Whenever he's shooting someone on the list he's shooting right-handed, and he was shooting right-handed this whole episode up until the very end, when he shot himself in the right hand to end the possession. The level of detail in this show is insane.

Hey everyone! I mentioned in an earlier episode that I had a complicated ending to my last D&D campaign and didn’t think I’d ever play again. Fast forward to the finale and I’ve now joined a new campaign and am seven episodes into Critical Role Campaign 3. Shoutout to this awesome community for the encouragement and making this reaction series such a lovely experience. ❤️
Yay! Congrats and I understand about having a complicated history with the game. Sometimes the right group of people makes all the difference. It took me 3 tries and multiple years to find a home but now it’s just the absolute highlight of my week to create awesome stories with my favorite group of nerds. Also campaign 3 has been amazing, hope you enjoy!
You mentioned that Percy seems different. One of the things I loved about the episode was the subtle change to the voice work once Orthax is gone. Percy's voice sounds * lighter * I noticed it at first when he laughs a little at Scanlan and says "the demon is gone" (next to the acid), but also every time he speaks after that. I wasn't sure if I was imagining it, and just hearing it because there are also subtle facial animation changes (he has slightly fewer shadows around the eyes, his default expression is less serious, etc) but after a couple of viewings I'm pretty sure it's a deliberate choice on Taliesin Jaffe's part.
Also, y'know what's a Really Long Show? Critical Role :p You already know you like the characters in C1, and then there are 2 more campaigns with NEW characters to immediately fall in love with. (Also any of the other TTRPG shows that exist, there are so many.) Hundreds of hours of chewy, delicious storytelling goodness, with more every single week, for forever. :D Honestly, there's so much good stuff coming out from the different TTRPG tables that I can't keep up. If 4+ hour unedited CR episodes aren't your thing, check out one of the many shows on Dimension 20 (they run about 2 hours each, they edit them to cut a lot of the table talk while keeping all the gameplay) or any of the one-shots and shorter campaigns on youtube made by... a lot of people. (Pirates of Leviathan and Escape from Bloodkeep are both excellent mini-series with a great cast, and CR has a bunch of one-shots, too)
also i want you to know that when the fight with percy's inner demon happened in critical role, taliesin (percy's player/VA) was like 'therapy!! therapy!!!!!!'
the blue dragon was a YOUNG ADULT dragon, the 4 dragons there are ANCIENT dragons its like 4 mma fighters vs a toddler xD (and red is like the strongest color of the dragons)
IMO, in the hands of a good DM, the trickery and intelligence of a Green are way more deadly than the power of a Red. I will leave it at that without saying more!

@@Superdummy803 Oh yeah, generally in D+D the Good versions of things are stronger but fewer in number. Take Demons and Devils the upper Celestials are stronger but far fewer in number. It's why through a Fallen Celestial can become so powerful. Same with dragons heh Reds are the strongest Chroma's
The gun being thrown into the acid actually happened in game, and almost exactly as it happened in the cartoon. What I enjoyed were the things that the cast said HAD to be in the cartoon. "Darling, take of the mask." was one example. Later on in this animated series, I hope Kerrek's letter is another.

