Shortcuts like this aren’t good practice since you’re missing a lot of important work, unfortunately teachers on here tend to show you the right way to do it but fall flat on explaining. An important thing about this video is you need to know what a variable or x is when it comes to math. A variable x is an input. For example we know that 40% of 80 is 32. Why? Plug it in for x. 80(0.4) = 32 -> 32=32. When you’re solving for x, you’re essentially figuring out what the input value would be in order to equal your number. 80(?) = 32 -> (?) =32/80 -> (0.4) = 32/80. This is how they got the first part of their simplified version, 32 divided by 80. 80x = 32 -> x = 32/80. In order to fully understand this, let’s say we want to find out how 2 = 1 for some reason. Well we know that’s not true, but how can make an equation true? Let’s add an input variable and call it x. 2x = 1. This is the same as saying 2 * x = 1. She simplified it… she divided both numbers by 4….32/4 = 8. Then 80/4=20… then simplify 8 over 20 by dividing both numbers by 2…. 8/2 = 4 then do 20/2=10 …. Leaves you with 4 over 10…. 4X10=40
Both numbers have 8 as a factor or to state it another way both are divisible by 8. 8 goes into 32 four times and 8 goes into 80 ten times, therefore 32/80 becomes 4/10 or .4 which is 40%. Note that you could have reduced it further to 2/5 but since we tend to think in multiples of 10 no further advantage is gained by doing so and 4/10 is easier to convert to decimals and percentage than 2/5 for most people.

ALOT OF PEOPLE KEEP COMPLAINING HOW DIFFICULT GED EXAMS BECAME EVERYDAY ,MORE EXPECALLY THE MATH ASPECT, GET MR BEN INVOLVED IN YOUR EXAMS AND THANK ME LATER . GOOD LUCK GUYS.
To simplify this is the easier explanation To find out what percentage 32 is of 80, you divide 32 by 80 and then multiply by 100 to get the percentage. So, (32 ÷ 80) × 100 = 0.4 × 100 = 40. Therefore, 32 is 40% of 80.
You should stay in your lane. Her explanation is way better because it actually explains the logic and process. You'd make an absolutely horrible teacher.
Bro how I do it is that I put it like 32/80 then i try to find 100 because percentage is 100/100, so I divide 80 and 32 by 4 which will be 8/20. Now I just multiply by 5 and there we go, 40/100= 40%
You can set these problems up as 2 fractions equal to each other, then cross.multiy and solve for x. What percentage (x / 100) is (=) 32 of 80 (32/80) X/100 = 32/80, you get 80x = 3200 3200/80 = 40

