    Because of the vibration of the motor the glass's resonant frequency is causing it to shatter.

    Used the original version of this...mainly used for cutting notches or socket cutouts in 6mm mirror. We used to drill a 6mm hole and cut to that from memory

    The sawblad is set to deep. It is supposed to only cut into the glass about half way, so about 1,5mm if it is 3mm glass

    I know it was three years ago but a couple of things to try are cutting on a scrificial cellotex insulation (PIR insulation board). I find it absorbs the vibration when cutting tiles and supports the off cut which means it's less likely to snap off. The other thing to try is perhaps setting the cut depth less deep.

    I would also suggest a surface that absorbs vibration and is soft, like, someone mentioned before , felt or the neoprene toolbox or cabinet liners, I have had excellent results with those and I like to wrap my entire piece of glass in blue painters tape

    For cutting hard tiles I use my plunge Makita saw and 150mm ultrathin disk for angle grinder, works great for me, got much better cut than tilers with their tile cutter.

    A proper blade would probably help. But this tool is just too weak. I found that a specific blade for glass makes a huge difference. Like the Alpha Vetro. Cuts slow but super clean. You can try that on an angle grinder but use a sponge to keep the blade wet. Or get a wet saw, there are wet saws cheaper than that little thing lol and they work.

    Hi tools and stuff.
    I'm looking to cut hundreds of bottles for a home business project, so far I've only found this tool available in the market in my area/country thats affordable. Is there a way to use this tool to continuously cut precisely every *glass* bottle at the same height?
    Thanks,
    Cliff

    • @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL
      @ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could make up a pretty simple jig to lay the bottles on with a straight edge at the point you want to cut each bottle.

  • @mikeywilcox2501
    @mikeywilcox2501 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You need to set your blades depth, much more shallow, just should barely peek through the other side , you will get much better results, but that's from my personal experience and I am far from being a professional, just been building stuff for 30 plus years

      Every one of them?

    • @overlyattachedbean1050
      @overlyattachedbean1050 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We use 3 things depending on the tile. A snap cutter, a wetsaw or an angle grinder with a diamond blade.

    • @overlyattachedbean1050
      @overlyattachedbean1050 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And we hate being called tilers

    • @wilsonline90
      @wilsonline90 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL I can't speak for more than myself, but yes I use an angle grinder with a diamond blade. And I take the protection out. lol
      It's just a lot easier that way, you can see where the blade hits the tile.
      I also use a hand machine, that's how my boss calls it, it's a manual tile cutter, only do straight cuts though. I use a wet saw and hummmmmm sometimes diamond cup saw and... hummm sometimes even nippers (ear clamp pliers/end cutting pliers) for rough cuts on soft tile. My boss also has a similar saw as the one you have, but 110V (obviously much stronger), and we pretty much only use that for straight cuts on tile floor already set.
      For glass we use specific blades. Like the Alpha Vetro.

      LOL please don't try to cut tempered glass. At least wear all the safety equip you can find because it's going to explode. I have had some success sanding the edges of tempered glass a little. Wouldn't advise tho.
