Aloe Vera is a wonderful source of natural silica. It’s actually the plant richest in silica, grow a small to medium size aloe, I pull a decent size leaf, roll it around a little to bruise it, take a knife and kind of skewer it and then squeeze out about 2-3 tablespoons of fresh aloe into 5 gallons of water. Seems to work really well, trying to track down the numbers on it so I can get those to you in case you’d like them. Great info growmie

You definitely CAN use silica with your feed. Just add the silica first then your nutrients and another added tip, always put your micro BEFORE your grow even though the charts say grow then micro otherwise you can lock out the micro nutrients. I grow in promix and it's considered soiless and real soil with compost etc...like fox farm, already contains silica so you don't really need it but it doesn't hurt. And I would shut the silica off early flower because 1...it is hard to flush out for harvest and 2...your plants will literally fall over if your yields are as heavy as mine. Just my .02 cents with decades of growing experience. I get 20+ oz. in a 4x4 tent with 4 plants topped twice at the 4th node and lst trained, super cropped, lollipopped all with no scrog net. etc...

I understand that there is science behind it but that’s not what’s going to make us better growers, when you have fun doing it, that’s going to give you the drive to want to keep going. At least that’s how it was for me. And you were way older than me. I was only born in 1986. Lol. Cheers man and thank you for not having that attitude that you’re better than everyone else just because you’re older because believe it or not I’ve had some haters trash me only because they think that they are older and know more. @@420scene people do not realize how important good vibes are for your plants. They absorb energy. Just giving them attention and sending love to them can make them better. They have done experiments on playing different kinds if music in the grow room. The plants with death metal did awful. The ones with rock n roll did okay. The ones that had calm.positive music flourished. They have even done experiments where everyday the person would speak to the plants. For one plant the person would just say I love you a few times a day. The next plant they would say I hate you a few times a day. The last one was completely ignored except for watering. There was a clear difference in the results. Plants absorb energy so you are absolutely right good vibes it important.

I don't know much about the topic but I have seen a video that says if you use it as a foliar spray it won't work if you are already applied neem oil or something similar recently. it leaves a coating on your leaves and doesn't allow your plants to uptake the silica. because the neem oil leaves a protective film and then causes the silica to sit on top of the leaves and makes it look like powdery mildew but it's not. Just thought I'd give everyone's a heads up if they want to use it as a foliar spray.

    Resin is made from silica.
In nature plants get lots of silica from sand.

@@shanefowkes7451 Or a layer of sand and (paramagnetic) rocks.
      Supersoil/compost
      loam
      sand and rocks
The loam contains silt and clay that attract/store nutrients, making nutrient deficiencies much rarer.
Also, the sand layer takes up water very quickly, but also dries out very quickly. Which can come in handy with plants that need to dry out or reduce humidity to avoid fungal/bacterial infections.
Nutrients are made available by fungi, which can be fed with a fermentation of sprouted seeds, sugar and water.
And those may be all the nutrients a plant needs.

I use tap water (left out for chlorine to evaporate) so I should already have all the micronutrients required, right? Or is there something else I should specifically be adding?