Do you remember in episode 2 when they enter the dragon lair, there was a symbol with 5 dragon? Well, since they killed one of them, the other 4 are coming to get an explanation...
Percy put his hand over the barrel, trying to block or throw off the shot. That act, putting himself between Orthax and Delilah, spilling his own blood to save her, was the ultimate expression of him letting go of his hate and desire for revenge. THAT is what drove the demon out.
In episode 2, general Krieg had a carpet with 5 differently colored dragon heads on it. He turned out to be the blue dragon Brimscythe. Then in Brimscythes lair, Keyleth saw a wall with four orbs embedded in it. One turned into a green lizard-like eye, said "intruuudersss.." then the whole wall crumbled. Brimscythe's attack of outlying villages and Krieg's advice to Uriel were designed to get him to send his entire army away from Emon, which would have left it undefeated. Uriel was about to do that when VM slew Brimscythe. The foreshadowing for this dragon attack had already been laid out since nearly the beginning of the show. If Krieg/Brimscythe had succeeded in his plan, they probably would have only needed one of the other dragons to take down Emon. Thanks to VM, they're bringing all four.
Percy broke thier pact temporarily by shooting his dominant hand (his shooting hand), then orthax (the demon) fled into the gun, scanlan then finished breaking the pact by destroying the gun.
If you enjoyed the music I highly suggest watching The Legend of the Music of The Legend of Vox Machina. While they were making the cartoon they decided to do a series introducing many of the different people involved in the show (animators, voice actors, story boarders, etc) and the music was one of them and oh man the guy they got to score is A awesome and B so excited to do it that it brought it to a whole nother level.
So if you ever want to react to an actual game played a the critical role table and don't want to go trough a 100+ episode campaign, please react to EXU Calamity. It's four episodes between 4 and 5.5 hours each, and it's honestly one of the best things I have watched from CR so far.
You should do She-Ra next! A lot of the cast did collaborations on various Critical Role episodes and story arcs! It's a bit lighter but it's amazing! Alec would love it
The thing I adore about this episode is that there are three cliffhangers and all of them are foreshadowed. The Dragons being the "friends" of the Dragon in episode 2. Ripley is still out there and clearly a dangerous person. And finally the spinning orb under Whitestone. All three end up being important and it'll be amazing to see them Animated. I will say I've always had a soft spot for durpy Keyleth. That is in part because I adore her player, Marisha Ray, but also because her character goes through an amazing coming of age story that I really enjoyed. I also love Scanlan but that's more from the campaign and not the animated series (currently). I'm very much looking forward to seeing quite a few scenes animated with him. All I'll say is you're in for a ride with Scanlan's character arc as we hopefully get enough sessions to see the whole campaign animated.
I wanted to take a moment and just mention what a joy it was watching how both thoughtfully you engaged with the story and all its elements but also how caught up in the emotion the two of you would get (often in very different ways!). As for shipping, we can't say too much for spoilers/we will actually start fighting, but with Percy, Vax, Vex, Keyleth and Scanlan canonically Bi/Pan there are a lot of combinations to choose from :D

I’m so curious to see how they handle season 2, because the next major arc was LONG, much longer than the Briarwood arc. It would make more sense to break it across two seasons.

This girl deserves all the cool moments, a ton of rest and the whole world. My favourite characters from VM are Vax (I love the sentimental and caring side of him), Percy (he is not as awful as he thinks he is) and Keyleth, because she is sunshine and morale of the group. But my favourite-favourite character is Cassandra de Rolo. Girl is badass, brave, smart and is one of two people who can destroy Percy with a single word. I love her.

With regards to Orthax's incentive (the demon in Percy), he has the three traits that are practically synonymous with every demon: gluttony for sustenance; insatiable greed of power; a continuous presence with ample supply without massive initial effort. The best method to attain all three with the least effort is by parasitic proxy (the whole "yeah, I want power, but why put in the energy when I can make someone else do it for me" sloth/avarice/gluttony . Something to note is that Percy is a noble of Whitestone and a genius with specialties in science and engineering. It's actually debatable as to who inspired who with regards to creating the List; while Percy believed Orthax inspired him, demons aren't usually known for innovation in engineering. My assumption is that Percy's inspiration was of his own doing and Orthax, seeing an opportunity with an effective new type of weapon, kept that inspiration fresh by constantly having Percy relive his trauma every night, stoking his anger every day, until Percy made the List. Created with Orthax's "help," Orthax gained a minor presence in the material plane of Exandria with almost no effort on his part by infusing himself with the pepperbox. With Percy's anger building and the objects of his vengeance getting closer, Orthax's presence became stronger. If Percy had killed Delilah, Orthax's hold on Percy would have been so strong that Percy would have become an avatar of Orthax. Orthax would have had a lord of notable standing executing those that Percy may have felt slighted him for increasingly trivial insults and a constant source of food as names would constantly be added and crossed from the List, all at the minor cost of keeping a traumatized adolescent in a perpetual state of hatred.
My favorites are Percy and Vax. Percy has such an interesting arch, but also gets primary focus here, so does make it hard to not have him as a fave. A lot of my love for Vax comes from the way Liam deliver his lines
Percy was always my favourite. His dry wit and upper-crust savagery were so much more entertaining to me than Grog's, Scanlan's and Vax's antics. As the party was stripping a duergar general of his equipment, when Percy said "In fact, we'll be taking your weapons, your armour and, I believe, your pride," in episode 5, I loved Percy's character and, from that moment, he only got better.
Oh thank God, more critrole content on my Thursday! The cast is finishing a four episode series this week and I've asked myself WAY too many times Is it Thursday yet? And now the bros help hold me over.

