It's just one way to get to the answer. basically the person just did it long way for formula x=32/80 equal to 40 percent. the person went one step more by making the fraction smaller. not to difficult to comprehend but still which ever is easier for the person to find the answer then just go with it.
Just take your calculator and type 32 over 80, press answer you'll get 2 over 5. Then just multiply 2 over 5 by 100 (don't put the % sign into the calculator) you'll get 40, simple.
@@mathvibe 32/80 = 0.4, move the decimal point twice to the right, we get 40%. You made a 5th/6th grade problem into an 8th grade problem. There was no point in throwing algebra in this.

@@thepistolguy859 Good luck to you! I got my GED a few years back and remember how confusing math was. I want to explain why they say it the “hard way”. There’s a lot of comments saying there’s a simple way to do it such as 32/80 * 100. Which is true and it does work. They aren’t however explaining why this works and they’re missing the important details about it. Shortcuts like this aren’t good practice since you’re missing a lot of important work, unfortunately teachers on here tend to show you the right way to do it but fall flat on explaining. An important thing about this video is you need to know what a variable or x is when it comes to math. A variable x is an input. For example we know that 40% of 80 is 32. Why? Plug it in for x. 80(0.4) = 32 -> 32=32. When you’re solving for x, you’re essentially figuring out what the input value would be in order to equal your number. 80(?) = 32 -> (?) =32/80 -> (0.4) = 32/80. This is how they got the first part of their simplified version, 32 divided by 80. 80x = 32 -> x = 32/80. In order to fully understand this, let’s say we want to find out how 2 = 1 for some reason. Well we know that’s not true, but how can make an equation true? Let’s add an input variable and call it x. 2x = 1. This is the same as saying 2 * x = 1. In algebra we need to isolate the variable to solve. So, we need to divide both sides of the equation to get x by itself. 2x/2 = 1/2 -> x = 1/2. Now let’s verify if we did it right. Substitute the answer for x. 2(1/2) = 1 -> 1 = 1 ✅ Here’s a fun thought experiment. If I had a 7 mm string, how many times larger would it have to be in order for me to have a 32mm string? She simplified it… she divided both numbers by 4….32/4 = 8. Then 80/4=20… then simplify 8 over 20 by dividing both numbers by 2…. 8/2 = 4 then do 20/2=10 …. Leaves you with 4 over 10…. 4X10=40
Both numbers have 8 as a factor or to state it another way both are divisible by 8. 8 goes into 32 four times and 8 goes into 80 ten times, therefore 32/80 becomes 4/10 or .4 which is 40%. Note that you could have reduced it further to 2/5 but since we tend to think in multiples of 10 no further advantage is gained by doing so and 4/10 is easier to convert to decimals and percentage than 2/5 for most people.

