Kalka Shimla Toy Train Bookings have to be done in advance especially in summer and winter, as large numbers of tourists are pouring in.
Other Hill Railway route :
Total 5 are there. Matheran, Kalka Shimla Railway, Kangara Valley, Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, Nilgiri Mountain Railway.
During Dussehra holidays, Christmas Eve and New Year, there is so much rush, it’s better to book your ticket early. The service is available seven days a week. Toy train advance bookings can be done online

In the year 1997 I traveled this historic route in this Himalayan Queen Toy Train with my parents and elder sister. At that time I was just 5 years old and a foreigner tourist gifted me a packet of Lays. I still have those golden memories with me. Thanks for sharing this video.

Dolesh! Thank you very much for taking me to my birthplace Simla through your video. I was born in Simla in 1942 and although I was a kid but remember the snowfall, the scenic views , the flowers. the fruits on trees, and even I still smell the snow if I see the videos of Simla. I got my elementary classes in St. Thomas School, I remember the Christ Church, Grand Hotel, Inverarm, The Mall, the railway stations Jatog, Solon, Barog, en route to Simla which you have very well described and enhanced our knowledge. After partition we settled in Karachi. At that time steam engine were carrying the trains and when it passes the tunnels I used to get pleasure of smoke and the whistling of the engine. It’s 73 years back story which you have very kindly reminded me through your superb video. Although we came here but left my mother’s grave in Baluganj when I was 3 years old she died and that is the source for me to remember Simla for ever.
Finally, I am very much impressed with the painstaking very beautiful work you did and allow me to come closer to Simla once again.
May you succeed in your future ambitions that is I wish for you at this time. Love you ❤️.!!!

I attained my legal bachelor's degree from Shimla, stayed there for good 5-6 years n to drop my girlfriend I used to take this toy train coz, I preferred scenic routes + train rides which are not that common combination and it is an innovation in itself maintained by IRCTC. So, Thankyou for making me relive those moments n It left me teary somehow THANK YOU DOLESH.
