    I think I read somewhere that the pants Gambino is wearing are actually confederate soldier pants so he’s playing a mentally unstable, erratic white character. The first shooting might represent the murder of black people in custody/prisons. The pose Gambino takes during that is actually referencing Jim Crow so I thought it was about lynchings, but definitely the overall starter message of the violence against the black community. The overall background of the video is covered by the dancing to represent how much we don’t really see what’s going on in the background. The different styles and flows could be a mocking play on different artists who are trending right now, some are actually doing the ad libs. The choir murder is a reference to the church shootings. The reference to Oaxaca is about drugs and the cartel. Someone in another video mentioned that in that scene he holds up his hand as a fake gun while everyone is running away screaming. It could be a take on the police shootings of black people who they thought held weapons, or that we already have a perceived view of black people being violent when they’re completely innocent. The ending could be a reference to slaves trying to escape in the dark, but when I saw the black girl I think he was trying to mix a message saying everyone is capable of being the oppressor.

      @caromarquez 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      LOL I've never seen The Happening actually, but that's an interesting take on the end scene... Are we concluding that Donald is showing us a timeline of history and giving us a view of how society will eventually be? AND it's funny you mention the NWO because at the Met Gala, Donald Glover showed up in a suit with the Illuminati symbolism embroidery on his back. It could be debated obviously, but it's a cooled coincidence.

      Carolina i dont think you should categorate this video everybody should make their own interpretation of it. I just think theres going on a hole lot,of shit in our world people get crazy and fanatic; gun shootings, terror etc.. The message is peace and love and community.

    • @caromarquez
      @caromarquez 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think I was categorizing the video and my comment was mostly my own interpretation + thoughts gathered from watching other reactions to the video. I agree with what you said about the message but only a little bit. I think of that message being more of a result or solution that people need to go towards. But Gambino's video is about the reality that we live in. That there ISNT peace, love or community. I think it's okay that the video's message isn't entirely positive because real life isn't always rainbows and sunshine. It's a realistic message, which is why it impacts so many people.

      Eu assisto de tempos em tempos e vejo que o caso do polícia estrangulando o negro na rua com seus pés não vai ensinar nada nunca, esse vídeo provou isso eles mesmo já estar escravizados com a ilusão de paz e dancinhas bonitas e tal enquanto seus irmãos morrem do seu lado.
      Patéticos.

    Gambino is a genius and this video is so symbolic. I like how there’s chaos in the background but they’re out of focus. Also it’s weird how he’s the main character of the video having fun dancing and singing, but he’s the one shooting everyone

  • @gloria9157

    The actual dancers definitely did some African American moves that everyone loves to appropriate but also they were doing some African dance moves too. I saw my girl, Sherrie Silver hitting the Shoki (from Nigeria) and the gwara gwara (from South Africa).

  • @dylanwadell7768

    This video/song is so layered and everyone seems to pull something else out of it, which is really interesting. I took it as the way our modern culture seems to ignore social conflict until there is a controversial act of violence (the murder of the bound man in the beginning and the church choir shooting). After something like that happens there's a bit of shock for just a moment, but then it's back to the distractions (dancing, making money, material things etc.) and all the while everything is crumbling and divulging into madness in the background. I think Gambino plays a couple roles in this video, one of which is definitely a rapper distracting you from all of the unrest and violence going on. You like his dance moves, you like that he's making money, you want to be like him. The kids in the video emulate him even though the world is literally on fire around them, until they too have to run. Even in the end it catches up to him as well. Powerful.

    I think that as much as we love bts, the comment section of this reaction shouldn’t be full of requests, but be a place of conversation. This video is so powerful and is a portrait of the situation in America right now and tbh, more respect is needed (just saying, I don’t want to offend anybody). Also, idk if you noticed but there is 17 secs of silence (around the time when he’s smoking), i heard is a sign of respect and in memory of the victims from the hs shooting.

    The dancing, talk about being fitted, Gucci and pretty--it's a distraction. So, much stuff going on in the background and we worry about dancing the latest dance and our image...

