In today's video, Dad is giving me some pointers about flying before I start my official flight lessons. I am concentrating and I am a bit tired today too! I did smile when we flew into turbulence! There is a lot to learn and Dad has been flying around the farm since he was about 8 years old. I love flying and learning! There is no room for mistakes when you are flying a plane!! This is not a flight simulator it is the real thing with real consequences! Mr. Vicarri, a veteran and incredible pilot nicknamed Dad Maverick Montana!!!! LOL Thank you for watching!!!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am a 17-year-old 4th generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

I enjoyed watching you fly with your Dad, Kate 😊 I got my PPL when I was 47 and wish I had learnt to fly when I was your age. I had a Piper 140 for a couple of years - a great little plane! Learning to fly is hard work but very rewarding. Your Dad is a good teacher and very thorough and patient - and I love his jacket, too! 😂 Keep making videos for us to watch! 🇦🇺

Wow, that takes me back... I took flying lessons back in my younger days . It was in a different model airplane ( Cessna 152 ) ,but watching your dad run through the check list procedures ,had me right there with you . I unfortunately ran out of funds before I could get fully licenced and " life " moved forward and I never got back to it . I hope if you have a passion to fly ,you're able to get lots of experience in your dads planes and carry on to getting certified . Congratulations on the honor of being the youngest recipient of the Fire Award !!!

Thanks for sharing Kate, perhaps the 172 might be better than the complex Comanche starting out. Pushing 2 miles a minute in climb and dealing with throttle, prop, gear and trim is a lot to absorb.
Your dad may seem hard, he’s not, just trying to emphasize many issues you need to be thinking about constantly and staying ahead of the aircraft, especially in the Comanche.
ETA: I see further down in the comments that you are taking PPL lessons. Excellent, your instructor will methodically progress you through training meeting many milestones along the way.

Hello Kate, your Dad is a great teacher, for one thing learning to fly in these older type planes,it prepares grounding for the newer type planes as well, once you get the basics of flying , then you can move on to the newer style planes, ie turbine prop, & new models of Jets with single pilot status & more if you wish, Good on you Kate, I must tell you about a Fine Lady she worked for Beech craft Australia, one Day many years ago, I eldest Brother taken me to a Airfield in our local area, he and some other people were to look at some New Beech Craft aeroplanes which were on demonstration at this airfield, all the older men were taken for a run in the bigger twin beech, but there was a Bonanza single engine turbo charge model, the Pilot was the only Miss Beryl Young, I was only 14 years old , no one of the Male pilots wouldn't take me for a fly around, she was their Boss, well she could see that I was disappointed, she called me over she asked me my name I said Trevor, well Trevor your coming with me for a fly in the new Beech Bonanza, well Miss Beryl sat in front of the Bonanza and said hang on, it was the Greatest experience I had ever had in a light aircraft, what a Pilot she was, I think she was better than any man pilot around then, latter on she left Beech Craft Australia, She became No 1 Pilot for our Premier of the State of Queensland, I haven't ever forgot Miss Beryl, she made my day on that occasion , so Kate keep up the good work, Best Wishes to you Dad & Uncle & Grandpa Regards Trevor.W.Bacelli , Biloela Qld Australia.

Wow driving an 18 wheeler one day, and flying the next. I enjoy watching you. I worked out of Poplar on a beef wheat farm back in the 70's. You will laughter. Our big tractor was a JD 820. Had two combines, a Gleaner A and and F2. Two six wheeled trucks. But the owners made a living.

Great video. I did my instruction and first solo in a Comanche. 35 years later I’m flying a Phenom 300 small business class jet out of Telluride Colorado. I’m teaching my daughter in a Cessna 172. She gets in the right seat of my jet and says it’s a rocket ship and why can’t she just learn to fly that one. Because it’s a rocket ship that’s why. Be safe and my daughter and I love the channel !

I’m glad you went flying with your dad while you’re taking PPL. Become very comfortable in the air with light to moderate turbulences and landing and taxing in cross winds whenever you fly with your dad. As you gain all that experience you’ll gain more confidence in your abilities!!

Kate this warmed my heart you can do it. Ask Dad to take you in the 172. That Comanche is very complex and a handful and confusing for a new pilot. Even as a new Private Pilot I found my first few times checking out in something the the Comanche a little confusing.watch the ground school basic stuff I sent from Sporty's pilot shop. I would say Kate wants to fly! She is now flying everyday with a licensed instructor and getting vary good grades on tests.
I love flying! I am just really tired. I am very lucky because my Dad has been explaining everything since I was little and that makes it easier when I fly with my flight instructor!!! I passed my first written flight exam and I am almost ready to solo. Thank you for your question.

Wow not many kids have an opportunity like that. As tough as tractors or combines are I think what you need to know to fly is alot more intense. Your dad is a smart man and want to put all his knowledge in your head. Someday you will think wow that guy taught me so much and now I know why. Your dad is gonna make you a tough independent person. That is a great thing.

Kate that was really one of your best videos. The concentration of listening to your dad an being sleepy too was totally awesome. Driving a truck is one thing but flying is another. How long has your dad been flying. How did he learn. How about a sit down interview with dad by the fire place. Lol. You have a unique situation coming one day. A career in aviation (commercial pilot) or farm owner. Keepem coming.

Your dad’s comment about wind over water brings back memory of my first ever airplane ride setting in the right seat of an old Norseman on floats. The pilot had flipped the tiller over to me and said just fly straight while I do some paper work. I did fine until we passed from forest to the edge of the big lake where the plane dropped about 100 ft before recovering just as fast. The pilot said he should have warned me of the shore thermal. Scared the daylights out of me. I was 14 years old when that happened. Good luck with formal flight lessons!

Kate you need to get some more sleep😴. Good job on the takeoff. Are you able to hear your dad very well when your in the air ?? The engine noise seems very loud in the video. I know nothing about flying. Trucks, tractors and bulldozers are what I am use to. Your dad is a great teacher and a gold mine of knowledge 👍.