@@tusk242это правило пропорции. В математике можно по-своему делать. Вот пример, похожий на подход автора комментария 10% от 80 = 8 => 40% от 80 = 8*4 => 40% от 80 =32, понятно?
Or you can go: 50% of 80 is 40 (easy to calculate), we're still above 32, so we need to reduce the percentage - let's calculate what 5% of 80 is, since the multiple choice answers list 45% as the highest answer below 50%, so 5% of 80 is obviously 4 (since 50% of 80 is 40, or also because 8x5/10 = 40/10), so now we have 40-4=36: 36 is still not the correct answer that we are looking for (32), so let's go 5% lower, basically subtract 4 again(from 36), oh we reach 32 here! Therefore the answer is 40% (because 50%-5%-5%=40%)
How about this one? 10% of 80 = 8 to get to 32, you have to multiply that 10% of 8 X 4 = 32… ergo 40%. All in my head. Using 10% as a starting point can often reach an answer sooner.
Once you are doing % that’s has options just pick them one bye one 24*80/100, then keep on trying it till you get the right option, if you try this process it will take all your time
32/80 in its simplest form is 2/5, which is also 4/10. 4/10 = 40%. % is a number divided by 100. Another way to do this is: is/of (32/80) = x/100 then cross multiply
Sometimes looking at the answer choices helps dramatically. If we multiply 80 x 0.40 or 40% which is an answer choice we get 32. I love process of elimination. Removing unreasonable answers. 😊
When doing it in your head, 10% is 8, and i know that 8 goes into 32, four times. 10% four times =40%. Makes it easy to do when you don't have a phone or paper.
You can set these problems up as 2 fractions equal to each other, then cross.multiy and solve for x. What percentage (x / 100) is (=) 32 of 80 (32/80) X/100 = 32/80, you get 80x = 3200 3200/80 = 40
Nope. Convert the interrogative statement into a number statement: What percentage of 80 is 32? x% * 80 = 32 Since this is a percentage problem, we lay out our info in a proportion: 32 % ---- = ----- 80 100 Then cross multiply and divide to solve for x: 32 * 100 / 80 = x 3,200 / 80 = x 40 = x
To find the percentage of one number in relation to another, you can use the formula: (Percentage / 100) * Number = Value In this case, we want to find the percentage of 32 in relation to 80. Let's assign the unknown percentage as "x": (x / 100) * 80 = 32 To solve for "x", we can divide both sides of the equation by 80: (x / 100) = 32 / 80 Simplifying the right side gives: (x / 100) = 0.4 To isolate "x", we can multiply both sides of the equation by 100: x = 0.4 * 100 x = 40 Therefore, the percentage of 80 that is equal to 32 is 40%. So, the correct answer is c. 40%.
I kinda solve that in my head. 50% is 40. So you narrow it down to c or d. You already can tell 8 go into 32, 4 times. Carry the zero to 4, which will make it 40 and the answer will be 40%
Easy way to do it iz, 10% of any number is the number divided by 10, so 80/10 = 8, now just skip count up, so u get 8, 16 and then 32 8 = 10% 16= 20% 32= 40% U can see the percentage and numbers are just doubling
@@randomguy6467 In a situation like that your best choice would be to estimate. If you are given extremely close numbers, then this method would indeed be flawed, but it's definitely something to go off of, especially if u are given a multiple of 10 as u stated.
@@randomguy6467 or u could just be like, half of 10% is 5% so half of 8 is 4, so 5%= 4 2.5% = 2 Something like that would defo make any approximation more precise, so now u can just keep adding 2.5%(2) until u get something close to the desirable value
Simple You take 32 multiply by 100% divided by 80 That the Zero in 80 will council one zero on 100 you then take now 32 divided by 8 will give you 4 you then now take 4 multiply by 10 that will give you 40%
I would set up an equation with 32/80 = x/100. Solving this equation gives us 80x = 32 * 100, which means x = 3200/80 = 40. This is the most intuitive way to see that the ratios need to be the same.

The % sign is just a shorthand notation for division by 100. So the answer is 40 and _not_ 40% which is 100 times smaller than the actual value.
Problem is how to get 40% to divide 32 into 80 you end up 0 .2 with 16 over 32. which would have given me.0.2
40 percent from obvious multiplication of 8×4=32.

When doing it in your head, 10% is 8, and i know that 8 goes into 32, four times. 10% four times =40%. Makes it easy to do when you don't have a phone or paper.
To find the percentage of 32 out of 80, you can use the following formula:(32 / 80) * 100 = 40%Therefore, 32 is 40% of 80.
You can set these problems up as 2 fractions equal to each other, then cross.multiy and solve for x.
What percentage (x / 100) is (=) 32 of 80 (32/80)
X/100 = 32/80, you get 80x = 3200
3200/80 = 40
Yes, you can add a zero and multiply or take away and existing zero and divide then add the zero back -8/32=4 add zero from 80 =40%
The last digit of 80 is 0 therefore any number multiplied by 80 have the unit digit of 0
good explain
32 would be 32% of 100 so the only answer smaller than that. Lol
32/80=0.4*100%=40%

