Thank you for posting this. It is such a treat to watch him perform still, 10 years after his sudden and devastating passing. It is also fun to listen to his corny but lovable jokes, and his interesting anecdotes. He genuinely loved entertaining us. I am an original baby boomer fan. I met him once in a book signing, and just before my turn I called my sister on my cell to let her know I was about to meet Davy. He took the phone away from me, and had a five minute conversation with my sister, asking her why she hadn’t come to meet him. It was more like a monologue making everybody in line laugh, to the delight of my two little nephews who had come with me to meet Davy and get his autograph. He also took the time to speak with my nephews exhorting them to be good. Davy signed our books, took a picture with us, and he told my nephews to come to his concert in the summer. We all left with big smiles and full hearts from the experience. In the summer, we went to the concert, and we were allowed backstage for a little while because my nephews showed the guard the pic and told him Davy had invited us to come. Backstage Davy told my nephews he remembered them, and again exhorted them to listen to his parents and be good. My nephews listened to his every word. What a kind, generous man he was, spreading cheer and goodwill around the world!
This man was so energetic & ever hard working yet none of us would imagine how he'd suddenly depart this life. It makes no sense & if there is a god only he has the answer, but Davy was the consummate performer & his voice was amazing. He was also down to earth & never lost his sense of humour. No wonder he was loved by so many. He is greatly missed along with his Monkee companions.
I saw his show at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, CA. It was part of their “summer night concert” series. I really enjoyed it. He still had a great voice and presence. I think it was about 2005 or so.
Pretty good show. I noticed how it took Davy's voice a little time to "warm up." Also, those jokes about aging, health and coronaries were a bit spooky, looking back.
Thank you for sharing. Wonderful entertainer! Would love to know the venue, college? Any ideas? I especially like the encore he selected. Have yet to hear it anywhere else on this platform. It is special to him, and it comes across here 1:24:22.
It was at T.F. North High School in Calumet City, IL (where I grew up & went to school 😃). The southeast side of Chicago. (Also home of the Blues Brothers)!!
Hi. I'm the person that filmed this concert back in 2007. Geez, I feel so bad that it made you sick and all. I'm not sure what I should do. Maybe I could run the video through a filter to reduce the camera movement. I should just pull the offending video down off of TH-cam and save other people from feeling ill. Might I suggest trying a dramamine or two should you decide to watch it again? In the future, the next time Davy Jones comes to town in concert, I'll bring a tripod, or I'll hire a professional videographer to capture a video. Hopefully that will be acceptable for you.
I think his first wife was a good choice but him being on the road was not good for the marriage from what she said. Men are still immature at that age. Its too bad they hadn't stayed together. The second wife I really don't know anything about but I believe that they were together the longest. The last wife, well...... I saw he and she on Dr. Phil together. I can't say I know details about their courtship either. I think that he was THE biggest teen idol ever and still performing is something that impressed her. He was still handsome. Maybe attaching herself to his bandwagon was going to help her career somehow. But from what I understand, his estate was pretty broke. All of his money went in caring for his horses. My thoughts have been that maybe she was the human breadwinner and Davy was the ,'haywinner'. Plus he was probably lonely. But I am not impressed by anything that I saw about her. Why did she get him on Dr. Phil? To humiliate him in public? He could have done better in the opinion of all of his fans. We can never change the past.......At least he had children and grandchildren to bring him happiness. And his horses!!!!!!!
@@bethelle9099 I think he second wife didn't want to live in the states were his career was so even though they may have been married the longest I think they spent most of that time apart which isn't great for a marriage.
@@Sunnygirl-hx5wr , Very true. He will always be very special to his fans. It's a shame his children and grandchildren and even his horses have to live without him. Very sad, indeed!
@@bethelle9099 I believe the family is very appreciative of his fans, eventhough David spent so much time away from them working; his fans, Monkees' fans have in his memory, in big and small ways, contributed to the continuation of his passion, horses in general, his beloved herd specifically - the David Jones Equine Memorial Foundation. Like the Monkees, DJEMF exists because fans still appreciate, still care about the Manchester Cowboy, David "Davy" T. Jones.

I've never seen a performer love to entertain his audience like Davy did.He is deeply missed.

I'm pretty sure the stage was set up at the back of a building and we were all standing in a parking lot, watching. I don't recall the exact location.
