Cathy
I love that quilt, especially the polka dots.
Thank you!
Another flimsy done. Good for you! That's such a pretty quilt and i love those colors!
Thank you! 😊
That’s so pretty Cathy.
@@BeckyMortonWeeks Thank you!
I alao usw wonderfil and love it.
Thank you!
That is a beautiful quilt! I'll have to look it up! I watch Sherri and Chelsea's TH-cam channel, but don't specifically remember seeing this one. Hope you got all of the things done today that you wanted to!
I think this quilt was from several years ago.
@myhobbyhomelife that makes it extra great that you got it finished, then, too! Wahoo!
Oh the pattern was several years ago. I just did the sew along this past year. I've been procrastinating on flipping the 3 rows that were in error but I finally did it and now it is being longarmed. YAY! It is a win either way we look at it.
I use Missouri Star thread with no problems. I watch for the large spools to go on sale then grab a couple gray or silver. One spool will usually do 3 or 4 quilts. Love the quilt!
Thank you!
Quilt top complete….yay! It looks beautiful 😊. I did manage to get a variation of Grandmas scrap quilt started during your sew along, and completed the top a couple of weeks ago. And I do have the backing and batting so I really have no excuse to not get it completed 🤔
Mine is at the longarmers right now. I should have it back in about a week to bind it.
I have been MSQC thread for many years. Love it
@@patricianewman5233 I have some and will be trying it.
Love the quilt. Colors are pretty 😊 be blessed
@@patricianewman5233 Thank you!
Yay!! I wonder if your tension needs adjustment 🧐 just a thought…I just have a regular Singer machine and that usually helps me. Give it a whirl on some scrap fabric, you just never know. But YAY!! It’s a beautiful thing!!😍🥳🌺
I've tried that, too. I think my machine is just very particular about the thread I use.
Aurifil is awesome and lasts long time
My machine doesn't seem to like it. My Brother did fine with it.
I like your big tomato pin cushion. I have a small one that was my mother’s.
@@BeckyMortonWeeks I have a small one too.
Cathy, I've used Missouri Star and Connecting Thread in my Brother machine without problems. Connecting Threads are a much better deal and I really like. Both are 50 weight. I've never used any other weight. Good luck.
@@brendafrye5875 I am hoping my Bernina will like it.
Always a good feeling to get another one done!
One more out of the box is a fabulous feeling.
It's a beautiful quilt ! I hope you find a thread that doesn't break so much. Lots of great suggestions in the comments. Be well Cathy.
Thank you. I will talk with my local Bernina dealer more in depth when I take the machine in for servicing. I do know Mettler does work better but I have only used what came with my machine.
Pretty! I think you said on the live show with Tammy that you use a large needle when you piece your tops, try to go down a size. Mettler is the one Bernina wants you to use. thx.
I went down to an 80/12 tonight and didn't have any breakage. My lqs told me that Mettler is preferred because it doesn't have as much lint. I think someone else also said that.
Try Connecting Threads thread. I love it and have no issue using it on my Bernina 790 plus. I as the one who said my Bernina doesn’t like aurifil. Have tried several times and have given up on aurifil. Connecting Threads thread is just so nice and works great. I’ve always used 50 wt thread and I’ve been quilting 30 yrs.
I've actually had several tell me the same thing about Aurifil. I think it may be due to the amount of lint it puts off. I can't imagine what the inside of my machine looks like.
Cathy, I have just used dove grey aurifil . I would love to help give you a suggestion on another kind. But aurifil is all I know. Sorry. I do know know that Kimberly with the Fat Quarter Shop likes Connecting Threads. She was asked what her favorite thread was during a sew along and she said Connecting Threads. Wish I could do more for you. I will ask around for you . Have a blessed weekend 😊
Dove Aurifil is all I use as well. I have used.some other brands but the Aurifil is my go to.
I use Coats and Clark in my Brother.
I've used that in my Brother and it works well. It didn't work well in the Bernina.
I put a couple of drops of sewers aid on my autopilot. My bernina breaks when the spools level is getting low. It makes a big difference in the breakage.
Auofil vs autopilot. Love autopilot correction
It does do that when it gets low a lot.
Lol yes it gets us at times.
Hi Cathy! I'm finally starting to feel better. I havent sewn for almost two weeks.
Tomorrow will be my first day with no sugar. I'm going to work toward a sugar free diet.
I think sugar is part of what got me so sick and in pain.
Time to nip it in the bud!
Haven't you always used Aurofil thread? That's so weird...maybe the machine needs to be looked at.
How are you doing with your healthy eating program?
Stay strong and sew on! Lol!
@sharonframpton1887 Not so good on my eating journey. I have found cutting one thing at a time and finding a substitute helps. So glad to hear you are feeling better.
I use connecting threads. Very inexpensive and great thread in my opinion.
I've never used connecting threads. I don't think I have ever seen it anywhere.
I use Superior cotton thread.
@@paulacox902 I have some of that and will try it as well.
Threads , some are designed to spool off. While laying. On their sides . Cones are designed to come off upright so Don ‘t use a cone type if you need it to be sideways.
I guess i could try putting the Aurifil on my stand instead of my machine but it is a smaller spool. I wouldn't consider it a cone but worth a try.
I have used Coats & Clark in my BERNINA and it was fine. Good luck!
I don't think I have any more coats and Clark thread but if I do, I will check with my dealer to find a solution to use any thread.
I broke a lot of thread in my machine until I switched threads now I use Aurifil
And Aurifil is the one I have the most trouble with. I know it has more lint and my machine just may not like it.
I use my kitchen table to bear the weight of larger quilts, it allows much more room to manoeuvre all that fabric. I have better success that way!!
Great idea! I may have to try that even though I don't like moving my machine around too much.
Another quilt completed...Yeah!!! In regard to your thread breaking, have you checked the thread for breakage by holding the spool and the thread in your hand and pull to find out how esay it breaks?
@cherylfenoglio7826 I have checked the breakage and it is pretty strong.
I use 50wt Aurifill
@@BeckyMortonWeeks I am going to be checking all the threads I have and make sure it is good.
That thread breakage is super irritating. So sorry you are dealing with that. It’s disheartening to hear that it’s aurifil thread. So many quilters speak so highly of the brand. I think all I’ve ever used is all purpose Coates and Clark thread. 🤷🏻♀️
It is very disheartening. I am going to use what I have and maybe transition to Mettler.
