What do you do to improve your art?
In this video I want to share how I make this illustration. I want to show my complete process from sketching to rendering to the final details.
This time I didn’t include the reference finding part since I made a separate video on how I find and work with reference: • DO THIS: Level Up Your...
This piece taught me a lot since I included a background, perspective on the character and dynamic lighting. Usually I don’t draw such complex scenes but the challenge was helpful since I want to improve drawing things like that.
It’s funny since I made a video in December where I didn’t manage to fit the character into the scene but I think that’s much better now. What do you think?

i definitely like the process of colouring more than lineart (i still suck tho 😭) but watching other artists doing the whole process shows me how much patience and skill goes into everything!
Ahh I understand this. I actually like lineart more since colouring things makes me realise all the mistakes I made in proportions or stuff ^^'
This is where I come to find motivation, amazing work as always, when I thought this guy could not get any better he opens Blender and makes his own reference, it took me 2 years to teach myself Clip Studio, have got proficient with Daz Studio and Blender is my next challenge. Great work.
Sometimes I forget there are tools to make it easier…
Yeah right! And I bet there would be even more I don't even know about their existence lol but I guess it's a matter of making it flow into your natural work flow so that it doesn't feel forced or tedious :)

Thanks! I am pretty sure you'll do this. Learning while pursuing a project you want to see visualised is my motivation to keep doing. I'm stuck rn, my progress is so stagnant and idk what to do to improve, but looking at your art gives me a bit more motivation. I know all these frustrations will pay off one day
Ohh so relatable. I am always thinking "for what am I even doing this. It's painful" but then i look back and see my progress and know "ah, yes, for exactly that" and I think keep working and doing is the key to being satisfied with art. At least for my process. Thank you! That was thanks to several sketches I did before working on the refined one. So I had less to interpret when I started inking ^^

At 5:48 you can try to render 2 versions of that frame in Eeve and Workbench, workbench use the setting: lighting-flat, color-whatever you want. Throw them into your CSP on top of each other. Select the color area of the workbench and you have a perfection selection area of the eeve render 🙏

Aw you've noticed. Thank you so much :) for me the best way to understand anatomy was to see how others study and simplify the human body. Then I tried to recreate it and use it for my own process. When I think it suits my style of working I added this new knowledge to my tool kit and if it doesnt I tried to find other ways simplification. For perspective..that's still a bit wonky but I guess it's the same method.

I am glad you like it 😌 I think having references and inspiring art by other people while drawing is a great way to study their work while implementing the knowledge and observation into your own process :)

I like how you made the bg blue, it makes the red highlights on his design stand out ahaha.. I really admire the way you handled all those details, seriously. I would’ve left such a piece on hold for the next 2 years lol, beautiful art as per always! The way you painted the windows on the buildings is such a smart move, I’m pretty sure I would have painted each one individually ahaha, I’ll be sure to take reference next time I’m drawing buildings! Oh and I think you maybe should’ve painted the background first so you know which colour will come from which direction especially with so many metallic parts :D

Thanks for your indepth comment! The way to paint windows is just lazy but effective haha and since I got the perspective rulers in place I used them for the windows as well ^^ I really should have made a more careful rough painting first to get all the lights and colours correct but since I ended up with the red sky for the final version this wouldn't have been possible with planning it beforehand. And yes, I didn't do a general rough colour layer. Honestly idk why I didn't...maybe the whole project was a complete new approach with including a bg from the very beginning so that I changed my work flow as well 😅
I usually see your streams and holly crap, the masterpieces you make they make no sense there are awesome. How long do u take to learn to render like that?
I wish I would stream honestly. That's still one of my goals to do. I draw Anime since 2017 and digital since 2012. Almost every day without longer periods of breaks :)

I liked both versions of the final artwork! I'm curious if you use any blend modes like Overlays or Glow Dodge for the shiny metal parts? Is it just freehand? :O Because it looks so shiny with just natural painting!
Thanks for letting me know! The metal is drawn without any blending modes. Just harsh contrasts are reason for the metallic look :)
i love your art! i know this is a weird question, but how do you enablethose three lines that stays on the circle cursor? i tried enabling it but couldnt find how
Sadly it's only a bug in displaying it correctly. OBS (my recording software) is messing this up. I see a normal circle when I draw TwT
hello I want to say I really love your art so much! I watch all your videos and they are very helpful ! I am wondering how do you blend and soften edges so well? I tend to overuse smudge tool to “soften” edges, but it usually ends up looking too smudgey, or is there other ways to doing this without over complicating it ?
Aw thanks! Actually that's quite funny. Today I found out about the smudge tool in Clip Studio and now I am using it all the time 😅 but generally I love to work with the airbrush on various hardness levels. To get sharper edges back I use the textured watercolour brush I linked in the description. It's very nice to get a sharp but a bit blurry edge back. I also like to just sharpen one side of a shadow or light so that one side is fading smoother into the surrounding areas than the hard edge. I hope that makes sense. It's quite a complex topic 🙇♂️

Ahh because I like lineart the most tbh? 😅 I hate Sketching for example so u am always happy to move on to part when my brain can have a rest and autopilot through this process. But seriously I guess it's just having a display tablet, pen stabilisation and fun ^^'
