You'd have been much better off attaching the ceramic tile to the steel using contact cement and then coating the entire thing with rubberized bed liner type coating which would lessen the shrapnel effect of the ceramic as well as lessen spalling of the rounds at impact and covering it will thick duct tape wouldnt hurt anything while smoothing out sharp corners and edges and helping to contain shards a little...

So basically “because your car is not a Ferrari it cannot drive you to work”? Yeah, military uses fancy ceramics but the simple physics are a hard layer that shatters or flattens the projectile and then a soft/strong layer that catches the dispersed force. Floor tiles at Lowes are designed to be very hard and durable....but best to have that second layer to catch the debris. Watch some field tests people before spouting ignorance.

Ceramic can mean any kind of polymer with hard material within an amorphous lattice, would be interesting to see if spinning diamond armor could deflect bullets

Armor will be required but as for who's doing the shooting, it will be your neighbor who's trying to get your preps because they were dumb shit and didn't see the signs but I build my own armor as well. I use ceramic floor mat from the gym that I found and liquid nails from the caulking gun so it's thick weighs about 5 lbs each but they def stop pistol cal

The soldier that aims head in the range traning gets no meal till the next day and takes a very early morning watch since its coldest part of the night.
Sorry but its aim and spray to the tune of 30- 50k rounds spent for every kill by US soldiers.. Head shots are for under 300m smaller caliber sniper shots, body mass shots hit by heavier rounds up to 1.5 miles is doable amd just the air pressure in front of the round will cause the target to explode let alone the rounds impact and subsequent shockwave. . save your head shot theory for assasination shots which in reality rarely are head shots.. 99% of people won't be wearing body armor of any type except Leos and US military and some of the more hardcore prep types who never leave home without it .. I carry mine nearby but never wear it just keep it at hand no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing.. Prepare for the worst while hoping for the best...