@@cgedan6819 You need the 100 to multiply the answer, for example : 32 ÷ 80 = .4 or .40 X 100 whatever answer you get you still have to multiply it to a hundred. and you will get the answer
@@cgedan6819 the 100 is only used as a reference in maths. I mean we consider 0 as min and hundred as max value in almost all cases(just look at your battery percentage of your phones or laptop as example). Now consider the answer in this question ie: 4/10 which equals to 0.4 . The reason we multiply this value with hundred is bcz, we need the percentage value to be in between 0 and 100. So if you want the percentage value to be in between 0 and 1 , you need not multiply 0.4 with anything bcz 0.4 itself is the answer as 0.4 lies in between 0 and 1. Now if you want the value to be in between 0 and 10, multiply 0.4 with 10 which equals to 4, and 4 lies in between 0 and 10. We only use 100 for all cases bcz, that's the way we've been doing it for a long time and suddenly changing it would bring a lot of confusion.
You didn’t really explain yourself. You raced through it. If you were trying to explain this to someone who doesn’t know, then you failed. If you wanted to explain to to people who already knew it, then you failed again because people who know this, they wouldn't search for help. Thumbs down.
As a teacher, especially a mathematics teacher; you have to explain yourself properly so that the average learners too can understand.. For this, she didn't explain anything and that's makes it really complicated.
I did 80x and set it equal to 32. After that it’s a simple algebra step. Think about it this way for those who may not get it, 80 × (?) = 32. If you substitute 0.4 (or 40%) for X so 80(0.4) = 32 you’ll get the equation to be equal with 32=32. Essentially your unknown is how to equal 80% to 32%. Therefore you put your variable on 80 and solve for that variable x to get the answer. 80x = 32 x = 32/80 or 0.4
To find the percentage, we can use the following formula: (Part / Whole) * 100% In this case, the part is 32 and the whole is 80. (32 / 80) * 100% = 0.4 * 100% = 40% Therefore, 32 is 40% of 80. The answer is c. 40%. The best explanation
As 6th grader I just immediately divide it and then just times the left overs. Example: (80÷8)×(32÷8)=10×4 equal 40 it's wrong because I can't randomly just make a percent appear so yeah
📌100% of a no is the no itself. So, 100% =80 10% = 8 ?%=32 We know 8*4=32 So, do the same on other side 10*4=40, is the answer. Or we know 100%=80 50%= 40 10%= 8 50-10=40-8 40%=32
How about this one? 10% of 80 = 8 to get to 32, you have to multiply that 10% of 8 X 4 = 32… ergo 40%. All in my head. Using 10% as a starting point can often reach an answer sooner.
Simple You take 32 multiply by 100% divided by 80 That the Zero in 80 will council one zero on 100 you then take now 32 divided by 8 will give you 4 you then now take 4 multiply by 10 that will give you 40%
I would set up an equation with 32/80 = x/100. Solving this equation gives us 80x = 32 * 100, which means x = 3200/80 = 40. This is the most intuitive way to see that the ratios need to be the same.
Nope. Convert the interrogative statement into a number statement: What percentage of 80 is 32? x% * 80 = 32 Since this is a percentage problem, we lay out our info in a proportion: 32 % ---- = ----- 80 100 Then cross multiply and divide to solve for x: 32 * 100 / 80 = x 3,200 / 80 = x 40 = x
I give you this BASIC Here's how to calculate the percentage: 1. Set up a proportion: - x / 100 = 32 / 80 2. Cross-multiply: - 80 * x = 32 * 100 3. Solve for x: - 80 * x = 3200 - x = 3200 / 80 - x = 40 Therefore, 32 is 40% of 80.
Thank you so much for this video... But... Its little hard to us to understand somethins like why you stop simplify with 4/10 instead of 2/5..... and you didn't say that the number what we gain that is multiple by the 100 we get the percentage ( 2/5 *100 = 40) but how you will put the four is converted into the 40, which is not explained in this video... What % of 80 is 32?
Ans:- what means we consider as 'X'. So,
X% of 80 = 32
X/100 * 80 = 32
X=100/80*32=40
Omg that was so easy! Where have you been my entire academic life ? ! I have been intimidated by math all my life !
Very helpful, thnkq, full support bro❤
To simplify this is the easier explanation
To find out what percentage 32 is of 80, you divide 32 by 80 and then multiply by 100 to get the percentage.
So, (32 ÷ 80) × 100 = 0.4 × 100 = 40.
Therefore, 32 is 40% of 80.
You should stay in your lane. Her explanation is way better because it actually explains the logic and process. You'd make an absolutely horrible teacher.
That’s simple easy math will work every time for a question like this
32 divided by 8 equals 4 so 40 % is the answer.
Thxx for explaining how u get the answer
Way more clearer
yah that works too XD but basically 8 is 10%, and 32 is made up of 4 times of 8s, therefore by linearity 4 time of that 10% (8s) is 40%.
80 means half of them
So even 40+40 is 80

Bro how I do it is that I put it like 32/80 then i try to find 100 because percentage is 100/100, so I divide 80 and 32 by 4 which will be 8/20. Now I just multiply by 5 and there we go, 40/100= 40%

Very helpful class
You can set these problems up as 2 fractions equal to each other, then cross.multiy and solve for x.
What percentage (x / 100) is (=) 32 of 80 (32/80)
X/100 = 32/80, you get 80x = 3200
3200/80 = 40
Yes, you can add a zero and multiply or take away and existing zero and divide then add the zero back -8/32=4 add zero from 80 =40%
Simpler... 1% of 80 is 0.8 so divide 0.8 into 32... there's your percentage for 80 which equals 40%
I like your way better, I did not understand her way, She didn't give me where she go the 40% , if the other numbers to choose which would be closest to.

10% от 80 = 8 => 40% от 80 = 8*4 => 40% от 80 =32, понятно?
In India 🇮🇳we used to calculate it much easier( not complicated like this) we simply solve this 32/80 × 100 = 40% 😊
Where did you get the 100 ??
@@cgedan6819 You need the 100 to multiply the answer, for example : 32 ÷ 80 = .4 or .40 X 100 whatever answer you get you still have to multiply it to a hundred. and you will get the answer
@@cgedan6819Just remember % =1/100
Wonderfully done ❤
So, how did you come put with the 4 n the 10? Elaborate more, please
32÷80×100=40%👍