To answer your question about my favourite character in the show, the answer is Grog. First of all, as those familiar with the cartoons of the early 1980’s could probably guess from my user name, I’m fairly partial to barbarian characters. Ever since I started playing D&D way back in Basic Red Box Edition, I would either play a barbarian or if barbarians weren’t available as a PC class then I would play a fighter and give them a barbarian aesthetic (dressed in furs, preferring heavy swords and axes to bows and arrows, etc). Also, I love how Grog is portrayed in the show and in the game. A brutal, tough as nails fighter on the battlefield, but underneath it all he’s a big marshmallow. I also love how Travis totally gets into Grog’s INT score of 6 (mixing up his numbers, mispronouncing words, etc). It’s just a total riot.
Favorite characters from the campaign are Scanlan and Grog for humor (depending upon what type of humor I’m favoring at any given moment), and Vax for drama. We got to see a little bit of the heavy drama Liam can bring in this season, but it gets better as the story progresses. Now, when it comes to the show, much of the favor remains, but I found myself enjoying Keyleth and Pike much more than before. I still love them all, though.
This finale was SO GOOD. I loved all of your reactions, especially since you weren't super sold on it in the beginning. It's been a fun ride, can't wait to see what you guys will react to next!
Hi! I really enjoyed your reaction videos, so thanks for doing them :) My favourite is Percy, also in bits of the story where he doesn't have the spotlight. I think it's interesting that he is kind of a terrible person. Inventing guns so you can take revenge on 5 people isn't the best example of a good, moral choice. But he also knew that when he made the choice, so that makes him more complex. His conversations with Keyleth are one of my favourite parts of the story. Percy is nobility and Keyleth is on a quest to become the leader of her people and they have a lot of different opinions about ruling and morality, but they are still best friends. In episode 4, there already was a small moment, but I hope there will be a few dialogues between them in the next season. (:

hate it when the NPC kill steals. lol This was so good. Kind of makes me think I should get it into Crit roll. Scanlan is probably my favorite character, because he reminds me of when I would play bards to annoy my DM's boyfriend. But Grog and Pike are close runner ups.
In the game everyone was down to execute Delilah as soon as the demon was dealt with, she was too dangerous to risk keeping her alive, Percy actually offered the task to his sister.
I am so looking forward to seeing more of what this series has to offer, and considering there’s A LOT of source material to draw from, I know we won’t be starved for ideas or stuck with filler episodes, this is awesome 😁 My favorite character is honestly probably Scanlan. Part of it is because I looked into the original campaign a little bit after watching the series and I know a little bit of how his character develops from here and I love it (I won’t spoil it, don’t worry), but mostly because, even within the animated series, he just has so much personality packed into his tiny gnome body. That’s not to say the others are necessarily lacking in that department (okay, Vax and Vex are kinda boring imo), but the fact that he _would_ seem like your stereotypical self-absorbed sex fiend - probably one of the most tasteless brands of comic relief normally if you ask me - and yet there’s clearly more to him just really stands out. He’s incredibly resourceful, actually does his best to learn things that might help (e.g., the polymorph scroll, the Briarwoods’ book, and taking note of what looked like a battle plan map in Duke Vedmire’s mansion, not to mention him figuring out what the book actually meant), and despite consistently having come extremely close to dying multiple times, he always does his part and hasn’t seriously considered bailing on the group even once. He knows what he’s good at outside the bedroom and how it would help the team, whether it be as a distraction or as an assist. Added bonuses that make me love him so much include how expressive and exaggerated his animation is (kinda reminds me of my first exposure to Titmouse’s work, _Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart)_ and his crush on Pike is absolutely adorable, I don’t care what y’all say. And I know I said before that I normally consider “self-absorbed sex fiend” to be a tasteless variety of comic relief, but as an asexual person who doesn’t actually *feel* what he says, I already focus more on the rest of him as I already outlined above, so when it _does_ come up, I usually actually do think it’s funny. There’s a certain, intricate and complex relationship/dichotomy between asexuals and sex jokes (and, indeed, sexual activity). You allos wouldn’t understand. And since y’all asked about ships, just from this season I have: -The Briarwoods; -Pike and Grog’s friendship; -Vex/Scanlan; -Vex/Percy; -Vax/Gilmore; -Keyleth/everyone else in the party (minus the bear, obviously); -And the OTP, Scanlan/Pike, shut up they’re fucking cute 💘
Grog is my favorite, he might be a bit on the dim side but he is loyal as hell, and will have your back in a fight; he always says what he means too, no deception with him
Just wanted to say, the demon in Percy isn't the Whispered One, AKA is NOT the entity that Delilah was trying to summon. Percy has had this demon attached to him for a long time.
Vex might be my favorite character. The take off the mask acene was so good, i loved the ost. She's got rough edges, but idk her character really works for me. Though theyre all very good characters, so its hard to choose.
Well done , have really enjoyed your reactions for LoVM and I'm so looking forward to season 2 (which has been confirmed , though no release date yet.). My favorite character in the series is probably Keyleth but in the live Critical Roll episodes would have to be grog and pike.
My favourite characters? Percy, Scanlan and Vex. If pressed for only one I´d say Percy - I even named my newly adopted baby guinea pig after him ^^ I must admit despite watching all of Campaign 1 I didnt start liking Vex more than average until TLOVM, but I always liked Percy and Scanlan. If we include NPCs Gilmore would be in the running too (there are just so many good characters! Its hard to choose).
Amongst the critters relationship ships for Vox Machina cover pretty much everyone. However, for those that have watched or listened to the entire Vox Machina campaign of Critical Role, and especially those that have purchased the Tal'dorei Reborn source book for Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition, know who will die, how many times they died and were brought back, and how relationships turn out... at least till the year 836 P.D.
I just want them to give Sam the credit he deserves in the show. Scanlan is the best character in campaign 1, and Sam is the best player at their table. (They're all great, no hate)

