Cant you just shift your button layout one column so that the ring finger is on the far right. Therefor you can use the index finger for the buttons one the far left?
You're not dumb for not using pinky for parry. I have the same issue where my pinky just feels weaker and less responsive so I tend to parry manually instead. I would suggest doing an update video in a few months when everything is ingrained in muscle memory and give us your updated thoughts.
Piano player here- if you don’t use a finger that finger gets weak. Food for thought. (Of course, this to say you should use it because then it’ll get strong.)
The jump button placement on the Punk Workshop leverlesses is why I didn't buy any of them, it's too much to the left which forces your thumb to curl in. I use a Haute42 R16 and an Overdrive Neo, both of which have similar button sizing to the OG HitBox layout (30mm jump, 24mm everything else). I've experimented a lot with button assignments, but the most comfy one I've found is to put parry on the extra thumb button, keep DI on the default L1/LB, and the 3kick macro on L2/LT for Ed's command dash (works for Akuma and Ken too).
Thumb parry was a game changer for me. I still use pinky for DI though. Also, I only use the thumb for parry, I don't use the macro for drive rush or DR cancels but manually press mp + mk which I guess is a bit weird. No throw macro either. I use a 16 button Haute42.

I think my optimal would be the regular 8, then an extra on each thumb, an extra to the right and an extra above lp and lk. But that's after obsessing over it lol, I am not saying it makes a big difference, or a difference at all most of the time. I use the big buttons on thumb for parry and pinky for di.
I have this problem with Giefs OD lariat as an anti air. I use a basic madkatz fight stick with the 4 top and 4 bottom buttons with the parry at the last spot on the right on the bottom. Sanwa convex buttons are so damn sensitive that when I go for the lariat, I will often slightly drag my pinky over the parry macro and almost always take a combo or a grab. Not sure what to do with it, maybe replace the convex with a concave button so it's a little harder to accidentally press? I don't have the money to buy an entire new fight stick.
So do you just not use the far right buttons on the kitsune? What about moving all of the buttons over and having the macros on the left 2 attack buttons?
I use a haute42 s16 and I also set that bottom extra button to parry. however the top button is far out of reach IMO. I'm currently building a custom 3d printed controller and I'm Gunna move that top button to above the mediums aka slightly to the right
@Brian_F Why did you stop using the OG hitbox you have on the ground in the background there? Have you considered getting one of their add-on buttons, the "Combo Extension" double button thing and trying that out?
That combo where he does the OD crackshoot on cammy around 18:25, how tight is that timing? I know power dunk works on frame 4 and cr.mp works on frame 5 of the power charge cancel window. Does the followup in the video have a specific frame or does it have a generous window? I'll hit the lab tomorrow but if someone sees this before then feel free to let me know. Or call me dumb I know its a goofy thing to ask in the comments.
To get the DR st.mp followup, you *have* to cancel on the 4th frame. To get DR cr.mp, you have to cancel on the 4th or 5th frame. To get DR st.lk, you have to cancel on the 4th, 5th, or 6th frame.
I just preorder the hitbox ultra but I use the haute42 since it dropped. It had extra buttons on both sides of the jump button. Might want to check it out
You’ve been making the game way harder for yourself. I have a right thumb parry macro and drive impact under my right pinky at all times. I’m also using a split layout, way more comfortable than standard leverless layout imo.(I do not use right thumb for jump)
If you want to still u😂se the Kitsune, what do you think of moving all normals to the right, then mapping your usual lp/lk to di/ parry? Would the jump cancels be more difficult with all the normals further from the jump button?
The only thing about all button fightsticks that i hate is that they look ugly. The standard hitbox layout isn't too bad, but as the product evolves and people add more buttons and features, they just look more and more ugly. I know the ugliness of your controller doesn't matter at all as long as it works for you, but it's just a personal gripe i have.
I play on kitsune layout and from the moment I realized I'm not good at activating buttons with my pinky (week 2 of the game) I changed my layout to DI-LP-MP-HP Pa-LK-MK-HK and y activate with my index, my right thumb is only for SOCD tricks and for me this is the perfect layout with no need of extra buttons

That's what I do but it definitely takes some getting used to especially if you play other SF games with the same controller
That's what I do too. Pinky is weak, I don't use it for anything.
