I am completely puzzled by this saga. How can he announce he is leaving ManU without an option already lined up?! He shows his lack of respect for ManU. and the fans. If he needs out of his contract, ManU should ask him to find a club to pay a transfer fee or he needs to buy out his contract with his own money.

As a United fan, I’m not mad that he wants to leave. I’m mad at the way he’s doing it. He knew on the last match day of last season that we wouldn’t be in the UCL. He knew all of June. He then asks to leave, citing no UCL action. Ask to leave at the end of the season, and then it’s all good. It’s disrespectful to throw a fit about something he knew for well over a month.
I've said on numerous occasions that he wants to prove beyond any reasonable doubt, RONALDO is bigger than the club. Period.
He has 3 options:
1) Find a CL club that wants to buy him
2) Buy out his own contract
3) Stay

I actually think Ronaldo SHOULD go to Dortmund for a season. No joke. Sebastien Haller will be out for quite some time, no guarantee when he’ll be back. He'll probably stay where he's at. I'm more curious at how Ten Hag would use him, if he uses him at all. He could see him as a bad apple now and only use him when there's absolutely no other option, he could try to make it work by adapting to Ronaldo's preferred style of play, or he could say Ronaldo better sucks it all up and starts doing his part in defending. I think it's gonna the second option because Ten Hag is more flexible than he's given credit for, but at the same time I doubt he will be happy with the situation.

As a Man United fan I want him gone as soon as possible. His selfish attitude and lack of any pre-season exposure to Ten Hag's system will make it a pain to reintegrate him. Ngl, it kind of pisses me off that so many clubs are being disrespected by the media and internet fanboys because the clubs are not on the "level" of signing Ronaldo even though it is him Ronaldo is looking for anyone who will take him. In fact, he outright rubbished the rumors of him going back to Sporting within a day, probably because he felt insulted by the possibility of playing in the Portuguese league. If he wants Champions League football so bad, he should agree to reduce his wages, or just honor his contract and show up to training like a professional instead of acting like you're bigger than the club. It is moments like these that increase my respect for players like Zlatan Inbrahimovic and Dani Alves who don't mind wage cuts so long as they can help rebuild their team. Sporting could be a good option. He could easily buy a stake of ownership of his youth club and still be great on the pitch. He would easily score 30+ league goals and probably 5-10 in the Champions league depending on the group Sporting end up on. I don’t understand why Ronaldo is so focused on maintaining his high wages when he makes more money from his Instagram post and sponsorship deals that he ever does with any kind of contract with any club. Even if he takes a massive pay cut there’s still the issue of how to fit him into the team plans. He’s not the sort of player who puts his ego aside for the good of the team. During his peak years he was the sort of player coaches would go out of their way to accommodate because of what he could contribute when playing to his full potential. But his era is fading and teams are no longer willing to do that. And so by September I expect CR7naldo to either be playing Europa league football or deciding on an early retirement to maintain his unbroken record of champions league participation since 2002

At the end of the day, he chose United over City. City were, and are, in pole position to not only compete in the CL, but to go as far as semifinals or finals. United, on the other hand, were, and are, rebuilding.
The true alternatives are as follows:
1. He honors his contract like any other professional footballer and stick it out with United
2. He takes a pay cut and gegenpresses for Chelsea and Liverpool
3. He leaves Europe for the MLS, Middle East or China because nobody wants a winger who doesn't contribute to the press
4. He returns to R. Madrid as a 2nd choice attacker.
5. He retires from the sport

His best option is still Bayern, and not just because it is a good guarantee for trophies. This is the first season in probably decades Bayern have not had a natural number 9. Nagelsmann is very talented, but this is a huge change that might not work. Currently there are 6 official games until the end of the transfer window including the Super Cup. If things aren't going well by that 6th game Bayern will panic and get Ronaldo on loan. That would be their best option unless they try and buy Stuttgart's Sasa which they aren't completely happy with internally. So I'm guessing Mendes is hoping that is the case and will be whispering in Bayern's ear all of August that having their traditional number 9 is better.

But waiting 2 months after you spoke to a manager saying that you looked forward to working with him and then asking to leave when no one else wants you and basically publicly going from club to club on your knees begging is embarrassing for both him and United

Speaking completely hypothetically the only club I see him going to is PSG. I understand that they want to move away from it. But their main man Mbappe idolizes Ronaldo.
I think the following can happen. Ronaldo removes his contract and becomes a free agent.
Ronaldo plays for Ten Hag in the Prem and helps the team develop as he wants.
Once the CL starts Ronaldo plays for PSG and he helps them in the CL.
I understand its farfetched, but it has happened before. Most importantly the rules allow it. This does however most likely mean that Ronaldo will need to take a pay cut. But if he cares about his legacy, this might be the way to do it.
The disrespect he is showing utd right now. If he stays the fans have to treat him the way he has treated them. Great players bent over backwards for their clubs and will always be remembered. Look at Totti, Gerard, Del piero. They will always be respected by their clubs as legends.
