Hi! Just want to say thanks for sharing your knowledge, especially the Pentax-related stuff. I´ve been following you for quite a while and your videos have taught me a lot - and they still do. Cheers, from a hobby photographer in Norway - and I´ll be enjoying your forthcoming vids :) Dag.
Hey, great video again Ed. Love it when you ' go off ' making your point across. LOL And I totally agree with your view point coming from owning a K5 and the new K3. I'm thinking people don't really use post processing that often cause I'm going WOW every time I use Lightroom. They want the quick and dirty super nice pics out of the camera. Anyways, hey are you gonna get some of that new HD primes? If you do please make some reviews! Keep on shooting!
Hi thanks for the informative videos. I was just wondering if the central 16mpix of K3 is as sharp as an image taken with k5IIs. Maybe cropped image of k3 with a 35mm vs k5 with a 50mm lens.
This was very helpful. I follow much of what you are saying here and it explains a lot. Thanks. I had a similar feeling when I first looked at my K3 photos in Lightroom. I assumed it was me though and not the camera. I do wish people wouldn't trash cameras on the forums. It can be quite upsetting to newbies and doesn't help much. When I got my K30 back in August, the pictures were so amazing (to me, and my Mom/kids (smile)). The K30 pictures of froggy and duck in pond - good grief you felt wet looking at them they were that sharp. With no skills and at the point of either green mode or trying the same picture at every aperture they were sharp. I couldn't resist the K3, which I think, just for me, was probably jumping ahead too fast. The first K3 pictures I took did look a bit grainy in Lightroom. However, after taking the K3 camera out just a few times, I am getting sharper pictures. I don't know how they are getting sharper as I haven't had time to do much but take pix while walking the dog! But they are improving. And I do see that the autofocus is faster than the K30.
rustic lol , that did make me laugh. i would expect the k3 to beat the k5iis in all depts , i understand your high iso argument but this sony 24mp sensor has been out a while with the a77. the d7100 uses a new toshiba sensor, a firmware update is imminent to restore market faith
Thank you for the video! It's great as usual. However I would like to add that according to the DxO data, the ISO of K3 just as good as of K-5 IIs. I know that you pointed out about the ISOs of Jpegs out of the cameras but you could stress more about the RAW quality too. P.S. Why did you remove the words from the Bible in your videos? I'm very glad that you're a Christian and don't hide it. Everyone should preach from where he/she is.
Ed , well done ..there is no problem , for true pentaxian two body , K5IIs and K3 as backup body or Vice versa ..and a choice for amateurs between a good body and a ......good body ,simple as that Best wishes from London
The D600 has better high ISO noise performance according to DXO than the D4! The D4 has an 18MP sensor to enable high burst rates without jamming the memory buffer and processor. I think. (I would be lying if I said I was certain about this...)
I almost always aim to shoot as close to f/8 and low iso as I can for landscape, on a tripod, 2 sec. shutter delay min. = more likely to have good lens and camera performance.
There is a reality with the Pentax .. I have a K5 and if there is a process of learning to use the systems, also use the NEX system, and if I put the two on a par without knowing the camera immediately can produce great pictures with the NEX but .. with k5 would have to go through a process of learning, now say that, after a couple of months, it is undeniable that I get better pictures with k5 with the NEX, so the K system. is a learning process the photos are amazing. My k3 is coming ..
hi ed so if i understand u what i now hand hold with my k511s (sometimes down to 1/4 of a second) and r getting sharp results i wont be able to do that with the k3 because its 24 mp (pardon my ignorance )
Lol! It's the same sensor that was in Sony's a77/a65! Pentax and nikon get their sensors from Sony. But the main reason for shooting pentax is 43/77 limited FA lenses. They are basically leica quality at 1/10 th of the cost.
Those who love to attack Pentax gear are most likely the immature Canikon fanboys. Don't have a open mind and rely on their cameras with no skill but a big mouth.
Love all your videos! Your presentation style is FINE, it's honest and too the point and I've learned a ton, that's what keeps me coming back.
Ed you are an amazing dude. I hit the like button before I watch the videos. I am pretty sure that almost everybody likes your presentation style.
photouniverse Your delivery style is perfect Ed, don't change a thing. We just want the info. :)
OMG, so many things I've learned about photography in general with this video.

Great video still tossing around the idea of getting a new old stock k5iis. However close to KF price for the k5iis

saying that the camera sucks when your results are bad ist ridiculous... sour grapes
Dude I was looking for the comparison and not bs about everyone else
very informative, thanks.
