as a state fan, we haven't really won anything since the '80s. ACC championship and Final Four this year was definitely not expected and everyone is kind of in the twilight zone. One thing is for certain though, every single game they played the overwhelming story was, "yeah they have almost no chance to win" and I felt the same way to be honest. Each time they have proved everyone wrong and not by small amounts but often by 10 points a game with only fleeting moments of being out of control. Even this game I'm 90% sure Edey is gonna handle it and that'll be it for us. But State is playing really good team ball. The scouting report will point to Burns as the threat but literally anybody on the State roster is absolutely a threat on any given night. Guys that haven't done anything all season have been having career high games and they have been beating teams in ways that are impossible to scout. Idk. Anything could happen. I'm happy with the Final Four and conference championship and I expect Edey to handle us, but I also wont be surprised if State finds a way to win because they have just been pulling off the improbable on the daily. From what I've understood from this video, both schools probably "deserve" to win about equally given our respective histories. No matter which way it goes, both schools can be proud to have made the Final Four this year which is no small feat. Hoping for some good basketball this weekend!
Very well said, I (Justin) am a Nebraska fan, as a fan of the worst D1 basketball team ever, I would have been happy with 1 tourney win, shit I was happy to be there! lol So I know you have to be through the roof to still be watching them at this point. I definitely like this matchup for Edey but I doubt it will be Burns guarding him. I could see Diarra behind Edey and Burns fronting him. If NC State plays that way I could see Gillis coming in quickly and Purdue go to a 4 guard + Edey. If Burns is able to get his spins up on Edey it might require double from a guard or bringing in TKR. Should be a good chess match but I think Edey on the boards could be a huge factor as it was in Tennessee. I just don't see how NC State can't go with size to slow Edey and help on the glass. I imagine DIarra and Middlebrook will be in much of the game so Purdue needs to knock down the 3's If NC State wins I'll definitely pull for them but Purdue is my team. UConn has been talking alot of trash. Would love somebody to take the belt from them.
Maybe Burns turnaround hits 1 or 2 but I think Edey will block his shot. Edey is about 7 inches taller and roughly the same weight. I've got Purdue winning it all. I put the bet in months ago. I almost went UConn instead. At that time, UConn was climbing the standings and about 7. Purdue was ranked 3 or 4.
Surprised most that I see have Purdue with a near double digit win. Have you been watching NC State. They beat Duke twice, UNC, & Marquette and they controlled each of those games. Near double digit wins in all of them.
You're not wrong, I'm just moreso seeing that happen at the end of the game where it's within a couple of possessions and fouling down the stretch, but I don't think it'll be one where they put it away until the very end. Wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong at all though
Edey vs. Burns is the storyline everyone loves, but the game is going to be won or lost with the other players on the court. I have watched every state game this year, and not once have we relied on DJ Burns to win the game even though he occasionally goes off and is great to watch. DJ Horn, Mohammad Diarra, and Ben Middlebrooks are the ones who will win or lose it for state. Dont follow Purdue enough to know if they have an answer.
I think it’s funny how hyped the Big12 was this year as the best conference with 9 ranked teams and people saying 10 teams should make the dance and that they are the only power 5 conference without final four representation

It is a Big Ten Show, we had a Purdue representative on the show, of course we're going to ask about a potential title match-up while he's on the show discussing a final 4 match-up. Don't take everything so personal 🤷♂️

The one other legit big that burns faced in the tournament held him to 7, and Marquette missed every open 3. Purdue by 15.
They didn’t need him to score. Burns has 7 assists. They chose to double him and he made them pay.