This Will Help US to think well😊
But If It says “Is 32” then the answer Is 32…
Nope.
Convert the interrogative statement into a number statement:
What percentage of 80 is 32?
x% * 80 = 32
Since this is a percentage problem, we lay out our info in a proportion:
32 %
---- = -----
80 100
Then cross multiply and divide to solve for x:
32 * 100 / 80 = x
3,200 / 80 = x
40 = x
Omg that was so easy! Where have you been my entire academic life ? ! I have been intimidated by math all my life !
I just thought 40 is 50 Procent and 8 is 10% and because 32 is 8 less Than 40(50%),it means it has to be 40% :)
X over100 = 32 over 80. Cross multiply and divide. 80x=3200. X = 40. 40 over 100 = 40%. Thanks, Mr. Gail Quimby my Algebra teacher way back in 1977.

U realize what u did is more complex?
To find the percentage of one number in relation to another, you can use the formula:
(Percentage / 100) * Number = Value
In this case, we want to find the percentage of 32 in relation to 80. Let's assign the unknown percentage as "x":
(x / 100) * 80 = 32
To solve for "x", we can divide both sides of the equation by 80:
(x / 100) = 32 / 80
Simplifying the right side gives:
(x / 100) = 0.4
To isolate "x", we can multiply both sides of the equation by 100:
x = 0.4 * 100
x = 40
Therefore, the percentage of 80 that is equal to 32 is 40%.
So, the correct answer is c. 40%.
I kinda solve that in my head. 50% is 40. So you narrow it down to c or d. You already can tell 8 go into 32, 4 times. Carry the zero to 4, which will make it 40 and the answer will be 40%
I did it in my head.
Take that, society!
Can I borrow your head for Saturday 😂?
I just did process of elimination. 32 is a little less than half of 80, and I figured 45 was too big. So 40
That works!
What if it was 41.3 or something do elimination million times?😂😂
@@ketanghungralekar3352 It's a multiple choice question, and 40 was the most reasonable answer
32 percent that's the answer
Easy way to do it iz, 10% of any number is the number divided by 10, so 80/10 = 8, now just skip count up, so u get 8, 16 and then 32
8 = 10%
16= 20%
32= 40%
U can see the percentage and numbers are just doubling
Only works if its a multiplication of 10, if the percentage is 42% your f'd
@@randomguy6467 In a situation like that your best choice would be to estimate. If you are given extremely close numbers, then this method would indeed be flawed, but it's definitely something to go off of, especially if u are given a multiple of 10 as u stated.
@@randomguy6467 or u could just be like, half of 10% is 5% so half of 8 is 4, so
5%= 4
2.5% = 2
Something like that would defo make any approximation more precise, so now u can just keep adding 2.5%(2) until u get something close to the desirable value
@@Kuro-cp7nh u can do 1% of it so u can get it 100% right no matter what
@@randomguy6467 True that lol
Lets do it this way
Let the percentage required be x/100
Then, According to question
(X/100)×80=32
X= (32×100)/80
X= 40%
Idk if this is easier but what i did was take 50%(40) then take 10%(8) then subtract, 40%(32)
40%

Just divided 32 by 80. Thanks calculator
Hmm
Simple
You take
32 multiply by 100% divided by 80
That the Zero in 80 will council one zero on 100 you then take now 32 divided by 8 will give you 4 you then now take 4 multiply by 10 that will give you 40%
Using your equation makes me easy thank you great idea
Happy to help
Got a problem with conversation of percentage which is 100, for a moment I was stuck at 0.4 which you get by dividing 32/80
Care about your handwriting, madam, and follow simple methods.

This is a great way as well. Ty
I would set up an equation with 32/80 = x/100. Solving this equation gives us 80x = 32 * 100, which means x = 3200/80 = 40. This is the most intuitive way to see that the ratios need to be the same.