I will say I've always had a soft spot for durpy Keyleth. That is in part because I adore her player, Marisha Ray, but also because her character goes through an amazing coming of age story that I really enjoyed.
I also love Scanlan but that's more from the campaign and not the animated series (currently). I'm very much looking forward to seeing quite a few scenes animated with him. All I'll say is you're in for a ride with Scanlan's character arc as we hopefully get enough sessions to see the whole campaign animated.
I wanted to take a moment and just mention what a joy it was watching how both thoughtfully you engaged with the story and all its elements but also how caught up in the emotion the two of you would get (often in very different ways!). As for shipping, we can't say too much for spoilers/we will actually start fighting, but with Percy, Vax, Vex, Keyleth and Scanlan canonically Bi/Pan there are a lot of combinations to choose from :D

I’m so curious to see how they handle season 2, because the next major arc was LONG, much longer than the Briarwood arc. It would make more sense to break it across two seasons.

My favourite characters from VM are Vax (I love the sentimental and caring side of him), Percy (he is not as awful as he thinks he is) and Keyleth, because she is sunshine and morale of the group. But my favourite-favourite character is Cassandra de Rolo. Girl is badass, brave, smart and is one of two people who can destroy Percy with a single word. I love her.

With regards to Orthax's incentive (the demon in Percy), he has the three traits that are practically synonymous with every demon: gluttony for sustenance; insatiable greed of power; a continuous presence with ample supply without massive initial effort. The best method to attain all three with the least effort is by parasitic proxy (the whole "yeah, I want power, but why put in the energy when I can make someone else do it for me" sloth/avarice/gluttony .
Something to note is that Percy is a noble of Whitestone and a genius with specialties in science and engineering. It's actually debatable as to who inspired who with regards to creating the List; while Percy believed Orthax inspired him, demons aren't usually known for innovation in engineering. My assumption is that Percy's inspiration was of his own doing and Orthax, seeing an opportunity with an effective new type of weapon, kept that inspiration fresh by constantly having Percy relive his trauma every night, stoking his anger every day, until Percy made the List. Created with Orthax's "help," Orthax gained a minor presence in the material plane of Exandria with almost no effort on his part by infusing himself with the pepperbox.
With Percy's anger building and the objects of his vengeance getting closer, Orthax's presence became stronger. If Percy had killed Delilah, Orthax's hold on Percy would have been so strong that Percy would have become an avatar of Orthax. Orthax would have had a lord of notable standing executing those that Percy may have felt slighted him for increasingly trivial insults and a constant source of food as names would constantly be added and crossed from the List, all at the minor cost of keeping a traumatized adolescent in a perpetual state of hatred.
My favorites are Percy and Vax. Percy has such an interesting arch, but also gets primary focus here, so does make it hard to not have him as a fave. A lot of my love for Vax comes from the way Liam deliver his lines
Yeah, my faves from each campaigns are always Liam's characters, and I'm starting to think Liam's performance might have something to do with it.
Percy was always my favourite. His dry wit and upper-crust savagery were so much more entertaining to me than Grog's, Scanlan's and Vax's antics. As the party was stripping a duergar general of his equipment, when Percy said "In fact, we'll be taking your weapons, your armour and, I believe, your pride," in episode 5, I loved Percy's character and, from that moment, he only got better.

