Feels like a Furi walking segment track (which isn't a bad thing!)
I've just finished listening to the album for the first time. It's probably the tamest one yet, pretty much entirely consisting of ambient pieces. While enjoyable, I definitely started listening with the expectation of a buildup to a more energetic or aggressive sound. There hasn't been a single album before that didn't have at least one track to shake things up or lift the atmosphere, and I don't know how i feel about this one being the first not to do that. Especially with such a powerful title as "Badlands" and the Keeper holding a gun on the cover, I was definitely expecting something more twisted and chaotic. I saw you guys live in Milan last October, so I know for a fact you can still rock as hard as ever (btw can we PLEASE get a version of Only Way In with acoustic drums? the crash cymbals added incredible intensity to that track and I can't listen to the studio recording anymore without remembering how much better the live version was, lol).
On a positive note, I'm happy you guys have a front-to-back calm album in your catalog. It's fitting to the synthwave genre, and will definitely come in handy when I need something non-disruptive to put on and don't have the time to filter through other stuff.
One more thing - I didn't want to make this judgement after first listen, but it felt like the tracks were not as musically interesting and varied as usual. I hold you in very high regard with respect to creative ambience when I think back to tracks like Prophecy or Corruption, because they have some distinctive elements in their sound and structure. This album felt more uniform - everything flowed together with good consistency, but at the expense of suspense, surprise, or some musical hook that would make me perk up and think "wow, this part is really good!". Again, it's too early to make this kind of criticism, because I will need several listens spaced in time, but a loose thought I had.
@@pcache dont know if you've made any of the twitch stream but most of this is deliberate. This is a side story, not a main release. It's mostly the Keeper (IIRC) going off on his own for a sidequest with a lot of inner turmoil. So it's less big and bombastic and more about his conflict within himself.
Yes it’s very generic music, almost like an AI made it. Very predictable every note that comes next based on the last.

@@pcache honestly, after listening to the whole album, I started hoping for a more energetic piece, but maybe me growing older took a role in settle down for what this album is. Specially this las track, precursor, sounds as amazing ambient music to me. I really enjoyed the whole expirience. Different from their earlier tracks, but some times different is not bad.
Cmon what happened to songs like,Legend of Keeper,The Curse,Uprising,In the face of evil?