      Alicia N notice the girls hair too

    • @alician5585
      @alician5585 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Didn't have an issue with the hair -- my own daughter has thick naturally curly hair past her shoulders. It's okay to want to look nice, we just don't need it to be *everything* in life. Bible says "all things in moderation," right. We can be clean and still care about what happens in our communities and around the world. It's about prioritizing.

    • @altonharkey2924
      @altonharkey2924 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alicia N true but many girls do wear the weave not all black girls women have long flowing hair long hair looking cool looking good while everything around is chaotic like he said im so pretty and so on but death riots guns etc and etc

    • @alician5585
      @alician5585 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Oh of course--and I think it needs to be said that we don't need to focus on our looks or having fun all the time. I don't think he saying these are bad things per se. I don't fault anyone for doing what they need to do to feel good about themselves, even if it is wearing weave or having nice clothes. Nothing wrong with that. It just gets worse when we have girls taking 101 selfies on Instagram trying to look hot while folks dying and living in poverty. A lot of that energy can go towards helping the world. We have freedom, but we go too far and we have begun to stop caring what is important. By the time we do do it will be too late.

    You're right you do have to watch this video a few times in order to really see everything that's going on, especially all the stuff in the background. My opinion about all the dancing Is that in a way he's pulling all the focus on that instead of all the chaos going on in the background Kinda like how we doing real life we all focus on what the new dance is or the new song etc. but we don't really know what's actually going on in the world Even though it's right there for us to see. Kinda like how yall just watch this powerful MV and asked us to discuss cause yall are interested to see our opinions in the comments section but the majority of the comments I see are asking to react to a new BTS song...smh. I mean I love BTS as much as the next but come on people, Hopefully the more people watch the more discussion about the mv will happen in comment section and also you can do both

      감사합니다 방탄소년단 what’s even more genius is that he’s dancing as how black people were depicted in paintings during the Jim Crow era which hid problems African Americans faced during that time, just like he’s doing in the video. First time you see it you’re focused on his Jim Crow looking dance moves and are blind to what happens in the background

    This video is so symbolic, glad you guys reacted to it so now I know about it and go watch it again, I think the dancing was to show that we always have popular dances everyone knows how to do but yet a lot of people don't know what's going on in the world, the video also showed a lot about guns and how guns are a part of America, and murder is so easy to come by in this country, when people die we are sad but we also just look the other way and move on to the next thing, like you said can't dissect this video in one go, I loved what he said about one death being a tradegy but thousands is just a statistic

    If you didn’t see the background too good there was a apocalypse and ppl weren’t paying attention so when the background was happening and he pointed his hand at the kids like a gun it meant school shootings and when you saw the kids on there phones and when Gambino said I’m so pretty that meant the kids are documenting what’s happening and when he said I’m so pretty that meant ppl just pay attention to social media’s and too themselves and don’t realize what happening around them and when he said run black man that meant run for your life

    The cars represent the Philando Castile shooting, the church shooting represented the Dylan Roof shooting, him running at the end represents slaves trying to escape and in this case, modern day slavery was represented by the corrupt cops chasing him. The dances were included to show that dances and pop culture distract us from the issues going on today. The blunt could represent the fact that Black men are incarcerated for Marijuana charges yet it’s already legal in several states and they’re incarcerated at rates higher than their white counterparts. There was a bunch of other references too.

    Feel like the majority have missed the school to prison pipeline connection with all the black children in "uniform".
    Also the car portion I think represents the fall of Motor City Detroit due to " White Flight and the economic impact it had on Black Americans.

    This video represents some of everything. Death to America (dark rider on pale horse), being distracted by trendy hip hop dance and music, while going back to jim crow era, red cloth covering the gun is the government/Republicans protecting the guns and so much more.

    see ive must of watched this video now 40+ times and you can take alot things away from it and lot different meanings involved for explain the ending could have many meanings just a few. everyone running away from the problem even the horrors happening around us. People chasing 1 another for something to the point of it being stalkish. Black man being chased by the whites. there are some many different meaning to so many chaotic moments. its hard to pin point on it.
    even look up a interview childish gambino did. he dose not want to explain it to people so they understand. he wanted to saw raw footage of chaos happening right now in america and letting you decide what you take away/ take meaning from.
    hey i could be wrong but thats what i think.
