When I was a kid we had a hammer mill that worked similar to that except it was driven by a wide, long belt from a wide pulley off the side of an H Farmall.
Cab holds another 4 or 5 bushel. Just having a little fun, our cab seems to get corn on it by at least by the second or third day too. Nice to see we all feed the wildlife from time to time. Good luck with your harvest. We are rained out here in central Ohio. Tired of switching back and forth from corn to soybeans.
Yeah Bruh! How many people can operate a $500,000 combine on head rows while simultaneously operating a drone and narrating a TH-cam video? I'm still trying to figure out how to change the clock in my Suburban, after daylight savings time. I keep showing up an hour early. LOL.
I like the white barn in the background. Your videos are very informative. I used to travel from Michigan through Canada then on interstate 90 through New York, you live in some very beautiful country .
Maybe the Zach in Minnesota should get a tarp, would solve the cab corn problem. Here you are cleaning corn and running a drone at the same time so You don’t have to get out of the cab to check for loss, impressive. That’s a seasoned operators move right there.
When I worked on the farm with feedlot cattle, we ran high moisture corn at about 30% through a roller mill, just wanted every kernel cracked at least, then packed in the bunker pits.
Multi tasking Andy! You're not the only one that can, I often walk and talk at the same time 🤗 seriously I'm impressed. More good F F& F content. Hope the weather holds for ya🤞 keep em coming catch the next.
Curious to why you are hammering corn and dropping into the bunk? Never seen or heard of it done here in Indiana. We only have 2 dairies left in our county. I've ground alot of feed in a Gehl pto pull behind grinder for hogs and cattle. Changing screens for baby pigs to sows to fat hogs. Even pulled the screens out and free hammered ear corn for fat cattle.
I'm wondering why you dont mount the corn head to the chopper and not have the combine. Use the kernel processor in the chopper instead of the roller mill. Is it because the corn has less plant material in it this way?
Is the kernel of corn run through the hammer mill to make a feed product? If so, why not harvest the corn as silage and run it through the kernel processor on the chopper? Very interested in the different processes and the reason for each of them. I enjoy the videos very much!
The reason why they are grinding the corn kernel instead of just shopping the whole plant is because it makes a balanced diet for the cow. For example feeding a cow just corn silage is like to us eating only salad and feeding a cow only ground corn is like to us eating only meat and potatoes, it not a balanced diet.
Have you ever tried putting a Deere corn head on your 8700I chopper to do high moisture corn? Ive seen a few farms here in Lancaster Pa do that with their Claas choppers with a Case IH corn head on it. I’m not sure what’s all involved with that setup.
Does the tarp prevent cab corn. I see Zach Johnson had a bad cab corn incident just going down a hill with real dry corn running over the front of the bin.
What determine the height you cut? Sometimes I see low and high stubble just curious. Bringing my daughter back to school tomorrow at Cortland is that near you?
I live in St Augustine FL. This week we had our first cool day where it only reached 75 degrees F. I wasn't thinking and I saw you all bundled up in flannel and sweatshirt. My mind said what is wrong with him? Does he like to boil himself? Then my logic kicked in and said, that's NY and it's mid October. It's starting to get cold up there. Then I had to laugh at myself seeing my dual personality in operation.
Combines smaller and older but it works probably paid for you know settings and its quirks could spend 1.5 million on x9 with 16 row head get done a little faster but than need big grain cart bigger tractor on grain cart and more trucks hauling. Just my 2 cents. New and shiny doesn't mean less down time guy rents my fields is farming over 600 acres is using an early 90s massey combine with over 6000 hours last heard but replaces whats bad every winter and has less than what payments on newer 1 would be and isn't broke down anymore than a lot of these youtubers with newer low hour combines
Hello Henry Wilson here. I imagine that tarpaulin is to keep it dry, witch seems sensible to me. I'm not being sarcastic but some people ask some silly questions.
I would never try combining and running a drone at the same time unless it was GPS. My dumb ass would get in trouble with the drone and crash the combine but save the drone from a hard landing.
when yer running the drone while driving equip like that does it keep you busy as a 1 legged man in a ass kicking contest or more like a fiddler with the crabs ? asking for a friend
GREAT VIDEO ANDY I DIDN'T KNOW THAT'S HOW THEY CRUSH THE CORN WELL EXPLAINED THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR VIDEO 👍🇺🇸 P. S. I TELL YOU EVERY TIME I LOOK 👀AT YOUR VIDEOS I LEARNED SOMETHING THANKS. 👍🚜
Ok dumb question because I don't know any better. Why not put an adapter on the chopper for your corn head instead of picking it with the combine and grinding it?
The chopper doesn’t have the ability to throw out all the cobs and leaves etc. They are trying to just harvest the kernels that are the highest quality feed.
Andy how do you keep the high moisture corn from spoiling in the bunk silo? My friend has a harvester that leaks a little and there’s spoilage in that!
I noticed that you in the beginning of the video or the first 5 minutes it appeared that you were operating your drone. When you hit a power line with a drone visit does it just crash or does it catch on fire and then crash? Also, do you ever process your corn fodder and use it around the farm or sell it? That One Lonely Farmer guy appears to be meddling in some sort of corn and then processing his corn fodder and selling it to I guess the same mushroom barns he sells his grass to. I don't know what type of Revenue could be generated, but might be something to consider in your spare time
Do you normally fill your bunk with ground corn ? Or are you doing that because you are out of room in your stave silos ? When we still milked we had the hammer mill and blower set right up to our two 80 foot Star silos. Never seen a silo bunk filled with it I am guessing you push and pack it just like silage and cover it with plastic and tires ?
lol subject you get a see throw trap can not see the corn killing myself laugh of thinking about it we try to look for one to we use them here to has snowed here yea we closed the top and will finish up that way to Wednesday we started to chop the strew up to can not bale wet strew we had all of it baled before it snowed too
Man I wished I lived closer to yoyu I do some drone shots for ya. Do you even bother with the follow me mode. I tried it with a tractor and round baler and didnt have much luck.
Been a farmer all my life and never knew how a hammer mill worked. Thanks Andy. See you at the the next one.
Great video! I never seen one work before, like the way you explain the workings, hopefully the weather holds for you.
When I was a kid we had a hammer mill that worked similar to that except it was driven by a wide, long belt from a wide pulley off the side of an H Farmall.
Wow talk about multitasking operating a drone and driving the combine I am impressed
Running the drone and combine at same time. Wow. Looks like a great crop
Great video Andy good luck combining your corn 🌽