To answer your question about my favourite character in the show, the answer is Grog. First of all, as those familiar with the cartoons of the early 1980’s could probably guess from my user name, I’m fairly partial to barbarian characters.
Ever since I started playing D&D way back in Basic Red Box Edition, I would either play a barbarian or if barbarians weren’t available as a PC class then I would play a fighter and give them a barbarian aesthetic (dressed in furs, preferring heavy swords and axes to bows and arrows, etc). Also, I love how Grog is portrayed in the show and in the game. A brutal, tough as nails fighter on the battlefield, but underneath it all he’s a big marshmallow. I also love how Travis totally gets into Grog’s INT score of 6 (mixing up his numbers, mispronouncing words, etc). It’s just a total riot.

Favorite characters from the campaign are Scanlan and Grog for humor (depending upon what type of humor I’m favoring at any given moment), and Vax for drama. We got to see a little bit of the heavy drama Liam can bring in this season, but it gets better as the story progresses.
Now, when it comes to the show, much of the favor remains, but I found myself enjoying Keyleth and Pike much more than before. I still love them all, though.

My favourite is Percy, also in bits of the story where he doesn't have the spotlight. I think it's interesting that he is kind of a terrible person. Inventing guns so you can take revenge on 5 people isn't the best example of a good, moral choice. But he also knew that when he made the choice, so that makes him more complex.
His conversations with Keyleth are one of my favourite parts of the story. Percy is nobility and Keyleth is on a quest to become the leader of her people and they have a lot of different opinions about ruling and morality, but they are still best friends. In episode 4, there already was a small moment, but I hope there will be a few dialogues between them in the next season. (:

Scanlan is probably my favorite character, because he reminds me of when I would play bards to annoy my DM's boyfriend. But Grog and Pike are close runner ups.
In the game everyone was down to execute Delilah as soon as the demon was dealt with, she was too dangerous to risk keeping her alive, Percy actually offered the task to his sister.

My favorite character is honestly probably Scanlan. Part of it is because I looked into the original campaign a little bit after watching the series and I know a little bit of how his character develops from here and I love it (I won’t spoil it, don’t worry), but mostly because, even within the animated series, he just has so much personality packed into his tiny gnome body. That’s not to say the others are necessarily lacking in that department (okay, Vax and Vex are kinda boring imo), but the fact that he _would_ seem like your stereotypical self-absorbed sex fiend - probably one of the most tasteless brands of comic relief normally if you ask me - and yet there’s clearly more to him just really stands out. He’s incredibly resourceful, actually does his best to learn things that might help (e.g., the polymorph scroll, the Briarwoods’ book, and taking note of what looked like a battle plan map in Duke Vedmire’s mansion, not to mention him figuring out what the book actually meant), and despite consistently having come extremely close to dying multiple times, he always does his part and hasn’t seriously considered bailing on the group even once. He knows what he’s good at outside the bedroom and how it would help the team, whether it be as a distraction or as an assist.
Added bonuses that make me love him so much include how expressive and exaggerated his animation is (kinda reminds me of my first exposure to Titmouse’s work, _Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart)_ and his crush on Pike is absolutely adorable, I don’t care what y’all say. And I know I said before that I normally consider “self-absorbed sex fiend” to be a tasteless variety of comic relief, but as an asexual person who doesn’t actually *feel* what he says, I already focus more on the rest of him as I already outlined above, so when it _does_ come up, I usually actually do think it’s funny. There’s a certain, intricate and complex relationship/dichotomy between asexuals and sex jokes (and, indeed, sexual activity). You allos wouldn’t understand.
And since y’all asked about ships, just from this season I have:
-The Briarwoods;
-Pike and Grog’s friendship;
-Vex/Scanlan;
-Vex/Percy;
-Vax/Gilmore;
-Keyleth/everyone else in the party (minus the bear, obviously);
-And the OTP, Scanlan/Pike, shut up they’re fucking cute 💘
Grog is my favorite, he might be a bit on the dim side but he is loyal as hell, and will have your back in a fight; he always says what he means too, no deception with him

Just wanted to say, the demon in Percy isn't the Whispered One, AKA is NOT the entity that Delilah was trying to summon. Percy has had this demon attached to him for a long time.

Vex might be my favorite character. The take off the mask acene was so good, i loved the ost. She's got rough edges, but idk her character really works for me. Though theyre all very good characters, so its hard to choose.

If pressed for only one I´d say Percy - I even named my newly adopted baby guinea pig after him ^^ I must admit despite watching all of Campaign 1 I didnt start liking Vex more than average until TLOVM, but I always liked Percy and Scanlan. If we include NPCs Gilmore would be in the running too (there are just so many good characters! Its hard to choose).