You should try a Haute42 M16+ it's essentially the Kitsune with the extra buttons
I use a haute42 s16 and I also set that bottom extra button to parry.
however the top button is far out of reach IMO. I'm currently building a custom 3d printed controller and I'm Gunna move that top button to above the mediums aka slightly to the right
What are good lever versions with extra buttons? I know Punk workshop makes one. Trying to find more options.
@Brian_F Why did you stop using the OG hitbox you have on the ground in the background there? Have you considered getting one of their add-on buttons, the "Combo Extension" double button thing and trying that out?
It's not ps5 compatible without an adapter. That was the initial reason I started branching out
@@Brian_F Can't you make it compatible with an add-on board?
@@Patinho7590 Oh hell yeah thanks, I hadn't gone online yet and its cool to know this information beforehand.
PLEASE TRY THE VITRIX KO. It’s just like the razer but with extra buttons. I just got mine in and switch my parry to the same location
Do you use your pinky on your fretting hand?
I play on kitsune layout and from the moment I realized I'm not good at activating buttons with my pinky (week 2 of the game) I changed my layout to
DI-LP-MP-HP
Pa-LK-MK-HK and y activate with my index, my right thumb is only for SOCD tricks and for me this is the perfect layout with no need of extra buttons
This is the layout I use, but I always have right hand thumb on parry and use it since I began playing. I jump with my left thumb
With a parry macro Brian_F might just be able to stand a chance again a turned-up Roy
I'm looking at the Mayflash F500 Flat to get into the leverless game.
Soundtrack please?! 😅 was enjoying the music too much. Sounds like Marvel vs Capcom 2 for some but wasn’t sure if there was something else mixed in there.
man, I want to try mouse switch buttons, but my leverless of choice can't support them. I gotta go to locals and find someone who already has em for the free trial
very informative video Mr. F thank you
Are most leverless player Left thumb jump? I am right thumb jump. I purposely unlearned left thumb jump.
Brian try the may flash f500 flat I think u might like it more
Song at 16:10 ?
Gotta thank JonyFraze for putting parry at the thumb. 4TW Gang!
what finger(s) does brine use for light kick and throw?
foot pedals for parry and di?
Losing left pinky parry right pinky di when switching from keyboard to leverless made me so much worse at reacting to di but better with perfect parry.
I can't believe I randomly found this video got uploaded 0 seconds ago. I love controller videos in general, so this was an immediate click. ♥
Can’t believe Brian Fuentes doesn’t use his pinky for parry 🤦♂️ smh
I use the two right side buttons for DI and Parry macros but I never use my pinky I use the anular instead.
You are correct the PS5 pad is kinda OP for the reason you mentioned. I personally make the middle touch pad my parry, idk if people know that’s a button. My left hand covers DI at all times and is in charge of movement, right hand presses all the buttons
Youre actually insane if you think pad is on the same level as a controller with sodc capabilities.
@@nubesock5231 You can do those shortcuts on pad.
I played C.Viper in sf4 on stick and I switched to pad for sf6. This game has much easier execution and a bunch of input shortcuts anyway
Thanks 🎉
imo Special moves in fighting games is so 1990s that shit got to go. Imagine having to do special moves to throw a grenade in COD it’s ludicrous
3:20 you know broski doesn't use any macros on his pad. He's just like that lol
I also use the pinkie for parry.
Wait so
Fight game players -> We should have complex inputs.
Also fight game players -> Just use Macros to input the move?
you should try the new victrix pro KO
what song at 9:04 please🙏
Clock Tower Stage - MvC2
Brian just press the last two buttons with your ring finger
I hate the the ps5 pad has a trigger for di, but to unlearn the button mapping is too much of a sacrifice
Brian_pad flexing with stickless
Are foot pedals legal?
I remapped my 8 button stick I use the left buttons for parry and di, hit them with my thumb or forefinger
Total noob here but just curious, are those controllers with "macros" and extra buttons accepted on competitions? Or are they made for strict online use?
Oh nevermind its answered already on the top comment