I never used to make many adjustments initially until everything got real shiny, corn is surprisingly abrasive, but always enjoyed harvesting it.
I was thinking that tarp was going to severely reduce our chances to see some cab corn...glad you did not disappoint us. :p
Good set up. No muckin around. Thank you for sharing boss.
The farm across road from my church has an old jd 4420 combine he built a roof on his tank with corrugated metal.
Great video Andy gotta love harvest
Andy awesome Drone footage. Great vid as always keep them coming, seeya at the next one. Be safe!!
I plugged one of those mills up one time trying to push it through to fast, its not easy digging it out lol
Cold weather has hit, corn operation looks fun..
Nice in the past we've used a hammer mill. Works really well
Looking good, Andy. Interesting video. Clean cobs coming out the back!
I can barely walk and chew gum at the same time! Here you are flying a drone and opening head lands!!
ok IT nerds we need a drone that is intergraded with the GPS of the vehicle it is filming, get on it make it happen and make it cheap too.
Just told the wife the same thing.
Yeah Bruh! How many people can operate a $500,000 combine on head rows while simultaneously operating a drone and narrating a TH-cam video? I'm still trying to figure out how to change the clock in my Suburban, after daylight savings time. I keep showing up an hour early. LOL.

Thanks for your videos.
thanks for the video andy good luck with the weather
Tarp looks good on the combine
I like the white barn in the background. Your videos are very informative. I used to travel from Michigan through Canada then on interstate 90 through New York, you live in some very beautiful country .
Thanks
Have you ever thought of putting a landing pad on your combine because that would be great.
810 acres.nice little jag to work through!!👍👌
Maybe time to make some cornbread. Lol. May have to rinse the grind but the cobs add a chewy texture. Nice video. Thank you
Great video Andy 👍🏻

Hammer down
I hope you do more shelling corn videos then you did chopping corn. Thought you backed off some on videos.. thx for the video!!
Those things r awesome my boss rents one with a bager on the back they really grind corn
Yep, smart dude makes it look easy!! # and a tight and right crew to back you is key,. Hats off to the help!
good sized hammer mill box..3x maybe 4x the size of the New Holland 355 we had..great vid
It runs faster than I thought it would
Nice drone video thanks Andy 🌽🚜👍
When I worked on the farm with feedlot cattle, we ran high moisture corn at about 30% through a roller mill, just wanted every kernel cracked at least, then packed in the bunker pits.
Hope to finish corn tomorrow high moisture is not high anymore running low 20% in Michigan
I’m maybe 25 miles west of Andy and all of our corn is down to 17%-21%
Multi tasking Andy! You're not the only one that can, I often walk and talk at the same time 🤗 seriously I'm impressed. More good F F& F content. Hope the weather holds for ya🤞 keep em coming catch the next.
They say there are no such things as dumb questions, but the tarp on the combine seems pretty much like common sense
Thank you
I was wondering are we gonna see more videos I do like watching your farm and would definitely like more videos of combing and other stuff you do
Yes
Wildlife will clean up the leftovers in the field.good looking outfit.
Big difference from our Ghiel belt drive, the old 'B' and a shovel.

