I think the Asante’s are one of the few people to have have maintained their culture, purely and clean. They didn’t allow Europe to influence them. That is why some people sometimes mock them, that they can’t speak English and they won’t force it too. At the moment, they go to school and speak good English, but now their culture being influence by Europe. As they world moves on, they find ways to adapt their culture in the modern world, through funerals, marriage ceremony and others. And that has sold their culture beyond the shores of Ghana. For example their Kente Cloth; expensive and colorful. And when you’re listening to a Nwomkoro, don’t just dance with it. They document their history in their songs; Nnwomkoro as well. How their monarch fought battles and everything that happened way back are all documented in their songs. No foreign culture has been influence in their culture as aforementioned. And that makes the truth prevails in their kingdom and chieftain you as well. Baffour Amankwatia; Bantamahene and the war lord of Asante; Generations will forever remember you. Asante dawase.

Kente is not Asante, Kente is Akan, it was invented before Akans entered Ivory Coast and then into Ghana. It was developed in Bono (as many things as the Akan Calendar) and was adored by the Asante at the peak of their Empire. Were we naked before the rise of Asante in 1701?

I feel the pain that asantemane endured for the fall of a great military commander, General Baffour Owusu Amankwatia. As a Ghanaian and an Ashanti, these songs bring me a lot of sadness when I hear my people still mourning about the lost of our great ancestors who sacrifice so much for Modern Ghana and the Asantemane. May God richly bless their soul and give them a peaceful rest wherever they are. Amen.

I'm currently doing research on General Amankwatia IV the general who almost defeated British Fanti Alliance which would have changed the history of Ghana. A win for Amankwatia would have meant the sacking of Britain from the Gold Coast and complete domination of the Fanti and Coastal states by the Asanti. He However lost in 1874

@@obenglouis5828 Fante was the problem. The Fante didn't want to be under Ashante rule. Ashante should have respected Fante more and discuss working together for economic prosperity instead of trying to conquer them. Even though the Fante had smaller population no standing army and no one ruler, often times when they unite they manage to subdue every enemy with every resource or knowledge available. If the two people had united early however, it would have deepened the slave trade disaster as these two people were the real power.

amankwatia was a war general of the otumfour opoku ware the first. he was also the chief of bantama. his lineage are the current warlords of otumfour and the batama royals. in the olden days of war..amankwatia led the ashanti armies to various succesful battles. but ofcourse in every battle every side will suffer casualty. so even after the victory there will be a week of mourning for the lost brave souls. this song will be sung to tell amankwatia that it is not necessarily his fault for the death of the war casualty.
