My son and I met Ezra in 2003 at Budds Creek and he was the down to earth pro we ever met. The autograph line had just closed and when Ezra seen my son holding up his own bib from Loretta Lynn's Ezra had one of the security guys bring my son over. My son felt so special because not only did Ezra sign it, he talked to him about racing for a few minutes and had Bubba sign it too. Thank you Ezra for being a great ambassador of the sport!!!

I lived in the hemet area in the early 90s, i road with a guy that shared a property line with the McGraths … I never saw it but he told me a story the Jeremy would take a backhoe and dig holes(ditch line) in the ground in a line then ride over those to train for whoops .. it was easier than building individual whoops. When it got chewed up he’d bury it and re-dig ..

I remember Ezra on the Yamaha in '97. He was fast!!! At the Seattle supercross, once he got the lead from either Craig or Ward, he was taking away with it until he cross-rutted at the start of the whoops and went down. To me, it looked like if he didn't do that, there would be no catching him. Doug Henry won that night. At the Pontiac round, McGrath was riding a perfect race. Even Bailey mentioned that but Ezra was still reeling him in. He forced Jeremy to push until he made a mistake and went down. I felt bad when I heard that he had signed with Honda for the '98 season. I've been a Yamaha boy all my life.

Yogi one of my favs from the 90's. Always a class act on and off the track. Never a bad word to say about people or his bikes. I really admired that about him. I wasn't even aware of his family struggles. While, they may have not done everything correctly, they did do something right. They raised a fantastic individual and you got to give them some credit. Not every parent can do that.....Thanks for sharing Ezra, miss you and 90's moto scene. It was such a great period of my life and as well made me into who I am and cool to hear more about your memories.

By '98 McGrath was firmly anointed the all time king of supercross. Jeremy oozed of arrogance and that California swagger. Along comes this quiet kid from the south who came across as humble and thanked God in his podium interviews. A workhorse a bulldog.
That '98 season was such a pleasure to watch and root for Ezra. I never knew about the personal issues he was dealing with at the time. I suspect that if Ezra had a clear head that season he would have wiped that smug smile right off the kings face. Either way, thanks for the memories Ezra! All time Legend!

Bad Head shake when decelerating from speed and vibes through the bars, everything else was just spot on. I put 2005 crf on my 99 cr and that stopped the head shake but there are still vibes and you just hav3 to live with that but I have put foam in the frame to help.
The engine in the 98 was absolutely insane with that power jet carb but apparently Yamaha had the patent on it and stopped them putting it on the 99.

Great show Ping! I watch all the old races religiously, if you ever need any facts or references to what happened before let me know. I think it would have been cool to know how he felt about Ed, Steve, Goose, and Randy. Watching the 94 southwick Ed was a masshole. Steve was emigs mechanic through his Yamaha days, Bradshaw's in 96, and yogi in 97. Goose had Lammy ( a favorite) lusk then Ricky. I went to many of the races they spoke about through the 90's and I love that Ezra was one of the few that could beat Jeremy.
