instead of spending way too much on expensive products I’ll look up the products u recommend first and hopefully get their routine started early before it gets too bad.. I just hope that by the time my oldest hit puberty.. acne is a bit more normalized.. I know growing up if u had bad skin you were like at like u had the bubonic plague .. and I remember being told to stop eating junk food like pizza and wash my face more often.. because i “dirty” it was soul crushing

      I'd suggest getting in to see a doctor if possible to check what is going on with your skin, TH-cam recommendations are one thing - custom knowledge is better. Apostrophe if you live in the states seems to be a great option that Cass recommends sometimes too.
      For your post inflammatory hyperpigmentation or PIH (fancy words for the marks left after spots go) look for niacinamide, licorice root extracts, and vitamin C products. I live in New Zealand so my product recommendations are not helpful, but Cassandra has several videos on dealing with PIH... and again, TH-cam learning is great, but sometimes you need custom help!
      Good luck

      Have you tried cutting down on all the exfoliation?? Using AHA and BHA every night with retinoids seems waaaay too much to me, especially with a drying face wash!!
      Most skincare people I watch recommend exfoliating 2-3 times a week, and never on the same days as retinoids. Alternate, and as someone with mature skin myself I'd say your skin will thank you for it!
      I can't use coconut either, and there are hundreds of good moisturisers out there, I live in New Zealand and use local ones at the moment - but I'd say there are more non-coconut than coconut moisturisers in the world!

      @@cheekyb71 I'd love recommendations on moisturizers if you have them!
      And yes, I have tried cutting down on the actives, but it seems that even one night without my beautiful Some By Mi AHA BHA Cica gel or some other variation of AHA+BHA results in breakouts. The one I use is pretty gentle, but I do seem to need it every night.

    Question on some conflicting information I’ve reviewed.
    Can vitamin C and retinol (any form) be used alongside a benzoyl peroxide wash/active? I’ve read information stating that vitamin C and retinol both are rendered ineffective if used after benzoyl peroxide. And also that using a retinol in conjunction with a vitamin C would render the vitamin C ineffective. If this is the case it seems like it would be a game of rock, paper, scissors of one active always canceling one or another out. Not sure if there’s anything new on pubmed or freely available online with updated information. But curious if using these three actives all in the same routine is actually retentive if their efficacy?

    Hi Cassandra) I love your video, been watching them over 2 years now maybe more😅) I have a question, is that true the liquid sunscreens do not protect in the same way as a creamy consistency? I been hearing this for a while, but not sure if that's true. Thank you❤️

    • @cheekyb71
      @cheekyb71 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not true - if the product has been tested as SPF 50, then it is at minimum SPF 50 regardless of the formulation. Some products fall down on their testing, but that doesn't change between formulas, its all to do with dodgy labs

    I’m not so big on eye creams but I have been trying the same one as she is using and although I really hate the strong perfume smell that it has I like the free sample which I have been using for around 3 days now. I don’t have a lot of under eye wrinkles though. I will never understand why companies find the need to make skincare products smell like strong perfumes from the 1980’s.

    But wait I thought and heard that using a vitamin c serum and retinal cancel each other and you're supposed to use one in the morning and one in the evening? also im very confused now doesn't using a face wash that lowers your ph level isnt good when using a vitamin c serum? What I wanna use is my Dr Dennis Gross Daily Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel Pads then my Vitamin C serum . can I use these 2 products together? My main concern is using products that will cancel out my Vitamin C serum I use the Skin Cent. $169 also what do you think of the Timeless Vitamin C as a dupe? thanks!!

    • @kategolden8840
      @kategolden8840 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vitamine C has to be at a pH of around 3.5 to penetrate the skin. Aha/bha and Vitamine C dont cancel eachother out but you could really irritate your skin. It's better to play it safe and alternate days.

    Hi Lovely Butterflies, i have a question regarding retinol. I'm starting my journey with it. My skin got used to using retinol every single night, in the lowest percentage of 0.25. Now I want to move to 0.5% and i need an advise. Do i start using 0.5% every single night, or do I start over again by letting my skin adjust to it by using it first twice a week, and then slowly increasing the number of nights that i use it in a week? I'd appreciate your help beautifuls! :*

    The Lotion P50 with the Phenol is the old, origianl formula. BR actually advises on using the new formula, as these say it is improved, but they keep this around because of demand for it, due largely in part, no doubt, to Caroline Hirons' love of it. It (the Phenol version) is sold only in the US, not legal in the EU. And the price just increased by $11 at the start of the year. They're claiming it's due to COVID and the resulting supply chain issues. I know many high end skincare lines increase their prices anually, but an $11 price hike is outrageous. I use the version without the phenol and I can say that I've had great results with it. I just purchased a bottle before the price hike, thankfully, but I have to admit, as much as the price tag annoys me, and in my money, that's $252, plus shipping, duties and taxes, it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make when my bottle is finished. I've tried other acid toners and none work for me as well as this does. Strangers always tell me my skin is glowing when I use this. So, I'd rather give up something else - like, dunno, Starbucks Coffee? - to keep using P50. That said, though I know it's wishful thinking, once the supply chain issues are sorted, I hope the price comes back down. Again, I know that's wishful thinking, but a girl can dream, even if those dreams are dellusional. :o)