The art of multi-tasking!
Excellent video well done top job top team awesome thanks y'all be safe out there
I like your videos keep it up
By jingles I guess it does a ton a minute
I am surprised you don't run an eight row on your combine
That sample looks a lot cleaner than some of the other grain farmers on TH-cam
Maybe they need an older combine
That's looks like a good grinder think you have get the cheque book out andy
you got very good at multi tasking
I'm wondering why you dont mount the corn head to the chopper and not have the combine. Use the kernel processor in the chopper instead of the roller mill. Is it because the corn has less plant material in it this way?

Wow! Jared is really your Minnie me! Lol!!!!
He could pass for your older brother. LoL!
Andy droning while driving
great drone footage!!!!
Did the crop circles get consumed by the chopper or you saving it for the combine
Doing it tomorrow
@@FarmingFixingFabricating those crop circles looked fablulous , the aliens obviously have there heads screwed on right

No we haven't
Hi Andy what do like chopping corn or combine corn when combining , corn do you bale the rest up for cow bedding
We don't bale any
Does the tarp prevent cab corn. I see Zach Johnson had a bad cab corn incident just going down a hill with real dry corn running over the front of the bin.
Zack was feeding the deer
It helps a little but not much
Do you guys ever bale up corn stalks? How much longer are you guys going to run that combine?
We don't bale corn stalks. Going to run it until the paint falls off.
Do you think the alfalfa will survive the winter with it getting a late start ?
Probably not
@@FarmingFixingFabricating That stinks the seed is expensive plus the labor.
I like the multy tasking
Those screens looked nice and easy to change. I was wondering if it took more time per tonne to process with the smaller screen?
Yes slightly
What determine the height you cut? Sometimes I see low and high stubble just curious. Bringing my daughter back to school tomorrow at Cortland is that near you?
We are about 30 miles north of cortland
What's up with Deere not selling these tarps ? Or do they ? How much ?
They don't sell them
I live in St Augustine FL. This week we had our first cool day where it only reached 75 degrees F. I wasn't thinking and I saw you all bundled up in flannel and sweatshirt. My mind said what is wrong with him? Does he like to boil himself?

Does your drone record sound Andy or are you adding the sound in afterwards
I record sound as I'm flying the drone

Keep up the good work like your videos
Andy, how do you keep ahead on weather condition’s to help keep your business working along with Mother Nature. 🤔🤔🤔
We schedule all weather events
@@FarmingFixingFabricating yeah so do we. If we want it to rain we just mow hay.
@@FarmingFixingFabricating lmao
How many cows do you milk on a daily bases ?????? You go through a lot of cow feed...
We milk all of them 3 times a day
Good luck with the weather! We've had a dusting of snow in some places in northern WI.
Andy do you bail your corn stalks or do you have use for them. Seems some one would have use for them as bedding
No we don't
Hey Andy. Do you have a cousin named ron down here in Missouri? He said he was i work with him at the charcoal plant. Just wondering
Not that I know of
Ok just wondering
He's originally from utica area
@@FarmingFixingFabricating lol🤣
I would love to do this for a living.

It's pretty easy
Andy how do you think one would get along no tilling with 1 Mohawk closing wheel per row and one rubber?
You'll make it ok but I would prefer 2
Looks like you’re getting the cold wet Fall weather...
Hello from iowa
Hello
Have you tried prop corn (proponic acid) to help dry/store the corn?
No
Dude that’s some serious volume that mill is pumping out. More impressive is the lack of dust made by said mill. Was it running a ton per minute?
Yes

Doesn't seem to
Why are you using the hammer mill rather than the roller mill?.
It's just what there was
Cows gonna eat it or snort it.
Does the tarp prevent cab corn?
Only slightly
A tarp on a combined is real smart maybe the millennial farmer needs to look into it it's slow the cab corn down
Yes but only a little
Does it take that much horsepower to run that mill?
Couple hundred

Mavic air 2
