    Watching this guy teach, I feel like I've been robbed of my mathematical dream in life for not having this guy teach me back in 2005. I had to take pre-calc twice because the teacher would explain soooo basically how to get to that number I didn't pick up on how the concept truly works. Thankyou Eddie Woo, I may be getting back into math because of you.

    Earlier this evening, before I started to watch this log series, I got a basic understanding of what they are and then tried to discover some truths about it. For example, I discovered by myself how to add logarithms. Doing things like this can improve your math skills. Try doing it, it's fun and a good mental challenge.

    3:45 0's in logs are not allowed for obvious reasons. You can't divide by zero and not only that but there is no number either in the base or exponent that would give you zero in the logarithmic function.

    • @OSussannah
      @OSussannah 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before calculators, every huge multiplication or division had to be done by hand and it would take forever. As it's much easier to add or subtract numbers, these calculations were much easier to do in log form.......as shown in his video, multiplication or division just involves adding or subtracting the logs.
      There were log books full of lists of numbers with their corresponding log value....usually to base 10. You could then look up the number, convert it to log form, do your calculations and then convert the log back into number format by finding it in the lists.
      At school we had log books and also slide rules.....but that's another topic!
      I still have my old log book.....

    • @JustAlex96
      @JustAlex96 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The natural definition of Euler's number e is exp(1) = 1/0! + 1/1! + 1/2! ...
      In general it goes exp(x) = (x^0)/0! + (x^1)/1! + (x^2)/2! ...
