      He is so much less cringe than all the young millennials who look like plastic alien supermodels, and have the most expensive cameras that cost $10,000 and then they don't tell you that they are using a $10,000 cinema camera, and they do extensive editing and color correction. He just films stuff straight out of the camera and does a lot of his stuff with basic lighting control, and good lens selection. And he explains it so much better than the millenials. I watched 100 videos before finding Markus and now I am finally learning.

    I've won awards at film fests using clamp lights. I used two with those MASSIVE work-light CFLs you could get at Home Depot, and my kicker was two regular bulbs in a socket splitter. I was (still am actually) using some mid-range DSLRs for most of my shooting and their lowlight performance leaves a lot to be desired, so I opted for the slightly more expensive bulbs. Still use all three of those fixtures (Upgraded the bulbs to smart RGB/WW/CW so I can switch temperatures and use creative color in one fixture, just brought two of them to a commercial shoot last month. Believe it or not the ones from Costco I got don't flicker at 240fps, and they were relatively inexpensive IIRC. I tape diffusers on the front or use them as bounce lights. They fit anywhere and you can hand them off and know they won't get broken, and even if they do it's cheaper to just buy a new one than to fix it!
    I've had the opportunity to spend money on better lights but it hasn't even crossed my mind to get "better" lighting lol

      I really find him to be one of the best teachers on TH-cam. There are so many channels, and they spend all their time reviewing equipment, and never talk about the camera techniques, it's really frustrating. I mean, the lighting is far more important than the equipment. Bad lighting ruins the whole image, even with an expensive camera.

    I used similar clamp lights in the 80s. I painted the outside yellow and the inside white so people would not know they were so cheap. I used them all over Los Angeles (Hollywood) including the screen testing I did for Orion productions and even John Milius. They work and I used them because they were easy, not because I had too. Truthfully, I still do. To put in in perspective, my uncle (George Larson) is the guy that invented the soft box and reflectors we all use and I have lots of those I got for free. If stuff works, and it’s easy, then use it!

    Hi Markus, for the AD200 I recommend the AD-S17 diffuser, something like $15, it gives excellent results, I originally bought it as I was asked to take pictures of a shop interior for a client of mine, then realised how useful and convenient it can be for shooting on location with models, either as a fill lights or even main lights; very low power and close to the subject and it mimics a soft box or high power from a few meters away and it becomes an overcast day diffused light.....

    Thanks for making another great video! As we have access to a wide range of gears these days, it makes me think we still can't skip one thing, carrying cases. If some company can make inexpensive customization or invent some kind of system to satisfy different needs, especially for travelers, that would save a lot headaches and waste.

    • @zhenyucai
      @zhenyucai 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MarkusPix Yeah, camera bags are very customizable these days. The headache I referred to was when you add light stands, diffusers and lights. Same as in the video you shared, I am not a big fan of backpacks, rolling cases either and I have the same idea of leaving most equipment in the hotel, and stroll with a camera bag, a nano light stand and one tube light. So I'm already looking at a carrying case or two to hopefully pack a couple of light stands, a few compact lights, and a small camera bag to the location, and then find a way to carry the camera bag, a nano light stand and one light when wandering around. This is lightest option I can think of, but very first headache I had was no suitable bags for a 19" nano light stand, not to mention with an extra pouch to store a couple of lights. Maybe this is just me. If there are such needs from enthusiastic photographers, how difficult is it to fulfil these needs... sometimes it could be just an extra divider.

      Don't be overwhelmed by options. All cameras can be full auto. Then when you feel comfortable, move one notch to P mode and adjust exposure up or down a notch or two if you want, or change the white balance etc. One step at a time. No need to keep changing cameras every time you learn something

      @@MarkusPix For this channel I’m in the water a lot so that’s my GoPro, the other two channels I’ll keep working the the Sony. Thanks again and you guys make the world a little more round.
