Amazing reminds me of when I had my first drive in a 3.5tonne horsebox I felt awesome afterwards, thank you for sharing the numbers bit out with the weight of everything obviously I’ll check with a weigh bridge when I start my new job in January xx
Definitely video your first solo trip driving Woody for us! In the US I haven't seen many horse vans that look as neat and compact as this one--seems a lot less intimidating than trying to hook up a truck to a trailer with a ball hitch.
Absolutely. The idea of driving a trailer terrifies me. I think the UK government are currently thinking of scrapping the trailer test, so that will be an interesting development - i think they are much harder to drive.
In Australia you can drive up 4500kg gvm on a car licence. My daydream future truck is going to be about 7000kg gvm and require a light rigid truck licence. It will carry two big horses and tow a caravan.
Great content Rhi, very informative. Hugh seemed a genuine gentleman and certainly put my mind at ease watching the video. I have never driven any type of horsebox but I should think the more outings and travel a person does more confident you become 😃 Can't wait to watch yours and Woody's first adventure ❤
Rhi! Thank you, this was great! But it ended early? What was your wrap up? Are you going to venture out? And my biggest question, driving with horses, do you need to allow more space between vehicles? What other safety driving tips? I’m always worried someone would cut me off and I brake and the horse falls down....it must be different with a horse on board? Did Hugh give you any tips?
Hey Matt! Yes, I mentioned at the very end that the next step is taking Woody out by myself ... exciting ! Hugh's main tips were: - no sharp breaking - allow more space for cornering / turning into gateways (e.g. swing out slightly further than you would in a car to turn a right angle into a gate - watch your height and width on/under bridges etc - don't be afraid to pull in and let cars go by Perhaps I can do a refresh of all of these when I do my video taking Woody out ! Thanks for your feedback

Thank you! Me too❤️ I'm just trying to decide where to go currently based on routes and low pressure scenarios haha

I felt very lucky that I got to go out with someone for my first attempt and I agree I think the more you do the better it gets !
You did great well done 😍
Thank you!
Well done, Rhi! This is something that I never had the confidence to try. I'm too much of a scaredy cat, I'm afraid.
This video will be amazing for me to watch as im hoping to get a horse soon😁
Hiii! It must’ve felt so great but nerve wracking to drive a horse box for the first time!
Literally soooo nerve wracking 🤣🤣

and now i’m looking at 3.5 ton horse boxes 🙃😭
Haha! I defo can't afford to buy one but I feel great knowing I can hire now
Do we need a separate license to transport the horse itself? Sorry I am a little bit confused 😅
No, all of the license restrictions are based on weight / size of vehicle.
@@RidingWithRhi ah that makes much more sense!! Thank you so much merry Christmas to you, woody woodpecker and the yard 🙂
The average human usually weighs more than that id say
