@@DummyRound Tipton cleaning rod tips come as a set may need to file done the ends to make flat mine have pionts for cleaning patches to spear through.
I knew it was coming since I loaded those the night before, just wasn't exactly sure which one it was. Could have gone worst in a semi auto. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week👍🇺🇲
That's a good idea. Luckily, I shoot in my backyard and had access to the cleaning rod. Otherwise, it would have been the end of that range trip. Thanks for the tip👍🇺🇲
Meh, just a channel warning right now. Another one in 90 days will be a strike. I'll just have to dual stream the ceiling from my phone on YT and have twitch to actually show what's happening.
@@jbp6759 your guess is as good as anybody else, but the one thing I do know is that the rules for livestreams are way more strict. I'd guess some idiot who came across the stream decided that there was enough information going on for someone to know how to make the rounds dummy was making. I'd *LOVE* to challenge that idiot to make rounds based off that very livestream alone. I guarantee they couldn't. It was a hang out live to chat while he made some ammo for the next range outing. Nothing more or less.
I had one in a semi auto and it wouldn't let the following round chamber, thankfully. A second one in a revolver that acted like a cap gun. And now this new one that I was anticipating because I caught it while loading and set those rounds aside. Thanks and have a great week!
I have had this happen twice. Once with a 44 mag and the second with subsonic 308. The 44 mag was a pop when there should have been a boom. The 308 was was a bit different, I didn't see impact on the berm. When I unlocked the bolt the case auto ejected because of the residual pressure. Experience is your best friend in these situations. Someone who isn't familiar with it may have just racked another round.
Wow, I'd never heard of the case ejecting like that due to the pressure stored in the chamber/down the barrel, but it makes sense. Did your 44 get locked up, or you just knew not to fire the next one?
Believe it or not. I have had only two squibs in the 40 years I have been reloading, I guess that becomes a "Must Check Powder" in your process after it happens once or twice. - Dave
Oh no did you get a Mossberg??!! DR. I had that rifle it was in 223/556 I had so many issues with the magazine and cycling that thing. I got rid of it and picked up a Ruger.
Long story short, I got it in a trade. There are no real issues yet. It seems to be breaking in nicely. I would have picked the Ruger, but I'm not dissatisfied with the MVP as of yet. I do really hate that you can't close the bolt on an empty mag. The glass on it has got to go, though 👍🇺🇲 Thanks!
@@DummyRound I really wasn’t to keen on loading to magazines length the whole purpose in getting a bolt gun is to be able to customize coal. I’m sure it’s a bit different with 300 black. But with 223/556 is was a bad combo lots of jams if you didn’t run the bolt a specific way at a specific speed. And if you didn’t you would end up with double feeds. And that flipper design on the bolt would create soooo much trouble stripping the cartridge off the mag. Just a really silly and bad design in the bolt. Again it’s probably not as bad in the 300 black because the ojive on the 300 is much more forgiving.
It's not amazing, by any means. But, it is kind of fun to play around with. If I had a can, it would actually make sense 😆 It's just a range toy I might eventually make a hunting load for. Casting makes it super cheap to shoot all day. But the bolt is annoying and sometimes doesn't feed correctly. That seems to be breaking itself in, however. I'll probably get 350L in a bolt action next since it doesn't work very well in an AR, and eventually swap a new barrel in the 350L upper to something new or just another 556 or 300blk. Maybe 6.5 Grendel or 6 ARC? I want to do 6x45, that has some pretty crazy ballistics. Just a necked up 223 case to 6mm. Basically 6 ARC before 6 ARC and I can use my existing brass and bolt head. Getting rambly now. Have a great weekend 👍🇺🇲
You say you caught it when reloading. Just what did you catch, and how did you catch it? What was your reloading process? Is there a video of you making the ammunition where you say that you caught the issue?
It was during this stream th-cam.com/users/liveekNXdI4a80s?si=PVjW9fCzEROs-S-O I indexed my 550 once too many times and noticed one had no primer and was leaking powder, which means one didn't get powder and one didn't get crimped. There were only a few rounds in the catch tray, so I knew it would be mixed in that batch somewhere. I put those in a bag together and knew what to expect at the range. Used a bolt action so I don't send one behind the squib during rapid fire in an AR.
@@DummyRound Watching the video, and I would have to say this is definitely why all the books say not to be distracted when reloading. You be trying to make a video while reading and answer others and reloading all at the same time. Things going wrong left and right as one would expect. No way to blame the equipment.
@thetexasrat that is why I said that exact same thing after it happened. And before. Manually dumping the powder was confusing my small monkey brain, adding to the distraction of following the chat and everything else. Not recommended.
@@DummyRound I saw the part where you where basically saying do not do anything I have done here at all. At first I was wondering if it could have been the equipment's fault, but after watching the video I saw there was nothing wrong with your set-up. And I agree with you %100.
A solid tip for the cleaning rod would help . Glad to see you back online sharing your experiences with the world.
Probably a dumb question, who makes a solid end cap for cleaning rods? Thanks and thanks!
@@DummyRound Tipton cleaning rod tips come as a set may need to file done the ends to make flat mine have pionts for cleaning patches to spear through.
@tacticalrabbit308 Ah! Yeah, I have the set of jags. I guess I could just use one I don't actually need as long as it fits the diameter. Thanks!
Wow! Thanks for sharing this experience. Glad you got that out of the barrel. Good to see you again.

I keep dowel rod in my range bag in case this happens. Get one a bit smaller than your bore and it's perfect.
That's a good idea. Luckily, I shoot in my backyard and had access to the cleaning rod. Otherwise, it would have been the end of that range trip. Thanks for the tip👍🇺🇲
@DummyRound Nice! A back yard range is the best. It was the end of my range trip both times it happened to me. 😆
Hey! There he is. I'm hoping like hell that nothingburger of stream nonsense was cleared up. Either way, glad to see you back.

Wait, are you not allowed to show reloading on TH-cam now or something?

That is correct
I’ve had two now. Glad I caught them and nothing bad happened. Mine were in semi auto’s so it could have been ugly.

You can shake em and listen for powder
It was a compressed load so nothing was moving, even if it had powder 😧
@@DummyRound Ah, duh! I should have guessed
All good 👍

Drama on the range👍 nice catch
I knew it was in there somewhere.... Thanks for stopping by!
"ain't got no gas it in" ... Been there a few times. " car ramrod" team.
Not my first and won't be my last🤭
It's strange to not hear the pop from the primer going off ?
Yeah, that was very weird. I've at least heard the primers go off in my other 2 squibs 🤷♂️
Bolt action locked tight sealing up the back end and the bullet sealing the front end makes it quitter than a silencer.