Stop. It’s in my brain instantly, I don’t need to think about it.
You didn’t really explain yourself. You raced through it. If you were trying to explain this to someone who doesn’t know, then you failed. If you wanted to explain to to people who already knew it, then you failed again because people who know this, they wouldn't search for help. Thumbs down.
Ikr She didn't even explain how she simplified 32/80
Sorry explanation is too short. Useless
Well said 👏
What is the largest common denominator of both =8 divide 80 =10 divide 32 = 4 4/10 =40%
As a teacher, especially a mathematics teacher; you have to explain yourself properly so that the average learners too can understand..
For this, she didn't explain anything and that's makes it really complicated.
Percent is different from percentage. ..Rate is percent...😅
Base is 80
Percentage is 32
Percent or Rate is 40%
All you have to do. Is multiply the number together and move back 2 decimal points and you have your answer. Works everytime.
80 x 32 = 2560, ???
32/.8=. 4 or 40%
I did 80x and set it equal to 32.
80x = 32
x = 32/80 or 0.4
To find the percentage, we can use the following formula:
(Part / Whole) * 100%
In this case, the part is 32 and the whole is 80.
(32 / 80) * 100% = 0.4 * 100% = 40%
Therefore, 32 is 40% of 80.
The answer is c. 40%.
The best explanation
32/80=0.4*100%=40%

This Will Help US to think well😊
Why not use parentheses
32/80 =.4 x 100= 40
As 6th grader I just immediately divide it and then just times the left overs. Example: (80÷8)×(32÷8)=10×4 equal 40 it's wrong because I can't randomly just make a percent appear so yeah
It's faster but it's wrong
This just made my head hurt 🤕😞
32/80=4*100=40%
Wheres the number 4 come from?
Just left that out. Why teach math if your gonna skip key information
th-cam.com/users/shortsa4iK7aT69Zg?feature=share
So ughh my logic tells me: 40 is 50% and 32is 8less which is 10% so 50%-10%=40%
Helped a lot! Thank you
I got the answer in my mind in like 3 seconds 😂
📌100% of a no is the no itself. So,
100% =80
10% = 8
?%=32
We know 8*4=32
So, do the same on other side 10*4=40, is the answer.
Or we know 100%=80
50%= 40
10%= 8
50-10=40-8
40%=32
This is how I did it. 🎉
The % sign is just a shorthand notation for division by 100. So the answer is 40 and _not_ 40% which is 100 times smaller than the actual value.
Problem is how to get 40% to divide 32 into 80 you end up 0 .2 with 16 over 32. which would have given me.0.2
The last digit of 80 is 0 therefore any number multiplied by 80 have the unit digit of 0
You don't even need to calculate anything, since it is multiple choice, you can just immediately see that it looks like the most accurate answer is C.
This was very helpful
32/80*100%=40%
I just did process of elimination. 32 is a little less than half of 80, and I figured 45 was too big. So 40
That works!
What if it was 41.3 or something do elimination million times?😂😂
@@ketanghungralekar3352 It's a multiple choice question, and 40 was the most reasonable answer
32 percent that's the answer
How about this one?
10% of 80 = 8
to get to 32, you have to multiply that 10% of 8 X 4 = 32…
ergo 40%.
All in my head.
Using 10% as a starting point can often reach an answer sooner.
Simple
You take
32 multiply by 100% divided by 80
That the Zero in 80 will council one zero on 100 you then take now 32 divided by 8 will give you 4 you then now take 4 multiply by 10 that will give you 40%
I think is the (OF) is the base the rate has a symbol (%) the (IS) is the percentage??
X over100 = 32 over 80. Cross multiply and divide. 80x=3200. X = 40. 40 over 100 = 40%. Thanks, Mr. Gail Quimby my Algebra teacher way back in 1977.

U realize what u did is more complex?
32÷80=0,4
You take % this at 100 We then multiply 0,4×100= 40
40
Just divided 32 by 80. Thanks calculator
Hmm
I would set up an equation with 32/80 = x/100. Solving this equation gives us 80x = 32 * 100, which means x = 3200/80 = 40. This is the most intuitive way to see that the ratios need to be the same.
The explanation made it more complicated
But If It says “Is 32” then the answer Is 32…
Nope.
Convert the interrogative statement into a number statement:
What percentage of 80 is 32?
x% * 80 = 32
Since this is a percentage problem, we lay out our info in a proportion:
32 %
---- = -----
80 100
Then cross multiply and divide to solve for x:
32 * 100 / 80 = x
3,200 / 80 = x
40 = x
Care about your handwriting, madam, and follow simple methods.
Amr maths channel ache chaile dekhe aste paro
40%
th-cam.com/users/shortsa4iK7aT69Zg?feature=share
I give you this BASIC
Here's how to calculate the percentage:
1. Set up a proportion:
- x / 100 = 32 / 80
2. Cross-multiply:
- 80 * x = 32 * 100
3. Solve for x:
- 80 * x = 3200
- x = 3200 / 80
- x = 40
Therefore, 32 is 40% of 80.
